  • @zoeezoomorphist It's a little louder than a solid body electric but not as loud as an acoustic guitar.

  • Man!

  • would this be good for something like relient k or mayday parade?

  • May be getting one! Hopefully it won't just sit unplayed next to my Gibson...

  • Really like these riffs.. Are they originals? Normally I don't like the bluesy stuff, but man, wow.

  • reminds me of a greatful dead song! lots of Jerry Garcia infuence i susspect!

  • This guy is amazing, nobody should comment badly about him (not saying they have) and I love that guitar now!!! GREAT DEMO

  • How much did that cost?

  • Does This Thing Good Clean Tones Like Rhythm Guitar Sounds... I play Acoustic Guitar And I was Wondering If i Could Get A Satisfying Tone Out Of One OF These Things

  • this guitar goes great with the g dec 3 30

  • i love this guitar!!! i have it in worn cherry but i wish i got it in white :S its still great, fantastic playin bra

  • wow great sounds man

  • Hi I'm just curious but..how many Epiphone DOTs do you have?

  • beautiful Color

  • i have it in baby blue. its pretty.

  • I have a white DOT Studio as well and it's one of my favorite guitars. The stock pickups BURN!! They have more character and gain than many replacement pickups I've installed. I call this the "Tuxedo" guitar cuz it looks & sounds so classy. Nice vid--thanks for sharing!

  • Looks like you're a big Epi fan...do you know why the Dot Studio is only available in worn colors these days? Love the white!

  • Looks like you're a big Epiphone fan...do you know why the Dot Studio is only available in worn colors these days? Love the white!

  • i have the exact same one well the wood finish one and i must say from the recent comment bellow this guitars actually ballsy enough to play cannibal corpse i must add...haha but u just inspired me to play much more classic music with mine..i just need to find the proper set up for the bridge can u help me with that..??

  • what distortion pedal are you using?

  • @Plocky241 It's just the Line 6 Spider distortion.

  • @dcooper830 is natural or white? (the guitar)

  • @Punkid1030 ebay

  • You're great man, your playing kinda reminds me of Dickey Betts. Excellent tone also.

  • this guitar only has two knobs. Does that mean you can't adjust the volume/tone on one of the pickups? i.e. why do people need four normally? anybody?

  • How come they don't make them in white anymore? I really want a white one :(.

  • Do the Deluxe and studio vary in sound?

  • you go, girl!

  • what was the set up like?

  • daaaaamn ur rippin on that thing!!

  • Darn^^ Where did U got a white one!!!

    Wanted!!!

  • Very Nice sir !

  • I can't find the white one for sale anywhere. Its the best one in my opinion. Great tune dude!

  • anyone know what songs this guy plays?

  • dude ur so lucky u have that color... I cant find it anywere

  • how many dots do you have? just curious

  • whats better an epiphone dot studio or a tanglewood th502? they are both semi-acoustic and the epiphone cost about £20 more.????

  • Got a natural finish one but with Dimarzio pickups installed and it goes off!!! Most versitile guitar ever - beautiful cleans and awesome distorted too, plus great blues guitar. DMs give you a more defined tone and ballsy base. Favourite guitar - a gig machine for versatility!

  • probably the most versatile guitar epiphone offers. hey, do you guys prefer the alpine white or the archtop faded one? i'm thinking about getting one, but i can't decide the color.

  • I've got black

  • I just bought a worn cherry.

    Truly gorgeous.

  • Sweet tone and feel. A real good-time sound !

  • is it a good guitar for ska and reggae?

  • hey bandostyle this guitar is fuckin sweet for playin some op ivy, reel big fish, and some NoFX. listen to eat the meek by NoFX.

  • @bandostyle yeah man i would add coil taps though but youll be more unique than the rest o the ska guitarits with telecasters and its got a plenty bright sound already

  • @bandostyle replace the pickups for something more dosile and put coil taps in both pots and yes but honestly telecassters tend to rule in that genre

  • @bandostyle I would assume that yes. it would be sexy for reggae/ska, unless you wanna play Reel Big Fish, but even then, who knows :P

  • the best..you

  • I want one in Alpine White!!! I'm jealous.

