Females have high pitch as a most notable factor. The verses of this song are very low. A girl trying to singing on the verses' original octaves is like trying to FC Young Man Blues Drums with one drumstick.

I love this song and all, but I really can't respect some of the other fans, for they are pretty much assholes and don't understand nothing about vocal range stuff.

yea ndafuckup i know what ur talking about with the voice...i do the same thing with my voice...on the low notes u use ur falsetto voice and it registers perfect pitch every time...it also sounds better if u cant hit the low notes

Well its well sing! for all of u that criticize the voice this is a really hard song to sing for a woman in the "original" version, 'cause the pitched is really low, specially if u have a high pitched voice is really hard to catch those notes, so the low parts u sing it higher and so the "higher" parts of the song sound lower compare to the others, but those are in the regular pitched.

I often find with RHCP songs that they sound homogeneous and lack emotion but this song is still an absolute classic. The 'drew some blood' section is absolutely harrowing, all the more so because it evokes horror, but at the same time a kind of warped 'nostalgia' for the events described. That being a junkie actually removed free will and having to engage with harsh realities and worries of everyday society. It is this ambivalence that gives the song some of it's depth and power.
