@ladyserenityrain She kept fighting the script writers but when there was no sign of them changing their minds and they moved the show to a different night she got out of her contract, she only had to work on B&B two days a week and was planning to do terminator the other days until the season ended and then continue with a fourth and final season, she said she didn't think the tv series would pick up and she didn't want to do it at first, but she likes to start what she finishes.
@ladyserenityrain I had seen an interview where they had asked Linda why she left the show and she said that the script writters wouldn't move the relationship along and she was not looking forward to another season of running for her life, getting kidnaped, almost revealing the tunnel world to those above and after all of that never getting to have a "real" relationship with Vincent. The script writers said that they didn't believe that the audiance would want to see something like that!
What a fantastic voice he has. Very good actor and sexy man. I love this series. I too hated how it ended though. I was also let down about the kiss scene, we waited for it for a long time to just see a shadow kiss. Come on. We didn't need to see sex like she says. He was so alluring to women because of his strong yet sensative character. Not just in the show but in real life also. What a man! I could listen to him talk forever. So sweet and funny and smart.
I just recently fell in love with this series on the Chiller marathons and you know what i would never want it redone because they really would just butcher it! They should have just ended it with season 2 and made a farewell episode with everyone getting their true happily ever after.
Not quite. After BATB's producers turned down CBS's offer of Saturday night, CBS dropped BATB from the fall schedule and instead picked it up for only a half season. This change in terms was sufficient to give Linda a legal exit from her contract. She never wanted to do a tv show - only did the pilot because it was such an excellent script and she didn't think it had a snowball's chance in hell of getting picked up. So we got 3S.
I think they are. Not sure but they did come together to discuss the 2nd Season on the DVD. They seem to still be friends. I heard after BATB went off they starred together in a movie. :)
I really wish they would remake Beauty and the Beast for todays times and rewrite the last season. I feel the last season robbed the charaters of their deserving Happily Ever After. I know there are alot of fans that can write the last season better than what was written. I was 12 when I started watching and this show made me believe in the impossiable, in hopes and dreams being able to come true. I felt really let down when Catherine died in the show, I felt like the writers let the magic die.
I agree about losing the magic. I can think several ideas just off the top of my head that would have been better than what they wrote. Many of us have come to the conclusion though that 3S was a bad dream, Vincent's horrible fever nightmare, and there's precedent for that in Remember Love and Down to a Sunless Sea. I don't think I want a remake though. I just know they'd screw it up - unless we could get a movie that fans wrote with a director like maybe Peter Jackson, who gets these things.
I have been longing for a director to make a movie with a fan ending. Your right Peter Jackson would be a great director for this movie. Do you know if there is a website that you could petition hollywood for what movies the public want to see made? Thank for responding.
@MarthaRRLeBlanc with all due respect, if the fans could write better they would be the ones writing for the show in the first place. we don't need fans remaking a series that was good by itself. it'd just be a bunch of fanfictional nonsense with a lot of love making and furries.
@LandoftheShanks I don't go to a movie to see lovely dove but I don't go to see harsh reality I go to have a sense of something better, someone who rises above hardships and obstacles to have a bit of happiness. I go to see a piece of hope, and if I can't get that I feel that the entertainment acspect of the movie has failed. That was the opinion I was expressing two years ago. I appreciate your comment and agree to it to a degree. Thank You for a well though out reply.
@MarthaRRLeBlanc I was just stating that because we have seen what the fans want and I've witnessed a lot of furry junk and fanfiction that is terribly written, so it scares me a bit to even think of the fans working on a star wars film.
@LandoftheShanks I have seen some fans that write very well and have a better tought out script than alot of professionals. They are writting b/c it's their dream to be writers of books or writers for scripts of tv shows and movies. They are alot that can't write also, but you can tell within the first two paragraphs who they are, they may not be good writters but sometimes they have great ideas.
@LandoftheShanks I was speaking of redoing the 3rd season of beauty and the beast; or a movie of the series with a different ending. I wouldn't let fans work on a star wars film either b/c George Lucas did a great job with his thoughts and ideas. He didn't leave it up to the script writters b/c he already knew what he wanted to do.
@LandoftheShanks Linda Hamilton didn't want to continue the series b/c the relationship between Vincent and Catherine wasn't really progressing and she wanted to finish it only if they have a change and a good ending with them finally getting what they were fighting for. They didn't, they sold the series and placed it on a different night, so she got out of the contract early. I agree with her that the series would have people lose interest if the relationship didnt move further along.
@LandoftheShanks In a way the relationship did move on b/c of her leaving the show, just not in the direction Linda really wanted it to go, but she agreed b/c she would rather see it end like that than to keep going until people just lost interest. I agree with this also I just feel that if they wanted to end at the third season fine just write a better script ending. They just hurried up and threw all the wrong things together and it seems all like a fevered nightmare.
Well, at the time, it just wasn't happening. But when Linda left the show and they had to kill off Catherine- because they knew that another actress would not fulfill that role- they wanted to give Vincent a goal besides just avenging Catherine's death. And they wanted this sweet "gift" to represent the truest love of all... <3
B&B the best gift of all - love, respect, understanding and knowledge beyond what we could ever have expected. We shall never see the likes of this again. Still moves me after 20 years.
I was stationed in the Philippines when The Terminator came out and I saw it on a bootleg video from one of the video stores in Olongapo City. I saw Linda and she rocked, and this video must be from the same time period. Anyways, Linda and Ron are a great couple, peace to them both. ;)
I grew up watching them and they gave me so much in terms of morals and lessons and I feel that shows with quality are a dying breed. Bring out more shows like this and I will stake that there will be less brain-dead youth in the world
AMEN!!! I agree with you and that is my main problem with some of the TV shows of today, I mean I love Heroes and Law&Order SVU but there isn't any romance on screen like there was when BATB were on. Tis a shame
There was nothing like it then, and there's nothing like it now, and God knows, its not likely that there ever will be anything like it in the future. The qualities that Linda and Ron brought to the screen in their characters were unmatchable in the commercial media of television. What a gift this show was to me and others at the time it was on and also afterward. The transcendent emotions they could evoke was genuinely surprising to me.
RON KOSLOW IS THE ONLY ONE WHO COULD BRING THIS SERIES TO THE SCREEN

The interviewer sounds like Meredith Vieira on "West 57th". A very young Meredith Vieira.

Hated how it ended.

The reason they stopped the show was because Lisa was pregnant and wanted to be a full time mom.

This looks like The Morning Program in 1987 or so with hosts Mariette Hartley and Rolland Smith, not positive.
