  • People, hating metalcore is way secondary now in these dark times, when every single one of us is needed to concentrate our hate on dubstep.

  • lol, that tab makes sense for a dropped tuning, but NOT i repeat, NOT for a standard tuning.. not only that, it is incomplete, considering the bassnote in said dropped tuning would be have to move to the 4th fret after two repetitions. Just sayin'

  • Now, this takes "hello's" and "thank You's" tradition on this channel to a whole new level :)))) Good talking man, and playing, of course, too :)

  • well this wasn't very consistent with the other videos on this channel now was it.

  • no offense dude, you are quite charismatic, but ur riff sucks...

  • FUCK METALCORE IT'S ALL ABOUT PROGPOWERTHASHDOOMBLACKMETALZZ!!!!

Motherfuckers, if all you can do is hate on and disregard an entire genre then you'll never grow as a musican.

  • @JimmyTheWeed1 agreed

  • this is crap.. i can play 10x better

  • Shout out to Periphery!

  • some cant hang with da metal :,(

  • Hey there! Have you thought

about the X7 Guitar Mind Implant

(do a search on google)? Ive

    heard some amazing things

about it and my cousin learned a

bunch of great tunes with it.

  • Holla! Have you thought about the X7 Guitar Mind Implant (just google it)? Ive heard some great things about it and my mate learned how to really jam with it.

  • dont know why people saying this isnt metalcore style peddling when it clearly is .

only thing is his tuning isnt drop c and he doesnt use lots of distortion. tune your guitar to drop c and play this for better understanding .

for the guitarist in the video you would also want to triplet more like

    D

    A

    F

    C

    G------9-7--5h7

    C 000------------000

    just an example

  • good stuff. love how the PRS' look, can't connect with its sound. this one though sounds great!

  • If they wanted to give a "djent" lesson they should have just shown 4 string power chords, octave displacement, and syncopation.

  • teh fuk whats up with all the dislikes......

  • This guy is not good at all but I still like him because:

    A) He is teaching other people how to play guitar

    B) for free,

    C) in a great mood and

    D) super exited.

  • this isnt metalcore

  • You bought the best standard PRS only to get THAT tone and play THAT music? That makes me sad, I feel sorry for you.

  • I agree this isn't really djent. Animals as Leaders are a sweet band one might consider djent.

  • Metalcore is fucking crap.

  • @ac23AQ Yeah, fuck metalcore. It's all about THRASH METAL!

  • @mario1136 Basically and thing but metalcore.....or "nu metal"...too many catagories, this is why people fight over labels created by themselves.

"I ONLY LISTEN TO BLACKENED MEXICAN FOLK THRASH!" gtfo....

  • @ac23AQ "Blackened Mexian Folk Thrash" LMAO! For me, I listen to anything that isn't core or nu. I do listen to death metal and crossover as well

  • @ac23AQ just saying the title said that it was metal core. so why are you coming here if you knew it was something you didn't like?

  • Yea, I get why so many kids are pissed at this video, but to be honest, this isn't any better OR WORSE than any other djent band.

  • Controversal lesson. After some intensive research,Ive found that most of these ppl are right. This isnt really djent.BUT I will say this...The riffs he shows here are vague and arent shown in any sort of context, meaning;maybe he shoulda played w/ a backing track or added more or ..i dunno.

  • its funny how they think they know what theyre doing...like have they ever even listened to real metal? this sounds like a 12 year old wrote it

  • I don't do Djent, sorry G.

    I guess I meant "Gjent."

  • I need to listen to some The Devil Wears Prada right now since I saw this vid

  • sound hav tryed to call this a djent video in the first place :P

  • @raul33399 Metalcore Sucks Donkey Testicles :)

  • I need to listen to some I, The Breather to get that out of my head...

  • This is terrible. Niether djent or metelcore. This is expertvillage quality..

  • @tMattLZ but the picking style, and the advice is good

  • Changing title doesn't change the fact that he's constantly talking about djent in the video (:

  • i see what you did there goodpeople, changing titles like i won't notice :p

  • Watch fearedse for a djent lesson.

  • Y U NO DJENT?! TUNE TO DROP A RIGHT MEOW

  • Not exactly the typical Djent sounds, but it was still a good lesson :P It kinda sounded more like Djent in the respect of Adam Jones, rather than the typical Djent sounds like Meshuggah, Periphery or TesseracT. Although the core of Djent, the poly-rhythmic flow of the pedaling, was missed out. This lesson is more for an interlude of a Djent track rather than the driving force of a chorus.

  • Wow...Worst lesson I've seen on this channel.

  • .....i think this guy needs to take his playing to "the next level" first.

  • Djent is basically an excuse for metalcore bands to use moar br00tlz br34kdown5 while claiming that their music is technical when it really isn't at all. Meshuggah is the only good djent band. Fact.

