Ali has always talked more than usual. He chased after Liston's car one time with a stck threatening to beat Liston with the stick like if he was Liston's Daddy! And this was his very first championship fight. Liston was just as fierce as Foreman. The trick Ali had developed was ming control. He pschyed boxers out and drove them into either a rage or bemusement even b4 the fight had commenced.
Infact when he chased after Liston'scar with his stick, pundits back then thought he was scared of Liston. They thought he was loosing his mind. Prior to the fight he kept doing odd things like gatecraching into Liston's training grounds to harrass Liston. But all the antics helped drive Sonny Liston raging mad. And the worse thing a maestro need not have is rage or anger...I suppose such things throws your focus off. It was after that Liston fight Ali proclaimed himself "I am the greatest!"

But what did to Joe Frazier was just wrong. I lost some respect for Ali when I learned how Fraziers son was taunted because kids were beating him up everyday because they believed Ali when he said Frazier was an Uncle Tom.

Ali was scared of Foreman, and rightly so after what George did to Frazier. You could tell when Ali was nervous about a fight because he talked more than normal.

Ali has always talked more than usual. He chased after Liston's car one time with a stck threatening to beat Liston with the stick like if he was Liston's Daddy! And this was his very first championship fight. Liston was just as fierce as Foreman. The trick Ali had developed was ming control. He pschyed boxers out and drove them into either a rage or bemusement even b4 the fight had commenced.

Infact when he chased after Liston'scar with his stick, pundits back then thought he was scared of Liston. They thought he was loosing his mind. Prior to the fight he kept doing odd things like gatecraching into Liston's training grounds to harrass Liston. But all the antics helped drive Sonny Liston raging mad. And the worse thing a maestro need not have is rage or anger...I suppose such things throws your focus off. It was after that Liston fight Ali proclaimed himself "I am the greatest!"

Spot on. Don't forget he made Liston think he was really crazy. Literally insane. Once they got in the ring and Ali could hit Liston anytime he wanted and displayed no fear, Liston lost all hope, and quit on his stool. Amazing.
Funny how no one took Ali seriously until then, because up to that point he still displayed boxing skill unseen in the heavyweight division until his emergence.
