Yeaaah :P I Was On Your Profile And Seen The Picture And It Saiid Your Horses Grandadd. The Big 18hh One :) At Harloston Buhh Yeaaah This Gandad Of Yours Looks AMAZING! :) xx
This horse is such a character......such a grumpy old man!! I have the pleasure of riding him everyday and he is like a 4yr old!!! fresh as a daisy!! lol
you are right about quidam, he is very good but he lacks consistency. I know several sons of quidam that aren't very good, even though there are several great Quidam horses. That's the main problem with French breeding at the moment: Several horses with great pedigree fail to accomplish mainly due to health issues. You can see great horses but also several average ones. That doesn't happen with the same frequency with Oldenburg, Holsteiner, BWP or KWPN.
But we can't forget that KWPN have also great sucess winning pretty much everything at the olympics (even if the KWPN stallions have a great holsteiner backgroun).
Also BWP have been very good with Darco being one of the true greats.
Don't forget KWPN and BWP that are far better than SF. Holsteiner is in fact the most influential stud-book in the world at the moment. I actually have 2 holsteiner horses (1 stallion by Cor de La Bryere and a gelding by Clearway).
@shwiftcarvalho You have a stallion by the Selle Français "Cor de la Bryere" ? why did you choose a SF sire when you think they have health issues... Do you have data to prove your saying ?
You can prefer Holstein, BWP or KWPN, but it's not a reason yo propagate wrong information.
cor de la bryere was refused by the SF stallion committee and turned out to be (together with Capitol I) the best stallion in the Holsteiner verband. Dont get me wrong, SF is great but not nearly as good as Holst, BWP, or KWPN
I wasn't saying anything against the horses you mention, I personally prefer the lines you mention. But that doesn't change the number of Quidam offspring in the sport and his influence in the breeding of modern sports horses. So to say it is pure marketing is not fair.
I don't say that I know a lot about breeding, but I do have eyes and ears and notice I do what's going on.
I think Quidam's offspring speak for themsleves as well.. ;)
You see his offspring everywhere, you never see an international show without Quidam blood present. At the moment you especially see him through his son Nabab de Reve.
There is a reason he is one of the most successful breeding stallions in the world.
