My grandfather is good friends with this guy. We had a family reunion one summer, and he played in my great-grandmothers barn. I swear...it started raining and thundering, and he started playing "Fire". It was amazing. Mallett is great for anyone. If you like music, listen to him, if you dont like music....well...check him out. He just might change your mind.
I've Loved this song since I got my first Mallett vinyl record at Ethel's Place in Baltimore, Maryland in the 80's. Great to hear it and see it too! DAVE IS STILL A JOY TO WATCH TODAY...CATCH HIS CONCERT!
I stand corrected, flyhaf - I just viewed this clip for the second time, having completely forgotten that I had posted a comment after my first viewing - I noticed THIS time that the root note is on the open 5th string.
Amazing! sounds like 2 guitars.
Wish I had his talent, or even a 10th of it.

I always liked DM's first album best + Ballad of Saint Anne's Reel. But it's all good, really... I grew up in Maine.

Great! What tuning do you use for this song? DADGAD?
ltcmed 3 years ago
I'm not Dave, but this is open D tuning - F# instead of G.

I think it's open G, actually. So DGDGBd. It's easy to play that way, at least.
