  • Ya see wheeljack and jazz behind ultra Magnus as well. I know jazz isn't dead but wheeljack bought the farm if I remember correctly

  • I find it amusing that Galvatron is being flanked by Starscream and Skywarp in this commercial considering what happened to each in the movie.

  • The animation in TF commercials are undeniably superb

  • These were both awful toys. WAY too big. They were as big as the combiner teams

  • @mt883 Yeah. I had both of 'em myself. Galvatron was too big. He was twice as big as the Megatron toy.

  • Highlander!!

  • @dynomitis Yeah. His doubts are probably why he let Rodimus be leader and went all out to prop him up.

  • Magnus is really a shell for an Optimus with a cap, cool

  • It's kind of weird hearing Optimus Prime and Megatron talking about their replacements.

  • Best ever times.

  • Whats funny is they are using Optimus voice for Ultra Magnus lol - BTW Megatron was turned into Galvatron

  • I still have Ultra Magnus lol

  • I hated Galvatron and Ultra Magnus - that was the beginning of the end for the old school Transformer series.

  • Galveston and Ultra Magnus sworn enemies?? Did that happen immediately after Unicron convert Megatron???

  • See. Even the commercials ignored Rodimus. When I was a kid, we just sort of pretended that whole fiasco never happened haha.

  • @Blackboilingrobotoil hahah he got totally written off here

  • @Blackboilingrobotoil They didn't ignore Rodimus Prime. Rodimus Prime has a separate commercial. That (along with the promos) pretty much told everyone that Optimus Prime was going to get killed in the movie.

  • @MCWAY1 : Rodimus Prime was the shittiest character in all of the Transformers shows. I was glad when Optimus came back and took back the Matrix. Rodimus was a turd.

  • @greatvaluepoop Hey now, he was still better than Blur and Wheelie

  • @greatvaluepoop Wow, I've been saying that for years. I got into an argument with my friend after we saw it in the movie theater. Ultra Magnus should have caught the Matrix of leadership and not that fool Hot Rod. Rodimus Prime was so lame, they had to bring Optimus back.

  • @Stevehyppo305 Ultra Magnus DID get the matrix of leadership. Since you saw the movie, you know that he LOST the matrix, after Galvatron and crew blew him to bits. It was the matrix that anointed Hot Rod, making him into Rodimus Prime (with Optimus Prime's voice, telling him to "arise"). That's why it made no sense to bring Optimus back.

But, because all the kiddies were blubbering about his getting killed in the movie (even though all the promos telegraphed his death), they did.

  • @MCWAY1 I saw it in the theater, I have it on VHS and DVD. I knew Ultra Magnus had the Matrix and I was referring to the beginning when Optimus tried to hand the Matrix to Ultra Magnus before he passed. Optimus dropped it and before Ultra Magnus could catch it Hot Rod touched/caught it first and when he touched it there was an aura that surrounded him. It was as if once the Matrix was passed on, the first to touch it is the one. Obviously he was not the one since Optimus was brought back

  • @Stevehyppo305 Prime also said that "One day, AN AUTOBOT shall rise from our ranks and use the power of the matrix to light our darkest hour". That means, lthough Optimus passed the matrix to Ultra Magnus, Magnus was NOT that Autobot to fulfill the prophecy. Plus, he dropped the Matrix, as he was dying. Hot Rod simply kept the matrix from hitting the ground.

Optimus Prime's return was only done, because of kids crying and needing shrinks, because of his death.

  • @MCWAY1 But keep in mind when Optimus was dying the 1st thing he said to his fellow Autobots was "Do not grieve, soon I shall be one with the matrix." So that tells us Optimus was gonna come back and that the new leader will only be it temporarily.

  • @checkmateforever Not really! ALL THE DEAD Autobot leaders are one with the Matrix.

  • @MCWAY1 Good point. I guess its all comes down to how Optimus was supposed to be interpreted.

  • Was there ever a septic truck transformer??

  • Isn't it kind of strange for Megatron to be talking about himself?

