  • omg this is japanese, i saw jap writing

  • @NatRabbit123 this is chinese dance

  • @spathyd

Despite the Balinese belly dance costumes (TV costume designers are the same around the world) the writing was in Japanese.

I suspect the choreography was put together from whatever they thought would look good on screen, but with a nod toward Indian dance. But it was very well done.

  • @Hikikomori013 It also says 21 deaf people, I believe...

  • @WristCutGauze I found more of these videos. I think it may be a Chinese troupe that travels around Asia.

Wherever they're from, it's an impressive performance.

  • @NatRabbit123 or was it the info saying that this is "a once-in-a-year event in Japan."

  • 12 people missed the thumbs up button... for shame.

  • they only clapped in the end?? i woulda been butt naked and screaming with my eyes wide open. on acid

  • @unfit4shit I know! That was my reaction when I saw how uninterested and unsupportive the audience was - I felt bad for the performers - it must have taken them ages to learn that to perfection and they only got measly golf claps for it.

  • @Einsatsgruppen the audience was not "unsupportive". I watched this live on tv when it aired. 24hour tv is no joke, the people you see clapping are the hosts, they had been awake for far more than 24 hours by the time it ended. Their expressions are due to exhaustion not to lack of interest. I was on the verge of passing out myself while watching 24hr tv that year. I watched 18 or so of the 24 hours.

  • @unfit4shit unlike most stupid americans, they have RESPECT for the artists and their art and dont interrupt them by making stupid, unneeded loud noises until they are done. way to be a twat.

  • Enthusiastically giving someone praise is form of respect. It's a form of respect they can actually see.

  • @unfit4shit

Only Americans clap at every turn; most of the rest of the universe waits until the end of the performance so as to prolong the illusion.

  • @ORAquabat mot people clap at a turn.. because it looks like the end... i mean think about it. 'music slows and the perfermers are still or are in a what looks like the end position. i hated doing them in dance.. it used to confuse me XD

  • @unfit4shit if you were on acid.. No one would take you seriously and believe that you were only reacting toward the acid and not the performance.

  • deaf or not, this video is too awesome. maybe the best dance i've ever seen!! (yeah i'm not really exposed to a lot of dancing)

  • @j3n4 i am drunk watching this vid . you are soooooooooo rite

  • The part at 3:40 always gets me. I can't help but be in awe of this performance.

  • Amazing video

  • Guan Yin is the bodhisattva of compassion, revered by Buddhists as the Goddess of Mercy. Her name is short for Guan Shi Yin. Guan means to observe, watch, or monitor; Shi means the world; Yin means sounds, specifically sounds of those who suffer. Thus, Guan Yin is a compassionate being who watches for, and responds to, the people in the world who cry out for help.

  • Amazing hand choreography!

  • fuckn kool.....realy fantastic..

  • awesome performance.......

  • awesome

  • Hats off. truly amazing ..

  • super!!

  • I never see this kind of a show in my life...........Superb superb

  • super

  • this is insane!, so amazing!

  • Its incredible, awesome, breathtaking!!! It has some similarity to India's dance forms perhaps to the graceful slow-paced 'odissi' and the bindi-like pendant hanging over the forehead of the danseuse suggests an Indian link. The dynamics though is far ahead in grace and clockwork precision, creditable to Japanese or Chinese (recall the grand show at the latest Olympics) artistes, one tends to conclude. The typically soothening east Asian music lends the performance a magical aura!

  • MY GOODNESSS !!

  • wow !!

  • Ahh the wonders of the world's diverse cultures are just Breathtaking.

  • I know. I love it. :)

  • mushroooooooomsssss

  • univesal Goddess

  • does anyone have the site for 24 hour tv

  • WOW! THIS IS REALLY AMAZING!!!

  • This has to be the coolest thing I have ever seen.

  • Thats so trippy!!!

  • This performance is already so beautiful on YouTube, but I couldn't imagine how much more beautiful it would be seeing it in person.

  • the 1000 hand of ken shiro!

  • Well I'll be! Even those Japanese did their own version of The Cosby Show opening! Did an extended version, at that! (Waits to see how many people take him seriously.)

  • Someone should totally take this video and play the Cosby Show theme song over it.

  • take some mushrooms, lsd, or peyote, or some form of strong hallucinogen, and you will understand this video.

You see the "tracers" from one person, who is actually infinite amount of people existing in different dimensions at the same time.

This is a beautiful rendition of of seeing in truth.

  • I can't fucking say fuck or shit anymore?? What the fuck youtube.. why the fucking censorship?

  • deaf people generate a sence that is very perfect ,through which they can hear.that is cool.

  • watch?v=oQZa5e4f11c DON'T WATCH THIS IF YOU FEAR THE TRUTH

  • A juzgar por los aplausos parece que a los orientales ya no les sorprende nada.

  • Elvis, Michael Jackson, Kwan Yin ... er, I don't

think so, even if the Pope go a star on Hollywood.

  • saw takki there ^^

  • i dance this in a different company in chicago..but the most amazing part about this performance is that they are all deaf

  • You don't understand about deafness. It's not amazing that they are deaf. Deaf people can do anything except a few things like being a pilot that is required to use microphone. To do that play, you need to use your brain and eyes, not your ears, to memorize and see where you're. They're amazing for their ambition and creativity.

  • I dunno, they have an amazing sense of rhythm to the music, though. Unless their was a conductor there, that truly is the most amazing part.

  • Oh, I forgot about vibration. You're right they also probably need to feel vibration to dance right for hearing audience. I know a deaf man who danced in a way of storytelling without music. He danced the best I ever seen. Sort of breakdance.

  • Although i certainly think you're correct, Salticid, i don't think he meant that to be offensive, probably meant to say that it is impressive that they overcame something potentially very limiting.

This is assuming that they are actually deaf, i personally do not know.

  • No, it's not impressive that they overcame something very limiting, because they can do anything. It is impressive if a hearing person knows that.

Yes, they're, of course, actually deaf.

  • Is it not more impressive for a person that cannot hear to choreograph to music incredibly effectively?

  • We can feel vibration from the floor and memorize movement and timing. When I was a kid, I was a dancer for a school. That was how we did.

  • Yeah, I see what you mean. I meant no disrespect, I was just giving the perspective I thought the person that commented before me had.

  • @Salticid68 they were all deaf?

  • @Salticid68 That's not true...How do they synchronize with the music? I don't understand why your comment is 'liked' so much :/

  • @tomokioh It's foolish to be so sure of everything. We're more sensitive to vibration. Maybe they do good job on timing. Or maybe music pace was adjusted for them. I believe the former is more likely. Don't ask me. Ask those dancers.

  • Quite possibly one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen take place on a stage. This was superb !!!

  • Lol I guess it only looks good from one seat in the house.

  • wow...they should be in vegas! that was amazing!

  • Super Duper I loved it
