What do you think of the KRK KNS8400 priced around $150.00 compared to the ATH-M50 since the 8400 are also Studio Monitoring headphones ? I'm trying to buy a pair of monitoring headphones but with all the reviews its hard to choose. I want clear sound on all levels, not over priced, over bass reproduction like Dre's , Luda's & 50's headphones.
Couldnt you have given the specs of the ATH-M50's in ANY other way than; "ithasaresponcefrequencyat15to28000khzat39ohmblablablabla..." little - spaces - between saying the words wouldnt do any damage at all!!
People complaining about bass do not understand that these are reference monitors... meaning they don't have a built in EQ that adds bass and scoops mids. These are not for listening to music, they are for production.
@lbocvik2 "you a monsterbeats fun are you?" I think you mean fan and the answer is no. I own these headphones, yes they sound great but I was just pointing out a couple of small cons that I've noticed through usage. K thanks.
@GoFoCof first, writing in caps got my attention hahaha, second, theres a coiled version of the headphones that you can get, it'll be able to save alot of space, if you cant find it, then ur other solution would be too just tie it up with something, or maby do some soldering work and make the cord shorter (not recommended it may harm the quality of sound)
I got these for christmas and they are totally amazing. Much better than Dr. Dre's "Beats Studio" for $300. It's amazing that these are $150 headphones.
@shaq3334 Less. The beats have more, but unbalanced bass. These have less but nice bass. The beats is overprized and the bass is not good. I recommend the ATH's.
@unisol77 Shouldn't be any problems at all. The ATH-M50 are pretty easy to drive, and the uDac has been known to drive higher impedance/less sensitive headphones.
@sahaproductions93 I'm technically a casual listener but I won't wear it for that long lol. I will probably use this for my guitar and casual listening and maybe some future class or job use will this be fine? If I get this I'll usually wear it around my neck at school.
ight so I got $15 DJ headphones that I use on my ipod, and I think they sound pretty good(way better than $15 earbuds). Question is, How blown away will i be when I get these? Will I need an amplifier? If I'm only gonna use them for music, movies, are they worth the money?
@TalmidimAlex if your using $15 cans these headphones will blow you away, guarantee it. especially if your into hip-hop or rock, the base is unbelievable clear and precise. these phones are comparable to $200-$300 cans, an absolute steal if you can get them for around $100. but $160 on amazon aint bad either. beware ebay though, there are a lot of fakes of these particular headphones
great review, just wondering whether the bass sounds good? i listen to pop , hip-pop and dance music all the time, so if the bass sounds good it will be the headphones for me, thank you
@conanfans2001 yep the bass is great, i use them for mainly hiphop music, and a thing i noticed is, that when u crank these up real loud the clarity of the bass remains and stays constant, instead of distorting.
@ChecoDmaGGot23 yeah u can use it for gaming, but i dont know if it'll give you the 5.1 surround sound if you are looking for that. But as for ur standard left right audio, this is REAL good.
@sahaproductions93 yea i know that but is there a way to use a mic or something or volume controll, and how good is the bass for like music like deadmaur5 and skrillex and shitload of dubstep and hardstyle?
@Gutrat Its decently tight, after long use they do kinda hurt, but that also depends on ur ear/head shape. Reason for them being tight is for sound isolation so it doesnt leak.
@bballphenom123 better range of sound and more balanced. powerful and balanced bass. beats get pretty bass muddy but a lot of people say they are better because of that. the isolation on the pros are not as good. but the studios are built better then the ath-m50s but are 250 bucks more.
@bballphenom123 I got the studios, which I like for just listening to music. I did buy the beats pro, and sent them back and bought these instead, these sound much better than the pros and are more comfortable, and dont sound bleed like the studios. You should be really happy if you buy these
hey im gettin headphones for christmas and i like bass but i also like loadsa music... will these provide good bass? should i get the ath pro 700mk2s? i want a pair of headphones that sound good with basically all music but also have good bass
just got the beats studio from dre but i gotta send them back due to sound bleeding and my mic was picking up all the sound. I was thinking of getting those ATHM50's. Are they good for mixing?
Apart from the fact that they become uncomfortable, is there any other negatives that they are "studio" headphones, is the fact that they are studio headphones a negative when it comes to just listening to music? I do want flat response headphones and these seemed great. Or for just music listening would you recommend anything superior in the same price range?
