  • I can't believe I've landed on this song. I can't believe that I actually like it. I'm an emotional wreck just listening to it. And I am male, 6ft 3 and black. That what memories can do to you....

  • google mobile

  • wish it was 1970 through to 79 all over again fantastic times for me anyway!

  • @BROADTRAIN1979 God, I'd LOVE to be in the 70's again...!! MUCH better music than the shite they produce these days! ;)

  • THIS IS THE SONG THAT MY MUM NAMED MY DOG FOR! ITS ABSOLUTLEY CRAAAP! WE SHOULD OF CALLED HER DAVID GUETTA OR SOMETHING NOT MILLY MOLLY!

  • I HATED THIS SONG BACK IN 1973 AND I STILL DO! On a more serious note the lad singing it went off the rails got himself into all sorts of bother. Hope He's over it now.

  • loved the books, the blackberry picking was my favourite one and loved this song too.

  • Whatever happened to Glynn Poole? I remember him on Junior Showtime with Bobby Bennett, Mark Curry and Bonnie Langford.

  • Thank god the 70s are over.

  • Haha! My mum & grandma wrote this song, I kid you not. I'm 21; this is the first time I've ever heard this recording!

  • People used to sing this to me when i was a kid - then they sang the Barry Manilow song. Mandy McG

  • @1maxsilk1 what the bloody hell is this shite??

  • Urgh after listening to this a couple of times... I'm soo sick of it, yet I keep playing it. It's all Barrowman's fault! *S*

  • @sparrowcrazy OMFG NO WAY!!! Same here! I heard of this and "Lily The Pink" in his Book "Anything Goes" and now I regret it because I can't stop listening to it and it gets stuck in my head for EVER!!! BARROWMAN *shakes fist* :P

  • @Iloveorliandwicked Aye, he should put a warning in the book or something, btw thanks for reminding me... I haven't checked Lily the Pink yet;P

  • @sparrowcrazy Well . . . he did. Well, in tiny print on the bottom of the page, it said, "I dare you to listen to these . . . " but in the normal, story part, he said the songs get stuck in your head for months!! Lily the Pink is hilarious and addicting!! :P

  • i was amazed this wasn't bigger at the time-considering jimmy osmond managed to have hits and that glynn was on tv getting exposure at the time..

  • This was the only UK chart hit for Glynn, released on York Records (Yorkshire Television's very own label) and reaching number 35 in October 1973. And yes, I'm old enough to remember it!

  • I seem to remember the b side was called Pinocchio but i can't find it on YT anywhere :-(

  • My little 2.5 year old is called Amelia but we call her Millie ! so one day i will play this song for her :)

  • Glyn Poole starred in Junior Showtime along side his loads of brothers and sisters they where a big family. He is around 47/48 years old now

  • OMG this was my first single I ever bought as a kid!!

  • MELODIC Lovely Pop hit down with rock noises

we need more beautiful catchy tunes and less

of the drugged sick rock/metal/rap/punk SEWAGE.

  • what ever became of glen poole! I would like to see something like a tv interview with him, just to see what he looks like now he must be same age as me.

  • I'll bet it's been 30 years since I've last heard this song. I loved it when I was a kid. YouTube is amazing, isn't it?

  • my grandad used to sing this song to me wen i was a lil kid. i love it

  • this is great song i love it

  • Yep I remember him being on that programme!

  • Whatever happened to Glynn Poole?

  • Glyn now lives in Manchester after a stint co-running the Bradley Arms pub in Featherstone. He has now returned to his roots in music and works as a freelance music producer. He has worked closely with Nightmares On Wax and has co produced tracks with Warren Clarke for Defected Records.

  • Reminds me of my Mums car that I called Millie Mollie Mandie way back when!

    Awesome!

  • I do have a copy of this on vinyl here (up in the loft outa the way).

No thanks to annie for reminding me of this best forgotten piece of pop....only joking, Glyn Poole still sounds better than Leon Jackson anyday of the week.

I can still picture him on TV singing this.. OMG I feel old now.

  • Heheheheh...........I can still see Glyn Poole's cheeky little face in my mind's eye!

  • How fantastic to hear this again! Brilliant!

Thanks to Annie482000 for sharing! Merry Christmas, stars and hugs..Jan and Susan.x

  • I could listen to this song over and over. Issy first shared it with me several months ago but it got "lost" when he closed his first account down. Listening to this song, I can see Glyn Poole's cheeky face in my mind's eye :D

  • We never got a share of this from Issy. Had completely forgotten all about it and the title never rang a bell. As soon as it started it all came flooding back! Thanks again Annie! :-)

  • "Milly Molly Mandy, sweet as sugar candy, pretty little eyes of blue.

Everybody would be, if they only could be, walking out with you.

Wishing on a Monday, when I see you Sunday, that your heart is true,

Milly Molly Mandy, sweet as sugar candy, I'm in love with you"! :D

  • Annie, you know all these songs. We just need you to record your own cover version and upload! We`ll sub! :0)

  • Eeeks, Jan! If I started doing my own cover versions on YT, I guarantee the whole lot would crash miserably.........My singing ain't that good, and that's the truth! But I don't let it stop me singing my heart out when I'm emptying and reloading the dishwasher or the washing machine!!! :D

  • It`s all fun innit Annie! One of our other friends who does`nt sing, woke his pal up at 4.30am a couple of weeks ago - singing to his karaoke videos! LOL :-)

  • I know, I know but I'd rather keep my singing to the confines of my four walls............you mentioning your friend waking his pal at 4:30am with karaoke stuff reminds me of the time when me and hubby lived in a ground-floor flat and the next-door neighbours used to like listening to Bob Marley & The Wailers at 3am most mornings........! Prior to that, they'd be having one helluva bust-up and we'd hear the cutlery, crockery & glassware being thrown about, followed by their parrot squawking.....

  • Can't believe Ive found it just reminds me of hot summer days on ma raliegh chopper!!!!

  • Didn't know it was old George playing the uke.But you must hear the live version of this sung by Barry " fast match " Pearman, a classic.

  • Sweet as bugham candy.

It`s not widely known but that was George Formby playing the uke on the intro.

  • that is so brill have the original 45 single .... the song reminds me of bein a kid xxxxxxxxx

  • Anyone remember song on side 2? My record collection is in the loft!!

  • Sentimental one this!!

Was the first record i had. It was brought by my nan!

My son hates it! (he's 12!)

  • aww me and my nanna used to sing thins when i was little she used to have it on record haha

  • I bought this when I was ickle - I still know all the words!

  • this is the best song in world, because my name is mandy and I am beautiful with gorgeous blue eyes. p.s. guess what i live next door lol lol. No seriously my dad used to sing this to me ahhhhhhhh

  • Ahh, sweet memories for ya there, girl! I love the song, always have right from the very first day I heard it back in the 70s. A YT friend shared it with me and many others some months ago but, of course, it was "lost" when his account was closed down. I'm glad I found the song again though cos it's not an easy one to find on the net. So, Mandy, enjoy listening to it time and time again, and save it to your pc if you can!

    Annie :)

    Annie :D

  • Thanks!! I glad you enjoyed it!! Can you tell me if this the original?

  • John Barrowman has "covered" it but as far as I know Glyn Poole is the only other singer to have recorded this song.
