  • The thing I was struck by is the lead vocalist's voice--she is reminiscent of Dolly Parton. No, she doesn't sound just like Dolly, but something in her voice reminds me of Dolly and, given that I was born in Nashville, I've been hearing Dolly all my life. I expec that why some people think it sounds "country" or "southern."

  • Fuck this shit. This won't even load

  • really guys? i thought it was a pretty good performance and the lead sounded great. remember, this is a cappella dont expect them to include that electronic sound.

  • I actually liked this performance very much. I liked how at some points near the start, her voice sounded very country.

  • Love their version! amazing.

  • im pretty sure theres twins in this group

  • The lead singer has a really sweet, unassuming vibe. I've never heard of this group before the Sing-Off and I heard of Vocal Point and U of Rochester before (or maybe it was the Midnight Ramblers), so I was kind of biased against that. They did pretty well.

  • This song was made ONLY for the Deltones. They rock!!!

  • I don't know about better or worse than the orignal-- I've never heard the original, (Shocking, yes, I know, but tha's just not the music I listen to,) but I thought it was a good performance, so sue me. And Lady Gaga is hard to do acapella due to the electronically-driven sound. I thought they did well.

  • @pugsrocks17 I disagree. This completely lacks the passion and power of the original song. This isn't a song that can be done gently--it makes them sound timid in comparison.

  • @wbradley1372 You are right, the lead is simply not aggressive enough. If they were going to attempt this song, they should have completely re-arranged it to avoid heavy comparison to the original. I'm not really a Lady Gaga fan, but can't really imagine anyone outdoing her on this song.

  • @erhea13 PENTATONIX outdid her...and i didn't think anyone could either...check out their vid if you haven't already!

  • @budsegal I disagree with you there . . . but that speaks to the subjectivity of music enjoyment. I think any a cappella version of Lady Gaga will fail if it is not arranged in a manner to avoid all comparison because she creates a dynamic sound that is difficult, if not impossible, to imitate without instruments.

  • @erhea13 i can definitely respect where you're coming from :)

  • That was a lot better than lady gaga

  • @pugsrocks17 watch gaga's version on howard stern. that's what this song really is.

and even then, this group didn't do too badly, but I think the lead was nervous.

  • I agree with you that it was monotone compared to Lady Gaga. It was a decent performance, not a great one.

  • I didn't like this performance at all. Gaga makes you believe every word of this song. Courtney fell way short of selling the lead. If they had performed last week, they would have gone home instead of Kinfolk 9.

  • @aOKlady kinfolk 9 was in the other bracket.....

  • @chungy2010 Exactly, that's why she said LAST week.

  • @chungy2010 ...I know Kinfolk 9 was in the first group, and the Deltones were in the second group. I mentioned this in my comment, and I quote: "If they [the Deltones] had performed last week, they would have gone home instead of Kinfolk 9."
