you dont need any special permission to operate a seaplane on a public lake as long as its outside the city limits and as long as there is no seaplane restrictions and the neighbours just have to deal with it, if you what to register your lake as a seaplane base you will need to get with the community to make sure no one has any problems with that, I could of but decided it was a hassel and not needed. most people think its great. I am currently looking for waterfront property where I can operate my Republic Sea-Bee (twin engine). It is a noisy aircraft and I am concerned about all the property owners on the lake joining forces against me to shut me down. Did you make arrangements ahead of time to operate your aircraft on the lake or did you just start flying and hope for the best? I understand there is a procedure whereby you can have your lake designated as a seaplane base. Thanks for posting.

hey my friend down the road owns at 1948 8E on floats. It looks real nice in the fall up here in Connecticut.
Know anywhere where to get a sort of hinge for the float rigging?

He also put his luscombe together. He used to be a aircraft mechanic for the air force.
Anyway I don't really know what its called but i'll see if can get a pictureof it.
its located where the rod connects the plane fuselage to the floats in the rear section
