  • its fucking indie, and obscure, the way he is standing there motionless with his arms crossed and eyes closed, doing a cover of fast car.. i fucking love this. even better than the recorded version of it..

  • @JonasTheSTEAMROLLER this is soo ridiculously ill-informed it's comical. grow up dude

  • @JonasTheSTEAMROLLER

you're an idiot. xiu xiu are great my friend. their recorded version of this song is good, but i'd have to agree this one is fucking awful haha.

  • @JonasTheSTEAMROLLER Not necessarily. For one, being signed to a label is better than none at all. It provides more exposure they otherwise wouldn't have. Many musicians have started out indie before moving onto the bigger leagues. Furthermore, many prefer obscurity over mainstream. The number of people who have heard of a musician does not define how great he/she is. Mainstream also has a stigma that it dilutes the true creativity of an artist with money, so that's experimental for you.

  • no one is like Tracy.

  • i was there

  • @theerick45 me too! never knew this vid was up. badass show, helped em pack up afterward, they both cool as hell

  • Is this a fucking joke? ROFL!!!!!

  • yep. you are totally correct and very wise. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  • yawn

  • i like the version with the acoustic guitar better. i love this song, but i dislike that jamie just stands there for the whole song. it would be better if there was some action going on.

  • this is lovely. hailey's is the best hole-n-the-wall venue.

  • All I wish is that they would have kept better time. But other than that, great performance.

  • debussy timing mofo

  • I don't... get this. I hear this is amazing... so maybe i should listen to a better version?

I'm somewhat disappointed. I love Fast Car and i had high hopes for this. I don't care if its 'pure emotion', this is blatantly rubbish. Maybe you needed to be there or something. I'm going to download a cleaner version off itunes. Here's hoping it sounds better than this.

  • The track version is much better.

  • Is the point of it to be bad? XiuXiu's weird dudes!

  • lol Tracy Chapman's version is better. I'm still making my mind up about Xiu Xiu...

  • Incredible.

  • These people really dont know the meaning of self expresion and art. This music, is amazing. I love Xiu Xiu and just because they are diffrent from any other type of music does not mean they "suck". Xiu Xiu is AMAZING! everyone who doesnt like them can just shut up, its not like someone forced you to watch this!

  • eh are they drunk or sleepy?

they are different...they probably get high and then play.

  • for sure. haha

  • they get low and live

  • i like xiu xiu, and this song especially. but i can see why people think it's awful, it's a really simple beat and he's just standing there with his arms crossed, you know? if i saw this live, i think i'd want my money back, and buy the band's t-shirt with it, haha.

  • have you ever met JS but?

  • I loved it!

  • Cest Beauu

Y'as Tellement d'émotion dans sa vois sa prend Au coeur.

  • Sorry but what the f*** was that

  • rememberwinwinfienfeinfdrunkspeedfastcarkeepdrivingiiiiiiiiiiiieifeelinthathighbologna

iei feeling i could grey poupon, grey poupon, grey poupon

  • if you sing along when your feeling really depressed that's when you realise how well he sings it

  • sucks

  • I was at this show. Thanks for the video. Definitely one of the highlights.

  • This is raw emotion, pure depression, it isnt watered down, its pure, it hurts, its hard to listen to, but once you get into the emotion, it becomes art in the purest form

  • exactly

that's why most people don't get it

  • oh ok

    sorry

  • hey this is probably the saddest song ever. There is so much raw emotion in this performance you guys are just so closed minded. Stop listening to your damn Nickelback.

  • they lucky i wasnt there i woulda threw somethin at his ass!!! if u wanna be creative do it on ure own shit, dont destroy a classic song that a brilliant mind took her time too write!! this aint music, theres a thin line between uniqueness and fuckin retardation

  • i love it how you're being sarcastic and people are giving you thumbsdown

  • You people are incredibly close-minded.

Maybe tear your ears away from whatever's popular right now and let a little culture in.

Anybody who can't see the emotion in this performance is completely blind. I guarantee the lot of you wouldn't have the courage to express yourself in such a unique way.

    Have some respect, seriously.

  • So true! Listen to any of his music from an album and you'll appreciate the complexity and the emotion. This song is simple yes, but it obviously means a lot to him. So, let him f-ing have it! Listen to an album and then you'll appreciate that he even gets in front of a stage and performs. We're lucky. He's brilliant. These ppl commenting are stupid.

  • No, this is not music. This is art. Music is art. Music is expressive as well as pretty to the ears. We have been always told that harmony and melody are the most important things in music. It is the Western Music perspective. Open your eyes and look at music around the world. Just look up some non-western music. Go ahead, search for Ravi Shankar and try to follow the melody and beat. You can use music in many ways. Xiu Xiu uses music to paint pictures and set a mood.

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzxiuxiuzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • when i first heard this song i was high, and i laughed so hard i nearly cried. to call this music is an insult to musicians everywhere. in a realm of opinions.. the fact is Xiu Xiu is the worst band of all time. walk into traffic please

  • bloody nora, have I missed Something here? or they on drugs?

  • I think it's pretty dynamic...

  • live this would be amazing.

  • OK. You can't go into listening to Xiu Xiu covering this Tracy Chapman hit thinking it's going to sound like her version...think car accident...blood all over the road...a man struggling to get out his last words...trying to remember the moment he was happiest as the life drains out of him. It really taps into the essence of this beautiful song. Ms Chapman would be proud.

  • Uh, thanks for the thoughtful response...

  • Its actually a lot better recorded in studio. Live versions of songs are never as good as the originals, unless you're seeing it live. imo.

  • WHATS RONG WITTEM?

  • what the fuck!

  • is this an awesome or a stupid video?...this is the question...

  • I honestly cried I laughed so hard when I first heard his rendition of this song.

  • umm...

  • Ahhhh this needs more comments. Xiu Xiu > Tracy Chapman? Maybe nottttttt, Xiu Xiu = Tracy Chapman? When Caralee plays what sounds like an xylophone!

  • He clearly has a lot of power over everyone there.