  • @eshaw2115 narcissistic, but not strange

  • I just love how sane Galvatron sounds here. It would have been nice if Galvatron had been cured of his insanity and Frank Welker used the voice he used here, or even the regular Megatron voice.

  • @sabishiihito Of course, he would've laid the smackdown on Rodimus Prime and the Autobots then as Rodimus was an inexperienced fool who constantly doubted himself. The writers made Galvatron an insane nutjob to give Rodimus a decent shot at beating him.

  • Poor Ultra Magnus. His name sounds like some kind of cheap condom you buy in a gas station bathroom.

  • @BandakaKush So that's what I see every time :0

  • @BandakaKush ...What about "Fortress Maximus"? ;)

  • @TSLittleMermaid Lol Fortress Maximus sounds like some kind of chastity belt.

  • He was a fucking brick....

  • @Spacirelei almost all of them were

  • 2010はアニメの中のデザインと実際の玩具のデザインの乖離が酷すぎる。

The diremption of the design between cartoon and toys is too much in 2010.

  • man...how far figures have come in 25+ years..

  • I had Galvatron and Hot Rod, amongst many others.

  • i want one of that transforming kid :D

  • Weird to hear Megatron talk about Galvatron

  • transformers

  • they should have said

'dont bother with these because 25 years later we will have figures that have real articulation and detail!!!!'

  • GAlvatron looks weird

  • @Corganfuzz The Galvatron figure was an extremely poor one for likeness. It barely even resembles a robot, let alone the cartoon.

  • @EmperorofCartoons Agreed...

  • WTF Scary as kid!

  • Wonder why they had the voice actors do Optimus Prime and Megatron for this commercial? They killed off Optimus and morphed Megatron into this stupid character....

  • @joey75220 I was wondering the same thing. They used the voices of Optimus Prime and Megatron to portray Ultra Magnus and Galvatron. Didn't make much sense. But I do think Galvatron was a better character than Megatron.

  • @joey75220: I think I can shed some light on this. In the movie, Ultra Magnus was voiced by Robert Stack and Galvatron was voiced by Leonard Nimoy (Spock). There was no WAY they could pay both of those actors to voice a commercial.....so they used good ol optimus and megatron's voices.

  • @iwanttoseemrshow Makes sense.

  • GIVE ULTRA MAGNUS THE FUCKINGG MATRIX. HE IS SWORN ENEMY WITH THE DECEPTICON LEADER AND IT WAS HANDED DOWN TO HIM UNTIL HOTROD OPENED IT UP AND OPTIMUS PRIME JUST SAID HE WAS THE COMMANDER!!!!!!!!

  • Totally agree with "sicilianotoronto" It was about this time that the figures pretty much lost all their diecast components and basically just looked a bit crap! It's for this reason alone I have only ever bought MP01, cus the other Master Pieces are all horrible cheap plastic.!

  • @PeeBeebumble Me and you the same boat. Have your look at the new Transformers toys today? They even look worse. Today toys are so cheaply made. Hardly any toys have diecast including the Tonka trucks.

  • Starscream & Skywarp in the commercial? Something is not right?

  • Commercials like this are priceless, especially with Peter Cullen and Victor Caroli narrating the commercials. I think the animation quality of these commercials was much better than the show's third season. I'm still pissed at what they did to Casey Kasem!

  • @Futurevoiceactor I agree! The animation of the toy commercials were better than the regular cartoon series. I always wished they used the same quality of animation that was in the toy commericals for the regular cartoon series.

  • I wish Frank Welker had made Galvatron sound more like this instead of that high pitched voice.

  • umm yeah, this is when the toys started looking cheap in terms of quality..

  • When did they turn UM from a "born leader" into the soldier/reluctant leader he became? Why? I always thought he was better than Hot Rod.

  • @mapleavenue77 I agree.

  • Rodimus Prime never had a decent commercial like Ultra Magnus or Opitmus Prime did.

  • Transformers

    Blocky as a brick.............

