You're incorrect. You don't drift further and further out to sea. The waves push you toward shore. Rip currents will take you out only so far before they die out.
When you get caught in a rip current, the waves DO NOT push you to shore. You're the one who's incorrect. This is one of the problem's with the internet...we have people like you who don't know jack making comments and volunteering erroneous information as if they do.
I have a great deal of respect for lifeguards.
