@billyboy2674 TPTB can pass whatever "laws" they want but the underground economy will boom in this scenario and I suspect gold and silver will be the preferred currency of the gray/black markets. Read about the Argentina collapse in 2000, the metals did well.

Well for the US I think maybe we should do what Singapore, and Taiwan did. Get back to producing things, and have an economic plan of adding value through producing components and then trading them off immediately taking advantage of the comparative advantage and opportunity cost. We are still better off than countries like Saudi Arabia which has dutch disease. but we rank really low among first world nations, and a number of developing nations outrank us in quality of living, education, etc.

If by "they have a printing press they can do it tomorrow." you mean that we can print more money. Hate to break it to you but, the more money you print and the more available it becomes. The more the value of a dollar will decline.
