from what i know, this is one of the only offenses that doesn't require a great qb, just someone who can handle a football and knows what is going on. i say put a linemen at qb spot so he can block and when the need comes for a pass let a wing back do it lol.
we ran this in high school, and when people tried to cut us we would run what we called 36 gut, 36 pop. Gut was a quick trap and our guard was lined up correct never got cut, instead he got to burry his shoulder pad into that guys side with our FB flying behind that block. Pop was straight forward and I(QB) would step off midline and give it to the FB. By the time the guys on the ground could do anything our center and both guards were shoving linebackers into safeties. And toss was jus outside.
Bulldog- were you high school when you ran it? Too much pulling? Didn't think I'd ever hear that from a lineman. Properly coached, the Oline should be lined up the max legal distance back, ear hole in line with the center's belt. Unless you're really slow to pull this prevents the defense from getting to your feet. In pound ball one year a team that had played us before had their Dline dive into the backfield. Pulling side no problems, playside we'd just step on them. Sorry you hated it.
@spongebobkatpants It's not cuz im slow its cuz i play everything except kick off. Any team that knows anything on defense can stop this offense, we've done it once or twice. its not fun for lineman, its meticulous and boring.
I FUCKING HATED RUNNING IN THIS OFFENSE!!! our rivals would cut the guards when we pullled and i had to hurdle my guard to get to my block. or if the center got chopped that would make a mess too. people see this offense and don't know wat to do. all you need to do is chop the guard. it might be for pussies but it works. 28 toss and 49 toss suck in this damn cluster fuck offense. the only thing its good for is setting up a doubles pass. but that only works once or twice. Too much damn pulling!!!
@Bulldog76center that makes no sense. Your coach must of sucked. When they try and cut linemen they are playing right into your hands with this offense!!!! You run trap or down block the buttwads that are cutting and most the time they end up taking themselves out of the play. Pick your poison
@Stephthatackle My experience with coaching oline under various systems is the more opportunities for a lineman to make a trap block, or a cut, or a double team, or a good leveraged angle block the more fun they have- as opposed to blocking head up or man to man with mediocre angles (or God help you, a reach or scoop block). This offense is all about the traps and angles and blocks down field in the open where you can actually be noticed, IMHO. May be the way you run it. Hope you get noticed.
my team runs out of the eye and the wish bone, but i think we should run out of the double wing because the formation is so tight you loose track of where the ball goes
When I coached it a few years ago all the kids loved it, especially linemen. Prima Donna quarterbacks might not like it because they have to block, but otherwise, success is always fun. Maybe your offensive coordinator was too predictable, sorry you didn't like it. Ours had as many plays as any other offense. I wish I could run it again.
i dont play qb but r qb likes to hit an he hates it the thing is im a wideout so i automatically hate it cuz im at tite end but i like playing tite en but wen i cum off for water i watch us an its very high risk high reward

When I coached it a few years ago all the kids loved it, especially linemen. Prima Donna quarterbacks might not like it because they have to block, but otherwise, success is always fun.