  • shit with tht distortion im am deff getting this guitar

  • Hey man nice Dot! I bought this same guitar about a year ago. They don't make this model anymore in arctic white so I had to meet up with a guy in a parking in another town. I bought it from him out of his van for 360 with a case! But it was so worth it, this thing sounds great. Recommended for most genres, great guitar. Great playing too sir, keep on rockin!

  • hahaha 2:24 was a supprise :P but guess it shows its got the possibility of wide ranges (Y) and it sounds immence, desperatly want one!!!

  • yeah actually i thought what the hell lol but i guess if you want that sound at least you know you can get it out of it

  • are they prettie good guitars? cus im thinking of getting one of these or maybe a resonator or an epiphone les paul

  • you are the luckiest guy in the world.... You have a lot of amazing guitars......

Are all of the guitars yours ?

  • where did u get ur white guitar i hav the brown i would really like to get another in white

  • Man, where did you find the epiphone tree? how much are the seeds?

    :P

  • Heyyy Im thinking of getting one of these for my next guitar as I'm really digging the acoustic sound atm so im gonna meet half way and get a hollow body, I was wondering what is best to get an epiphone dot studio or just and epiphone dot, i know theres not that much difference in the price. I'm wanting to give it a matt paint job anyway so I'm not really bothered which looks best and if i got the normal one i'd take of the extras anyway, i just wanna no what sounds better. Thanks if you help:)

  • the epiphone dot (i heard) was better quality then a dot studio but they both sound about the same

  • man i really want a matte finish, but all i can find are the worn cherry , w brown ect, is there anyway i can get a hold of a white one?

  • i listen to death metal bands like cannibal corpse. and some how i still found this very entertaining

  • Ha! That's cool!! I don't know a lot of death metal, but I really like Cannibal Corpse! They're bad ass! : )

  • @dcooper830 would you recommend this guitar to play punk? such as BLINK 182? :)

  • that's awesome

  • white one is my favorite wonder if i could convince my dad into gettin me this

  • A dot studio is only $300 brand new. Used is even less than that.

  • i got mine out off ebay for 250€ (with hardcase!!) in alpine white too =)

    Great Guitar!

  • Awsome, I have this guitar in black

  • so many guitars to try and so little time, great sound . keep it up

  • im getting a dot studio or crimbo, but i was wonderin see the neck is it thicker than other guitars, cuz i have small hands and i like to do barr chords all the time i was just wonderin if this guitar is good for small hands? xx

  • can someone tell me where to get the white model i have looked every where and called many places no one has it. please help

  • hey would you recommend this guitar. im thinking of getting it. by the way what finishes do you have of it?

  • Well, They come in Worn Cherry, Worn Vintage Sunburst, Worn Brown, and Satin Black... They don't make the Blonde or the Alpine White one anymore...

  • tom delonge doesnt use an epiphone dot studio he uses a gibson es-333 with dirty fingers pickup and a custum stripe.

it looks like an epiphone dot studio though

  • can this guitar only play jazzy/blues or can it also rock, like with distortion?

thanks! i must know cos if it does rock i'll buy it soon. i've got i reserved in my local guitar shop!

  • these guitars actually have a very nice full, fat distorted sound. they sound great with distortion. some players who use them are nick wheeler from all american rejects and tom delonge from blink 182

  • oh ok thanks. btw tom delonge is a really good musician, isn't he? lol

  • i hope thats not sarcasm. he is an amazing songwriter and performer. if you were serious, yeah he totally is!

  • yeAH I OBVIOUSLY SERIOUS! HE WAS REALLY COOL IN BLINK 182 AND I LOVE ALL HIS LYRICS IN AvA!

  • im serious! i love blink 182 and AVA is really good too! =)

  • well i wondered the same thing but after looking at some videos i decided to (maybe) buy one :)

  • nice. is the white one still available though? i've been checking sites all around the net, these babies are down to three colors left: black, cherry, and brown i think?

  • does anyone know anywhere you can buy that guitar in the UK? online or in a shop???

