  • Beautiful version; great chemistry between John and Kathleen; honky tonk music at its best. They should have let him sing more on Roswell.

  • good to see john doe still making good music.

  • From punk rock (from what I've seen in the comments), to country, now that's a smart move John!

  • I'd give just about anything for Kathleen to wrap her arms around me like that. Amazing

  • @theguardianpaleon ~ I'll second that, lol!

  • John Doe is amazing in his country duets.

  • The best version that I heard since the original with Gram and Emmylou, what can I say? Just brilliant.

  • Love this song! These two definitely do this song justice. 5*****s!!!!!!!!!!!!

    God Bless,

    Jeff

  • John Doe has the best voice in all of country music.

  • whether he playing for X which i saw the la show @the musicbox 4/10/08 or playing with edwards or even all acting his awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Killer! Just got my tickets for next months show in Lost Angeles. Got to meet her a couple of years ago at a John Doe show. She was hanging out in the crowd after the show with John by the way. Really cool lady. Can not wait for show.

  • Gram and EmmyLou take the song literally. This wonderful performance gives it a real Texas honky tonk feel.

  • John Doe was great always and in Road House, and Kathleen is constantly fabulous...add in a Gram Parsons song and this is magic.

  • Awesome, and that's that!

  • A real gem of a performance! John Doe is an American treasure!

  • That's a Gram Parsons song. A great one. Used to sing it with EmmyLou

  • hi doc...can you tell me who this is singing with Kathleen?

I loved emmylou and gram's version!!!

  • John Doe, formerly of X and The Knitters. Awesome, awesome performer and nice to see him here:-)

  • Thanks muchly, Yak.

  • Little late with this reply. It's John Doe. He was in the band X back in the eighties.

  • Many thanks, Doc...I am dense at times...thought that "John Doe" was a fake name! I have heard of the band X but not heard of John Doe before. Shall check out his music...liked what I heard with Kathleen.

  • I do believe Carl and Pearl Butler first recorded the song..in the late 50's or early 60's. I've always like the song, as well. Their bread and butter song was "Don't Let Me Cross Over". That stayed on the chart quite a few weeks.

  • hi dogman, do you know who this man is singing with Kathleen?

I grew up in Nashville area and sure do remember Carl & Pearl Butler! Hadn't heard those names in years!

  • one of my favorites. 1st heard emmylou harris sing it. this concert was fantastic. does anyone know how i could get a dvd of it? a yoakam fan.

  • Beautiful song and wonderful performance.