  • @lizerdspherex

and that is how we like them :D

  • i want a time machine

  • How can they be sworn enemies if they've never met before?

  • @insecticon77 They met at TF1986 Galvatron's the leader of the decepticon and rodimus Is the autobot leader Why wouldn't they be Enemies?

  • isn,t galvatron,s sworn enemy Rodimus?

  • @TheLoonatix This ad was filmed before TF1986 movie.

Toei Doga filmed this at the same time as Scramble City project. at that moment, none knows the existence of TF1986 movie project. (the animation is also done by Toei) and at that moment, it is presumed that Galvatron was Megatron's "City Commander".

The Anime section of this ad is also used in both Japanese ad version and Transformers 2010 intro.

  • @DiscothecaImperialis what confuses me that toei made the movie but released here first and in japan 4 years later,

  • @aquelescaraaaaaaaaaa

I don't understand the policy of either Toei Doga or Takara at that times why they release TF: The Movie in Japan four years after the US Release (and not sure whether the JP release was OVA only or also play this movie in the theatre too?

About this ad. the cartoon section seen here also seen in one of Japanese Magnus VS Galvatron ad but a boy becomes Magnus and not Galvatron :P, in JP version Galvatron was called "Yosai Sampo" and not "Shin Hakai Taitei"

  • @aquelescaraaaaaaaaaa

thats because Sunbow (US) made the show/movie Toei (JP) was hired to do the animation. the movie would be shown in Japan in 1989, but Takara (JP) hired Toei to do 3 JP shows (Headmasters, Masterforce and Vicotory) before the movie was even shown. this means its not even canon to the JP shows. non of them ever talk about Unicron or the Quintessons. even when they did appear in the third season of the Sunbow show. witch was set in 2005-6. in JP it was set in 2010 :P

  • i actually have both of them now and I hate the fact ultra magnus' legs couldn't move. I actually have the cartoon color version of galvatron and a coulple versions of ultra magnus including the titanium which is the cooliest

  • I got both of them for Christmas on December 25, 1987. I remember that Christmas very fondly as being one of my best Christmas's ever.

  • ultra magnus was my favourite toy back in those days i got the fansproject

  • the toy of Galvatron sucked

  • Lol that weird kid gets creepier every comericial!

  • @doctorwhoobawooba you should make a compilation.

  • Funny I though Sixshot was Ultra Magness's sworn enemy and Galvatron's was Rodimus?

  • This was back before the movie premiered, when they were being touted as the new leaders (though obviously not in Galavatron's case, in order to preserve the secret of Megs turing into him.)

  • Is that the voice of Peter cullen?

  • wy is it that in all the old commercial theres a creepy transforming kid?

  • Comment removed

  • Peter Cullen and Frank Welker!

  • @GigaBowser86 and that robot narrarator who smokes too many cigarettes!

  • "We meet at last Galvatron."

"And it will be the last time we meet!"

I still get chills when I hear that.

  • I remember during this period that characters such as Magnus and Galvatron were featured on commercials during the spring of 1986. Some were actually released in stores prior to the animated movie. BTW, the original release date of the movie was August 8, 1986, and even the Sharkticons and Autobot Triple Changers were in stores by then.,.

  • I like Ultra Magnus and Optimus Prime, my favourite Autobots

  • The best Ultra Magnus toy has to be the one from Robots in Disguise, plus the ability to link him with RID Prime to form Omega Prime is so cool! I think the Classics version is a close 2nd, especially if you get the City Commander set for it.

  • hey was that megatrons voice saying

" And it will be the last time we meet" hmmmmm..confuse us kids did you?

  • Megatron sounded jealous that he was no longer the sworn enemy

  • yep he blamed starscream lol

  • Megatron became Galvatron. initially as Unicron's slave. but he killed Starscream for Coup d'Etat attempt first instead of hunting the Matrix

  • The Galvatron toy from Transformers Energon was far better than the original.

  • I have Galvatron, still cool but ugly lookin' electronics still work for mine.