  • do you find the dot 'studio' to be lesser in tone than the epi dot 335 copy or are they tonally the same -- i'm specifically interest in the single pair of volume and tone pots for live playing.. I find the 335 has too many knobs!!! ha! cheers

  • They sound about the same to me. The DOT Studio is a little brighter I think. But overall... pretty much the same. I highly recommend it! Great guitar and very affordable!

  • i saw you epi vs 335 comparison.. does the combined tone volume for both pickups affect tone at all? I prefer this configuration better for playing live. Have you tried boutique PAF pickups, such as skatterbrane?

  • I've never tried the Skatterbranes or Fralins or Wolftones or any of those. I would love to though! One brand I've really been impressed with from the clips I've heard were WB Pickups. I really want to get a set of those sometime.

  • the white finish is hard to find, does anyone know if that particular finish was discontinued?

  • Yes. I believe the white DOT Studios were discontinued. But they pop up on ebay every once in a while.

  • too bad that the white finish looks the best out of all of them :(

  • wow an your awesome \m/

  • where can you find it in white?

  • almost anywhere

  • Would you recommend one of these for rockabilly?

  • Another quick question:

"Is it easy to change the tone and volume knobs?"

  • My error. I must have been thinking of another guitar. I believe Les Paul studio models are bolt-ons if I'm not again mistaken. I'm more a fan of set and thru necks myself. I appreciate the additional craftsmanship, like something built to last. I currently have Ibanez EX170 (bolt) :(, Epi Les Paul Peewee (bolt), Peavey JF1 Sunburst (set) and Epi Les Paul Standard in figured red (set).

  • very nice i was looking at one today and im going to trade in my guitar for it :)

  • Right on, awesome playing!

My D.S. is in worn cherry. I LOVE it! I run it straight thrgh a 54W VOX combo & get 1000s of sounds - bluesy rhythm&hot lead, sldg/grng/drt, R&B, name it. It can almost sound like a Tele, and almost like an archtop.

I never, ever have either the vol or tone knobs on 10 because of the sound expression they allow!

  • I just got one of these, same colour too :)

Check out the vid, nowhere near this level of playing but the tone is awesome!

  • You're a kick-ass player, man. Congrats! I looked into the Gibson 335 (too expensive!) and Epiphone Dot, which I would have preferred for the price. I don't see a great deal of difference in tone or playability between the two. Anyway, I ended up by buying a Peavey JF-1. Sweet guitar, like a 335 or Dot with few minor differences, such as an underside 1/4 jack and tapered headstock. Didn't like the Dot studio line due to minimalist control panel and bolted (as opposed to set or thru) neck.

  • does any one know how much the epiphone les paul weighs? i still cant decide witch one to get... the dot studio or lp studio -_-

and im upgrading from a squier strat soo...

my preferences are Rock, Punk, Hardcore

  • I have an Epiphone LP Standard with quilted maple top stained in red. With strap it weighs 8.6 lbs. Hope this helps.

  • 5 stars nice playing my man and GREAT guitar almost got me a worn brown but they stopped making them going for the VS now.

  • I just ordered an Epiphone DOT Studio. But I'm not going to make it sound this good ;)

    later,

    Tater

  • is the dot studio better then the epiphone les paul studio just wondering.. oh and does any one know how much this weighs

  • weights 8.6 lbs

  • I think the studio dot is a lot better for the money. Im not a big fan of lower end epis, but those studio dots are really nice.

  • thats like to delonges guitar

  • Great tone and great song

    go that way man:-)

  • i got the a dot studio, too. in red. but is it only me or are the strings breaking so fast? especially the high e one. my other guitars seem to have a much longer string life time^^ but other than that, it's a great guitar!

  • Check your nut and bridge for possible burrs, etc. The quality control isn't going to be like a higher end guitar with these epi's. Tough to beat these guitars for the money imo.

  • i just bought a dot studio as well and my B string broke within the first week and i wasnt even bending that hard...no burs in my bridge or nut though...but i changed the strings and its been about 2 months now and i havnt had any problems so i think the strings that come on the guitar are just crap

  • is it wierd not having inlays

  • No cause the dots are still on top of the neck.

