First thing I noticed was the lack of white wall tires. No was in hell a luxury car of that vintage would have been caught dead with black walls. (lol)
Yeah, it does need whitewalls, but you're right, other than that, it needs nothing. The color is beautiful on it. Only thing is, I know most people like a two door, because of a smoother flowing line to it. My dads was a 4 door Crown h.t. I think, I still like the "formal" look of the Crown four door, esp. over the Southhampton.
Moderately attractive"!!!!! That cars probably prettier than the girl you took to your prom! ( unless of course you married her) Then the girl is always prettier! And that's my humor! ;)
Moderately attractive? The '59 Imperial was the most beautiful car Chrysler ever made. When I saw a 1959 issue of Time Magazine (issue with Queen Elizabeth's trip to Canada the cover story), inside front cover? A gorgeous '59 Imperial Crown convertible, rarest of Chrysler ragtops (555 were made.). I dare any YouTuber to upload a video featuring the '59 Imperial convertible. I am a fan of the '59 Imperial (and '64 Imperial) convertibles, love to see '59 & '64 Imperial ragtop videos here!
I have a 1957 Crown 4 door, one of the nicest looking 4 doors ever made. I bought the car 14 years ago, very crusty but not too rusty, and it has sat in my garage in the back all these years. I have never fully sat in the car (interior is in shambles). Some day it will be on the road!
Were i live there is one of thoseimperial cars its brown and has been sitting in the sun for years probly 15!But the body is perfect just needs paint and needs a new susbension couse dont thing a suspension work arter sitting there that long?And its still there today.I cant buy it becouse im busy with my 69 lincoln continental
THE IMPERIAL started out as a Chrysler , but from 1955 on , it became a SEPARATE MAKE AND DIVISION unto itself within the Corporation, and no longer bore the Chrysler name . Once a separate make, IMPERIAL got it's OWN models, THE CUSTOM , THE CROWN, AND THE LeBARON ( not to be confused with the later , cheaper Chrysler LeBaron) .
A beautiful car built when America made things to last. I love the tail fins and detail of this car. A true work of art. These big "boats" would ride so smooth and glide along like floating on air.
This car needs a set of wide whitewalls badly.

@itsmegp46 No kidding.

You can still get the original size & look whitewalls from Coker Tire Co.
The 59 luxury cars had BIG tires for a soft ride.

@itsmegp46 some people aren't swift enough to catch humour.

@Unclemoparman No, some people clearly don't have humor when they think they're funny.

That's my sense of humour obviously. I would not video a boring car.

@TheTj853, no kidding. Cars of this era were pieces of rolling artwork; the big, ornate cars like the '59 Imp especially so!

When driving a ride like that,if someone were to hit you driving a modern car,you MIGHT feel a nudge while the other car has disintergrated :)
