He came up with a model of the solar system... it was horribly inaccurate, with the Earth at the center of everything and a whole bunch of other weird crap, but it was deemed the greatest model people had ever known back then - and was accepted as the 'truth' for about a thousand years afterwards.

@Pwnzor729 It's true indeed that his most well-known theory is also his biggest blunder, but still, he was a really brilliant thinker who contributed loads to astronomy, geography and mathematics and laid down a massive amount of scientific framework for the Romans, Arabs, Rennaissance Europeans, etc. to work upon.

@nickshel You are right, both Ptolemy and Aristotle were amazingly smart guys. Smarter than me, anyways. As bogus as their theories might have been, for the time they lived in it was really quite ground breaking. It worked for them, so there was really no reason to change it. Eventually our model of science will change and be replaced with something more accurate, and the process will continue.

So the rappers not being involved, and its not as usual as you say it (im at least talking about early ages such Afrika Bambaata), in the music production or beat production is a matter of different skills an artist has.
