awesome.. :) The mic's and the home video recording don't do the mix volume wise justice.. I'm sure Naom is in line, what the camera pics up isn't in his control. As usual the haters are gonna be negative over what they aspire to but will never be :) losers ...
Great example of how well the banjo and mandolin can sound together.
Though they are not playing slow, I don't really think they are playing that fast....definitely not enough to not recognize a tune. As far as the banjo goes, I doubt this recording represents truly the sound being heard. Plus the banjo isn't really known to be that dynamic. Most banjo players will back away from the mic when they want to be less heard, can't really do that all to well when sitting in a chair.
@PadsterDood you obviously don't listen to bluegrass to much...i agree that speed isn't everything but this is the speed the song was intended to be played at and could actually be played faster, its a fiddle tune not a waltz...if you can't recognize the tune you should probably get your ears checked
@lgjones88 , I've been playing and "listening" to bluegrass for nearly 40 years, theirs no question that these guys are excellent musicians and Big Sciota is meant to be played on the fast side, but if you think that this is a good recording of it I'd say that it's you that needs your ears checked.....perhaps the secret is to stick your tongue out whilst playing it.
i love how on noams first break he hits some of those licks making it sound distinctly irish.. amost like it was being played on a set of uillean pipes or a whistle or somethin..
wow. thats all i can say. i was sitting right up front when they were doing that. your camera does get fantastic sound. what kind is it? great vid. thanks for uploading

Great playing,......but if they slowed down a piece maybe you could recognise the tune....speed isn't everything...

I love how Noam makes his banjo sound, so laid back and so clear. And Chris was born to play a mandolin....

Chris was actually probably born playing a mandolin. He was considered one of the best in the nation at what, 12 or 13. Absolutely ridiculous.

I dig the way the banjo player comp's without chording. Tight rolls and little bass lines- sounds great.

Glad you dig it. Maybe I'll post some more from that workshop one of theses days. It was recorded on a plain ol' Sony Handycam.