@sahaproductions93 would u suggest these over the beats studios? i love the style and bass produced by the dre studios so i dk which to get. Also this would be for everday listening on my ipod
being a teenager i originally wanted beats but after watching reviews of the audio technica m50, my mind has changed. What headphones do you recommend for general use and some casual mixing?
Do you feel that its volume is lightly smaller than some other heaphones when listening to music on ipod or on computer? I'm no expert, but i think it's more of a professional studio headphone since it sounded smaller. So would u suggest this headphone for just personal entertaining use?
@yylikeutube123 yes, you can use it for ur personal use, but like u mentioned these headphones dont really intend to give you a extra SOUND and WOW effect in your audio. They simply give you exactly a flat response in audio quality. So yeah if u like ur sound to be nice a flat, the way it was intended to made at the studio. Then you can go with these.
@absnl You can get them with a straight cable or a coiled cable, which are shorter and better for portable use. Or you can just tie up the straight cable.
@brianvelasquez i would say no man, i dont personally like any over the ear cups for working out at all, cause they feel like there way to much pressure, and it gets sweaty in there. lol
@MANSIONMUSICCANADA they r very flat, they give me a nice complement with my KRK RP monitors. when comparing the sound back and forth between them. @brandonto well man these r kinda for a different purpose, if ur looking for something very flat, then go with these. If u go with beats u'll get more comfort and style, but i would go with these for audio quality.
hopefully you do get your hands on some more sets of headphones and true, hopefully if i can get them (which i really want to) i might just leave it flat and cool good look with that mixtape man and i'm already subscribed so hopefully i can listen to it soon :D
do you have anymore headphone reviews coming out soon? and im thinking of gettin these for casual listening cause the beats are too over priced and i have read that these are amazingly clear but would messing with the EQ a bit make them sound better or would it just throw the neutral sound off? and btw do you have a link for the song at the beginning?
@kingkurosaki1 hey man thanks for ur comment, the reviews on headphones prolly not unless i get my hands on a pair. But as for u doing some EQ its up to you man, if u think that it needs more bass or high end u can add it. As for me i just like to listen to it plain and simple with its flat response. As for that song man, its a song on my group's mixtape thats coming out, if u subscribe the whole mixtape will b put up along with all the songs n etc. So yeah thanks man.
@jomobeats1 u can crank them pretty nicely. thats was a big selling point between these and the sony mdr where the mdr's would always max out, but the ath's kept quality and sound as it was increased in volume.
@kkfunkyswaggin yessir, there is a decent amount of sound cancelation, its not as to a point where when u put them on, u will hear nothing, but its pretty good. The main focus for the headphones is to cancel sound coming OUT from the headphones, so it doesnt get picked up by the mic.
umm any headphone is going to hurt ur ears if u listen to them for a long time straight and has nothing to do with casual listening or studio listening. When producing you usually record instruments separately and have breaks in between that's the only difference. Only overpriced for most ppls uses. And i would not recommend Beats by Dr. Dre because they are way over priced for the quality they output unless u just want to look cool and have cash to blow.
@limewireb if your going for just casual listening i would go for the beats. if ur going for actual music related things, such as audio production n what not, the ATH m50's r far better.
@lolboyboy1 A flat response, means that the sound u are hearing is exactly the way they had intended to make it in the studio. So you dont get any extra bass, high end or what not, thus its better for studio purposes cause you hear the pure sound, so when you go to make your edits in the song, they correlate to other sound systems perfectly.
Awesome review - exactly what I was looking for. I consider myself a casual listener but I really want a "true" sounding headphone something that a lot of more technical people than me are calling a flat frequency response. You kind of got me worried? Should I be looking for something else?
@ZeroKelvin well man these headphones r at the end of the day, EXTREMELY flat. As for comfort they are nice, but not for LONGG hours. Now you say ur a casual listener, but do u listen for 4 hours continuously? or its like 30 mins at a time? If its shorter time periods u can definitely go with these, if its long period, without breaks or such, i suggest maby the DT 770's or something. But yeah bro, if u got any other questions lemme know, i'll b happy to answer.
@sk22tx well man, im not a large casual listener with headphones honestly anything would do for me. Dr. Dre beats are always out there, i know its kinda the "generic" casual listening headphone, but they are pretty nice at the end of the day. They are around the same price rage. You can even use them to record, but i do not recommend any mixing or actual music related work to be done on them. You also have Sennheiser which i've heard ALOT of great things about. Hopefully that helped bro.