  • oh ok and do u want to sell me that white studio??? lol

  • hey, i have watched a lot of your videos, and you seem to know a TON about guitars, and i was looking to buy one and i am liking the epiphone dot studio but what do you think is a good starter guitar with and ump for 400 or under?

  • yeah!!! u should get it... i did and its badass... if u want a good starter amp get the roland microcube or the line 6 spider III 15 or 30w... i got it with the microcube and sounds amazing...

  • stay away from the spider

    the cubes are way nicer

  • Thanks for the videos, helped me decide on getting one :)

  • hooray I got the spider 112 75w aswell!

Gettin the PRS CE24 very very soon!

I looked into Ibanez Universe's but they have alot of problems and The PRS is soooo versatile

    Big up to GUITARS!

  • Awesome. I have one of these baby's.

Two things. Do you find the black paint work around the edges of the holes is a bit rough?

Secondly, does you're jack bolt come loose easily?

    Thanks.

  • Dang, Ur the best! =)

Whats the name of the song?

  • You're a wicked player dude. Thanks for all the Dot vids.

  • these guitars are soo good they rock nice playing too

  • fetter sound!! that rocks man!

  • i just bought a bran new white dot studio so they do stil make them

  • I stand corrected. : )

  • Good score it you found a white DOT in stock at your local retailer. You're one of the lucky ones, as Epiphone has stopped making the white Dot.

    Congrats!

  • este pibe se compró todas las epiphone?

    suena no?

  • Hi, Did u Buy this Guitar on its own or does it have to come as a Pack wit hthe amp and stuff??

The local Dealer here isnt Helpful whatsoever. so if you got this Guitar on its own please do let me know :)

    thanks~

  • I bought it on it's own off ebay. They don't make the white ones anymore. So you have to find 'em used.

  • ohh okay : )

  • wow your good...how many guitars do you have dude

  • Out of curiosity, what pedal are you using at the end there?

I'm looking to start playing guitar...and honestly your video's are helping me pick which guitar to start with. Keep posting the great videos!

  • At the end I'm just using the Line 6 foot controller to change patches on the amp. I switch over to one of my distortion patches. Thanks and best wishes on you learning guitar!! Enjoy!!

  • Which would you prefer, the Dot or Dot Studio? I'd think Dot because of its looks and added features? I am planning to get a hollobody or semi with good specs (EX: your Dot or Studio) and add to it later.

  • I had to make the same choice and I went with the Epiphone Dot Deluxe Flametop. It looks a lot better than the studios (in my opinion).

  • the Studio is a good platform for modding, due to its simple design...and it comes in a lot of cool colours

  • That was one of my first guitars, great memories.

  • us men, we gat a shirt we like..then get two more in different colours...we get our underwear in packs of three also t shirts..but you...you have to get your epiphone dot studio's in three packs as well... nice playin dude

  • I love your playing and your guitar collection DC. Keep posting vids, man its great stuff.

  • I have the same guitar/color... but upgraded w/seymour duncan pearly gates... changed the black hardware to chrome.. & added a black 335 pickgaurd... sweeeet guitars!!.. but im mostly a piano player... go figure!

  • whoa, how many guitars do you have?

  • Nice playing Dave. I take it you have to hang your guitars on a wall. I just got a Line 6 Spider 30 watt and I am well pleased. ;)

  • Lessons?

  • Very nice.

  • Good stuff, all your playing has inspired me to get back into seeing what I can do with my sheraton, lots of fun. Thanks

  • Now THAT is one good looking guitar. You have quite a collection.

  • Nice Job! How many guitar do you have :)

  • As usual, great tone!

    Congrats for the new guitar!

What about your Classic30? Did you sell it?

  • Thanks BluesZep!! And I still have the Classic 30. I NEVER plan on selling it! : )

  • Hello DC, awesome as always !!!

  • AMAZING! u always seem to suprise me on what u play, its GREAT!

  • Jeeeez DC!, you must be endorsed by Epiphone by now! LOL Good to see a new video from you.

  • I think they owe him a spot in the next Epiphone commercial at the very least!
