@DuskyChaser I was just adding on additional information that is also a myth but the fact remains that the idea that large flathead should be released because they are breeders is false, as shown by the study.
The study did not confirm that all large flathead are females.
The sizes you're quoting were the lengths at which 50% of fish sampled reached sexual maturity and not the optimum breeding size, which was stated to be 45cm in another study released by Fisheries.
Looks like Nitro Rods have made a good choice with you guys , i amazed by how many of these Big Flathead you guys catch , i trying hard to catch 80 cm .. i guess i'll keep on trying .

@DuskyChaser The growth rate shows how long it takes the fish to reach sizes of 90cm, by which time several generations have spawned.
You potentially do more harm by taking a bag limit of smaller legal fish than one big one.
We need to put an end to the misconception that large flathead should be released, which means not spreading the idea.
With all that being said I am not against catch & release, I also love Nitro rods.