  • @aarongtr180 Typing "fact" at the end of one's post does not, in fact, make the preceding comments true. Fact.

  • @lern2swim They're definitely the only djent band with any promise, particularly considering they pioneered the genre which has been jumped by God knows how many people over the past year.

  • @aarongtr180 Promise? I think they're beyond promise. They're pretty established at this point. I was simply pointing out that the "fact" addendum is something used by many people online to try and make their opinions seem like more than simply that, opinions. It's annoying. I'm not a big djent or metalcore band. I like the stuff that's good and avoid the stuff I don't like. Writing off genres wholesale is stupid and one of the worst aspects of the modern metal scene, in my opinion.

  • @lern2swim "Promise" as in they haven't yet reached their full potential which is a very good thing. Metalcore and djent (though for djent to a lesser degree) just don't appeal to me and are more chock-full of lackluster and mediocre bands than any other subgenres of metal besides deathcore. But you're right, that would be just my opinion. And I assume you meant djent or metalcore "fan", not djent or metalcore "band", unless you're talking about how you're in a band.

  • thats easycore style riff

  • sounds like ass.

  • Meshuggah would be insulted.

  • ....isn't this terribad metalcore?

  • lol. The members of Periphery don't even like to use "Djent" to describe their music. I believe it was Martin of Meshuggah that coined the term...

  • This guy is so sloppy, and his tone is horrible...

  • This is more of a metalcore approach to riffs, a la KSE...

  • I wanna see Will Billy on a 7 String baby!!

  • FAIL! ain't no brotha djenting like that

  • What's that? Djent?

  • I like some of the lessons from you guys. But this one... Really?

  • this is metalcore, not djent...

  • He's not even saying it the correct way

  • I think you should re do this video and redeem yourselves.

  • This is just Punky Brewster metal to me...

  • nice job two Fisted Mcgee.

  • This is a good prog metal lesson, but there is no way this is djent.

  • you should have played in sync with a drum bass pedal so these queers can understand djent more. but djent isnt really about sync anymore it evolved into a guitar tone and is now more about constant string bending and progressive riffs still sync up with the drums though

  • Fail :D!

  • this rockon lesson has the most dislike i watched so far

  • epic fail

  • Djent? yeah...funny joke.

  • Djent is onomatopaeia. Nothing more. Periphery are Progessive Metal.

  • Lol this guy is talking out his ass.

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

Meshuggah INVENTED "Djent", Frederik even came up with that term for the open note "popping" too

Meshuggah invented this near 20 years ago, it's only really getting big now..

  • this guy is annoying and im sure he dont know anything about metal riffing.

  • Terrible, pointless, stupid lesson. Not even close to Djent. Wtf was this guy smoking?

  • 12 to 15 years? Its not been going that long has it? Besides Meshuggah i thought it was fairly new, like in the last 2 years

  • Awful noon lessons but I appreciate the effort

  • jesus, you dont need BKP to play djent, thats the stupidest thing i keep on hearing.

  • @Mirshahia yes you do, and you need to tune your 7-string guitar to CABBAGE tuning

  • @GuitarnScythes thats ridiculous.

  • Things that this lesson is missing:

    Bare Knuckle Pickups

    a 7th string

    Tosin Abasi

  • I love this guy but this lesson is extremely terrible.

  • .....................lol

  • ok im black and im pissed that they got a nigga not doing shit correct. NOT COOL!! CHANGE THE TITLE OF THIS VIDEO PLEASE!!

  • Everytime you call this djent, a bass guitar-string placed on a guitar kills itself

But the video has that guy, so it's still cool

  • nothing djent at all

  • That.. was not too great. Still better than the metalcore guy, though.

  • Horrid.

  • Comment removed

  • lol this is more metalcore this has like no djent involved. Sounds nothing like periphery, tesseract, vildhjarta, or meshuggah. Or any other djent bands

  • Sounds nothing like any of the djent bands I listen to or know of

  • Insufficient gear, and drop tuning is a must.. but i stil love TFWBM!

  • is this in 4/4? A click track would have been handy because I couldnt find the 1..

  • nice vid

  • "Djent" is a heavy palm muted 4 note power chord typically played with some sort of syncopated rhythm on a drop tuned guitar... This might sound nice but it certainly is not djent and I don't know what this has to do with periphery. Listen to the open riffs of the Periphery song Insomnia and you will hear some real djenting.

  • @SammerX so sick of people having this argument. Djent doesn't mean one thing ffs. One meaning is the sound on a guitar and another is the genre. FFS it's like people are so stupid that they don't think that words can have multiple meanings.

  • @profanious The fact is, this lesson embodies neither djent the genre or the technique.

  • @SammerX agreed.

  • 6:39 AWWWW! Lookadapuppeeee!

  • this guy is the coolest!

  • Love This Guy

  • love your into as always

  • 0_o

  • first... I had to.
