i didnt get the part where u add the jump chain and start all over again. u re wrapping the wire, then u cut it, but u continue working with same wire?! how do u do it? and did i hear it right, jump chain?
I am such a slow learner. Watched this video like 20x and still haven't attempted to make the wire wrap bracelet. LOL. OK, I'm gonna seriously try this tomorrow....just need to watch one more time.............
RUNNING THE WIRE THROUGH YOUR FINGERS DOES not SOFTEN IT! IT WORK HARDENS THE WIRE AND MAKES IT harder TO BEND. It is hard for me to comprehend that someone who is so talented at making jewelry said something like that. ALSO if you were going to really heat the wire enough to soften it (annealing), you would need a TORCH.
Please do explain this to me. If you know something I don't know, I woud love to know. I always want to learn new things, and if I am wrong about something, I would really like to be corrected. However, I have learned in my jewelry/ metals class and in every metalworking book that any time metal is worked (bent, filed, hammered, drawn, etc.) the crystalline structure of the metal changes and it becomes harder. If worked too much, it will eventually crack or break.
@missanna208802 i ve tried making jewelry few times and i noticed that the wire cracks but this happens because of bending the wire several times in different directions (just to get the shape i want)..never heard that working with wire makes it harder
A perfect example of this is to bend a paper clip over and over in the same spot. It will get harder to bend then it will bend easily right before it breaks. My experience, education in metal, and knowledge from books all supports my previously stated comment. This may not be true for EVERY metal, but as far as jewelry metals are concerned, working the metal hardens it. If one wanted to soften it again, one would need to anneal it with something like a torch or kiln.
I find that running the wire through my fingers doesn't soften it, but it sure doesn't harden it either. Running it through my nylon pliers hardens it.
@missanna208802 She doesn't mean that it actually softens the wire, if you use artistic wire for jewelry making running it through your fingers warms it up and it makes it easier to work with, I've been making jewelry for a long time and that's what she means by that statement. I don't know if you make jewelry or not, but you obviously don't understand what she's talking about, don't be so rude
You are the best instructor online. But can you use a black background instead of grey when working with silver wire? I can't really see what you are doing.
I love this channel and I just liked your facebook page and check out the website. Im just starting out and your videos have taught me a ton and gave me some great ideas im soo excited to get going :) thank you
Hi Karla: I have watched your video on how to wire wrap pendants, which is wonderful, but I have a challenge. I have pendants, similar to the ones you use in your video that are not drilled (no hole). The pendants are glass / faux stone. Do you have a suggestion on how to wrap them. My wire keeps slipping off the curved bottom. I purchased a ton of them, thinking my idea would work. :(
@AuntiesBeads do you ship to mexico? im living here right now, and ive been watching some (a lot) of your videos and now i wanna make my own wire wrapped accesories
This is a great video! Thank you. One feedback comment - it would be really helpful if you used an all-black back round instead of the gray mat. The gray mat makes it very difficult to see the wire while you're demonstrating. Thanks again!

Hi Karla, thanks for posting this video. Quick question... do you know about how much it should cost to have a stone or coin wire wrapped (material costs excluded)?
Karla, I lost my favorite bracelet, it is/was:( a cuff bead wire bracelet. But the wire was the type of wire that was already curved, not the kind that you can bend. It had about 25 lengths of beads between two other peices of wires covered with bead and those two lengths were about 3 inches long, There are lots of lengths of wire to make this piece but I cannot figure out how to bend the ends into loops. It is impossible, how do you do it?

sadly i am still lost after the first set of beads went on. :( the video went from showing one bead and spacer, to a whole bunch of them all connected. were the beads done separately and later connected? or somehow, all through, without cutting the wire in between?
I love the bracelet you are wearing on your right hand during the video (it's red). Can you say what kind of stitch it is or if there is a tutorial on it? Thanks!
You haven't done a tutorial in awhile. I miss them, always learn something from them. How about the russian spiral. Getting it started is making me crazy.
Hi Karla! I just wanted to say thank you for your very clear instructional video. I was having difficulty trying to make wire-wrapped jewelry on my own, and your directions really helped me out! Keep posting! :)
hi, i'm from Romania, and I have learned a lot from these tutorials, I'm doing my own jewelwry now. I have a big problem though, and if someone could help me I would be very happy. We use the european measurement, in metres and centimetres, could you tell me what is a "gage", I don't know if I spelled it right. What is the diameter of the wire, in milimetres? Thank you very much.
it is not spell "gage", it is spells gauge, it is really not a centimeters, it is the measurement for the wire. Take not that the bigger the number of the gauge, the smaller the diameter of the wire. Example, 26-gauge wire is more thin than 24-gauge wire.
Ok can someone help. I'm having issues getting things the same length. When you make the loop and then wrap the wire, how far up the wire should I put my tool to make the loop? I try to ahve enough space to wrap the wire 3 times. Sometimes i get 2 sometimes 3 or 4...AHHHHH Am I missing something here?? Thanks
Dear Karla, I can't finds words to thank you for your sharing your unique talents in beading. Unlike some other sites who do more of talking and less instructions, you display the real and unique art of beading so unselfishly with clear instructions. I've learnt so much and feel more confident when starting something new. I log onto your site many times a day to view various designs and the art of making them. Once again, thank you and wish you success in the years ahead.
i just bought my wire from auntiesbeads and made a ring.. i am so happy i found these tuts they are so helpful.. thanks..oh yes i love that bracelet..
you spoke very clearly, explaining everything as you worked. I was able to see close up and learn exactly what you were doing. I appreciated you explaining things as you went, not assuming we knew anything. I've subscribed! Thanks.
i dont use jump rings but at the ends of mine- i might try that though ( I'd use smaller ones then that). Why don't you use another round nose plyers to make the wrap of the wire- the work looks so much nicer when it's not wrapped by hand. I have used this technique for years and the wraps are so much more professional looking.
Candi, Pardon for the little interruption as this question was not directed at me, but it is a really good question and deserves an answer! The reason jumprings get used between links is that the jump rings improve the mechanical action of the bracelet, allowing it to perform in a more supple and fluid way!
I could not find the square bead on your site.

When I like them just to each other it limits the movement of the individual links. Other wise it looks great! Just a preference I think.