  • WoW! That Galvatron is just as big of a piece o crap as Megatron was. Has anyone seen the new classic Galvatron? He looks wayyyyyyyyy much better, but he's a tank this time. Nevertheless, he looks just like Galvatron in robot mode. Pretty cool what they can do with toys today as oppossed to the 80's, but those toys were still cool to grow up with as they remain the best toy line ever. GI Joe is the siht as well. I still collect the new and old stuff from both lines.

  • i have the classic megatron. IT's nice. but since i got him inot robot mode, i cant get him back to tank mode, even w/ the instructions. i got to put down the pipe

  • I almost got galvatron off ebay, but one day before the auction ended, the seller canceled it!!!

  • the made a new G2 version of galvatron that selling at wal mart and so on

  • new G2? no it's called a universe classic

  • srry! i got mixed up with him being a tank and all!

  • there a way you can add a high quality of the video?

  • im sry for that last comment, i was screwing around with the audio preview and i accidently posted the comment.

  • you're my favorite idiot. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha . you're my favorite idiot. he he he he he he he he he he he. yes that's right

  • wow! thank you for uploading this video! You know, this Ultra Magnus commerical has always been lingering over my head ever since this came out 1986. Now, i finally saw it again, 22 years after!

Thank you for uploading this. You just gave me "transformers=heaven=unfinished=business=at=peace already".LOL!

  • GALVATRON!!!!!!!!

  • WOW.they even got Peter Cullen and Frank Welker to do the commercials...NICE!..BTw is that hotrod being carried as one of the cars in ultra magnus load?!

  • Yes, they were released around the same time.

  • I wish frank wleker used the same voice in this comercial for season 3 galavatron.

  • Leonard Nimoy and Robert Stack did the voice in this commercial as retrospect to the 86 movie, which explains why in season 3 it sounds different because Frank Welker did galvatron's voice...So the commercial's vocie for Galvatron is not Frank Welker its Leonard Nimoy.

  • he shouldv said " long live and prosper" hahaha

  • Ultra Magnus: We meet at last Galvatron.

Galvatron: And it will be the last time we meet!

LOL Great dialogue for a commercail. ^_^

  • I think this is the first Transformers commercial I saw, when I was 6 going on 7. I got a kick out of the boy transforming while the robotic voice sings "Robots in Disguise!" - some good stuff man.

  • how do you transform ultra magnus?

  • Ultra Magnus came with a free "white" version of Optimus Prime. You put the outer shell, the car-carrier part and encased it into the white 'optimus prime' toy. The two merged together to make a really, really, clunky Ultra Magnus. He was a terrible toy to actually move around and play with. His legs barely moved and his arms had little movement. One the good side, you DID get a free white version of optimus prime with it :)

  • wait...i thought rodimus was the commander...

  • Meh... I'd rather follow a car carrier who actually has some leadership experience than a suped-up RV who has no skills and constantly wants out of the picture. *lol*

  • Ultra Magnus is just like GIJOE's Duke. They are just cloned characters of the leaders.

  • The Original Diaclone Version of Ultra Magnus was indeed a powered up form of Prime.

  • ultramagnus was a pussy!

  • Wow! I haven't seen this since it was on TV!

  • Does Ulta Magnus has the same colors as Optimus Prime?!

  • Crap in a hat! I remember this one! I used to tape the TF cartoon before I left for school and used to watch this over and over because of the Galvatron sequence. WOW, does Welker use a different voice for Galvatron than he did in the 3rd season...

  • One main problem. Rodimus Prime took Galvatron down in TF:TM which is the true animated battle.

  • I still cant believe you have the complete version of this commercial while the others are the one with the movie plug.

  • Isn't the voice Optimus Prime and Megatron's voices? Cool to hear them on commercials!

  • Yup.

  • Yeah, my face transforms like that too.

Yeah AND my dog is Voltron's left leg.

  • go Ultra Magnus kick galvatron ass

  • never seen this one before.

  • Damn, I only seen the version of this commercial with the movie plug at the end.

  • i love the old commerical when bumblebee teachs kids not to run away

  • hawt
