  • Hi again. Getting More exiting now. A Bit confused by the "this" command. Could we have used an array instead? Loving your tutorials. Thank You

  • still freaks me out a bit that the objects values (or members) don't have defined types.

  • This is the third time I have used your tutorials to help me with my programming class. Thanks so much!

  • Dude, you are a life-saver! Javascript is more and more important, and everybody has to start somewhere. You should come to Silicon Valley.

  • jeez...

  • OK guys seriously have you even been to a beach lately?? its not that big of a deal

  • @Stardust342 he purposely showed it

  • Said it before, have to say it again: totally awesome tutorials - thank you!!

  • You're doing a great job teaching javascript. I'm just confused about why javascript is so great. It seems like a lot of effort just to type, "The brand of cpu I want is intel."

  • He's Teaching the Basics man. Javascript can be used for anything from practical jokes to complex password systems on websites. It all depends how you use it.

And that, my friend, is what makes javascript so great.

  • yep, in the beginning it seems like a lot for nothing but eventually you will be able to do A LOT for almost no code BUT ... to learn that without knowing the basics, you'r just wasting your time. You need to know this before you go on.

  • thank you for the tutorials...

but dude! we're already dealing with ur babes in ur channel... can u at least make ur wallpaper clean... lol...

    jus saying...

other than that, its all cool

  • What's not clean about babes?

    Jus saying...

  • it showed half a quarter of a bikini for 2 seconds chill out lol

  • your explaination is very easy to understand.I would like to request you make video on javascript validation for sign up form or any web related validation.

thank you....your videos are really great

  • sup dude AltQ2001 was my bros profile. but how ever u need to do one on setTimeout. thx for the event episode that really helped me out

  • btw why is it this.?

  • why is what?

  • @thenewboston he means the "this." command...

  • @thenewboston i think he means the This.cpu and This.ram and This.drive etc.

  • @thenewboston

I think he meens where would you use this.

  • he already said in the previous tutorial... its because javascript said so... just memorise it :D

    haha...

  • @Snazzydog333 In JavaScript "this" is a keyword that always refers to the owner of the function we're executing, or rather, to the object that a function is a method of. Read/Learn more about OOP practices and it will start to make much more sense.

  • @Snazzydog333

it calls the function computer so this.drive calls to attribute drive in the function computer.

  • @Snazzydog333 "this" points to the object it's inside of.

  • @Snazzydog333 it just means "this" function

  • @Snazzydog333

You probably don't care about this comment anymore, but the keyword 'this' refers to the object. It's a way to differentiate the object's variable from the parameter variable. In this case, the object's variable and the parameter variable have the same name. You can name the two variables different names, but by naming the two variables the same thing, you can tell to which of the object's variable you want to assign the parameter variable.

  • @Snazzydog333 You have probably figured out the answer to your question a looong time ago, but I'll answer anyways... "this" is a keyword in most OOP languages that refers to the current object. So "this.drive" refers to the instance variable "drive" within the current object. :)

  • @Snazzydog333 because its that

  • @Snazzydog333 inside the function, the variable 'this' takes the value of anything assigned to the function. So if you put "var apple = new Apple(red)", then "this" means the variable apple, which has been defined as a class, or in the broader sense, an object.

  • thank you very much, i hope to see more.

  • no problem ill probly be makin a bunch more this weekend!

  • @thenewboston why do you lie to us bucky ;P

  • @thenewboston where are they? :(
