Professor Gerald based his design for the ultimate lifeform on the pictures on the wall of the Lost World temple, drawn by the ancient Echidna race, which depicted their prophecy of Super Sonic battling Perfect Chaos. Bio Lizard was based on the design of Perfect Chaos, whereas Shadow was based on the design of Super Sonic.

@jedimasterpickle3 The tall gold one is Decoe and the short silver one is Bocoe. They're anime originals, assistant robots to Eggman, somewhat based on Scratch and Grounder from Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. Their names are a pun on the Japanese word "dekoboko", which means "uneven", "bumpy" or "jagged" and looks like this when written in Japanese: 凸凹. Which is a rather fitting kanji, I think.

@Gernam12 Maybe because the fight didn't last that long and wasn't that serious or dramatic. If it had been a bit harder (i.e. if Shadow had seemed at a disadvantage instead of basically owning Bio Lizard) they might have used it.

@Gernam12 Besides, since when did they have all the insert songs before? The only song they used from the games, as far as I know, was "Live and Learn". "Open Your Heart" didn't play while Super Sonic was fighting Perfect Chaos, "For True Story" didn't play during the Sonic & Shadow fight on the ARK, "Shut Up Faker!" didn't play during the other Sonic & Shadow fights... The only tune they DID use from the games was "Fakery Way", and that was only briefly.

@UndefeatableTwilight For starts, "Shut up Faker" isn't an insert song. Second, just because they didn't use them doesn't mean they shouldn't have; so it's still a flaw. Third, the ARK is coming down onto Earth; time is of the essence, thus this should be considered dramatic, but the fight is staged as if it weren't.

well, it's obvious that Gerald based his crap off of the Echidna society. I was always pretty sure that the creatures he created for the Immortality Research Project (Biolizard and Shadow) were based off of the murals he saw of Perfect Chaos and Super Sonic.
