Lastly we need to understand that there are many stakeholders in the Kashmir settlement. Nobody will get their way. Pakistanis will not get all of Kashmir. Nor will India. Kashmiri Muslims need to understand that full independence is not viable (KPs, Ladhakis, Jammuites will not support them). The answer is somewhere in the middle.
3- Despite UNO resolution, Pak never withdrew it's troops from POK to pave way for a plebiscite.

The problems resulting partition only increased the sense of insecurity among the people (& govt's) both India & Pakistan. As a result we see human rights violations in Kashmir, Balochistan, Assam, Manipur, Indian Punjab etc.
But coming back to Kashmir, What needs to be done now is: Remove Indian Army from Kashmir interiors. Pakistan & India need to come to an understanding that they should not instigate each other within Kashmir, so that they can both focus on maintaining peace & security.
This is my opinion: partition was the biggest mistake in South Asian history; it enforced & strengthened religious divide in the region, and allowed religious extremism to proliferate in all 3 countries. Kashmir is also a byproduct of that, and innocent Kashmiris (irrespective of religion) are suffering. I'm not saying I am against the existence of Pakistan; I just believe that division of land based on religion is an artificial divide, and many people suffer. (Cont'd)

1- Jinnah should not have invaded and tried to capture Kashmir by force in 1947-48. This resulted in Maharaja Hari Singh signing Instrument of Accession with India, which is not acceptable to pakistan. Diplomatic persuasion could have been more fruitful to pak.
2- UNO resolution of plebiscite was under USA influence, seeing Pak as their potential military ally,
for people that have a problem, you have to watch the entire 1 hour, 22 minute documentary. The team has looked at many perspectives. Kashmiri Pandits, Kashmiri Muslims, people in the Government, ex-militants.

It is remarkable that despite the title of the film saying plainly that these are only seven minutes of an 80 minute film, the vitriol just pours on this wall, people tripping over themselves to take offense, without waiting for the full version. I am from the state and have seen the termoil since the start from year 1989. How my relatives (Pandits) were killed by kashmiri muslims and the ones who survived had 2 run out f the valley. I still remember poor Kashmiri pandits who were well off in kashmir, living in 1 room with a family f 8 in Jammu. The problems resulting partition only increased the sense of insecurity among the people (& govt's) both India & Pakistan. As a result we see human rights violations in Kashmir, Balochistan, Assam, Manipur, Indian Punjab etc.
But coming back to Kashmir, What needs to be done now is: Remove Indian Army from Kashmir interiors. Pakistan & India need to come to an understanding that they should not instigate each other within Kashmir, so that they can both focus on maintaining peace & security.

This is my opinion: partition was the biggest mistake in South Asian history; it enforced & strengthened religious divide in the region, and allowed religious extremism to proliferate in all 3 countries. Kashmir is also a byproduct of that, and innocent Kashmiris (irrespective of religion) are suffering. 1- Jinnah should not have invaded and tried to capture Kashmir by force in 1947-48. This resulted in Maharaja Hari Singh signing Instrument of Accession with India, which is not acceptable to pakistan. Diplomatic persuasion could have been more fruitful to pak.

This the sad legacy of out security and law enforcement agencies. It is really good that someone has the balls to dig this up and show it to the world. But I missed one thing in the film though, what about the stories of the families of the victims these militants killed? This film gives a sense that the militants are all saints. The film should also ask, why Indian army had to go in there on the first place, would this kind of militancy have been accepted in the 1st world?

There have been gross humen right violations in kashmir by the hands of indian army. Most of the indian citizens are ignorant of the ground realities the reason being biased media-they never broadcast the actual happening n sufferings of the people, insted they potrey the stories in a way as to show kashmiris are anti-indian & always there for the wrong reason. It is remarkable that despite the title of the film saying plainly that these are only seven minutes of an 80 minute film, the vitriol just pours on this wall, people tripping over themselves to take offense, without waiting for the full version. I am from the state and have seen the termoil since the start from year 1989. How my relatives (Pandits) were killed by kashmiri muslims and the ones who survived had 2 run out f the valley. I still remember poor Kashmiri pandits who were well off in kashmir, living in 1 room with a family f 8 in Jammu. Why dont u show the face f loosers who have forcefully occupied the houses owned by Kashmiri Pandits after they made them run away from their homeland?
