A magisterial interpretation, indeed! Along with the attention the legato and text pointing, her intonation is better than usual and there is an uncommon brightness and freedom in the upper register not always heard from her in the late '80s and after. Brilliant!
I wish she had sung this on stage, would have been wonderful. The one high note at the end is the only bad part, sounds very thin. But the rest is just amazing.
I agree with you... her german per usual is impeccable...love her diction... wrenching the drama from the text! I too wish she had of song this onstage... I wonder if the tessitura might have been a bit much for her playing such a demanding role 3 or so nights a week...
