@shahkar7 Where I live, rutabagas are heavily waxed and run about 80 cents a pound. There's considerable waste already involved just getting the wax off. And they're inexpensive and plentiful. Until recently, I also composted vegetable waste, so it did get "recycled." Even though I'm not composting right now, though, I consider the waste to be pretty insignificant, though of course your priorities might be different :)
That's all good, except half of the rutabaga is gone after you peeled it.
