Very balanced sensual, provocative and stimulating all at the same time! Powerful memories of dancing to this song and skating to this song San Antonio, Texas. I also remember how to do the dance, "The Rockin' Chair"!!! I would wait until Gwen started saying," MMMMMM" at 2:13 snd change from doing disco to doing the rockin' chair.....powerful experience. Also for us brothers, if you don't know how to treat a lady, she spells it out for you! I just keep playing it over and over.
I've loved this song since childhood in the 70's. I still love this song and thanks to "T.C. in Columbia SC, I KNOW what this song is REALLY talking about!!!! Sexy baby!! OOOh "Good lovin daddy!!"
WHAT WAS THE RAP SONG THAT SAMPLED THIS SONG??? I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT THE 90S RAP SONG, IT WAS RECENT IN THE LAST 3-4 YEARS AT THE MOST AND IT WAS BY A SOUTHERN RAPPER..I WANNA SAY SOMEBODY FROM GA LIKE SHAWTY LO OR SOMEBODY IF U KNOW TELL ME
WOW!! This is a classic. 1975's Rockin Chair by none other than Gwen McCrae. I remember dancin to this at family reunions in my youth. Especially the summer of 1975. Doin the bump and funky chicken. LOL Wonder if there is an extended version of this. The 3:20 is just too short for this funky classic.
Hmmmmmmmm, that suspend at 2:13 --- she is flawless! Had to start rockin on my desk chair WoooH...and when the music comes back in, Aoww! well, screw the workload. by then...C'mon baby...
Lets get it on! I wanna play this song for my fiance or maybe sing it to her, oh well its only been almost a year and I'm still waiting for her to be my rockin' chair.
i don't get it why name it rocking chair i mean a rocking chair is used for......wait for it.....oh that kind of rocking......omg!! just kidding gotta love the classics hahaha
What you say??? This was my mommie's song back in the day! I was like four or five singing it right along w her - probably not the best song to be singing, but hey, it's a good tune :P LOVE THIS SONG!!
Now this is real music!!! I remember when this song came out and was listening to SuperCFL. Those were the days!!! Cool music and a cool radio station.
Here's proof that good music never dies. It just reincarnates itself in different genres forever. Beat elements from this song gave birth to Jeru da damaja's "Come clean" and Blahzay's "Danger".
@koollatter Yes yes yes! I loved this song when i was a kid too. I can still remember how it used to give me those feelings of wanting 2 have sex, even tho i was still a virgin. I knew this was a song about making love. I used 2 think i was a "good loving daddy." LOL
OMG I used to love dancing to all this! This song following Rock Your Baby used to just make me NUTS! I wish disco would come back - lol you would have LOTS of older people out there grooving on the dance floor again! There were better dances and dancers THEN than any other time I can remember.
@Sugar000TONGUE Yeah Sugar000tongue, You've just showed us all how a moron talks and thinks. You've added so much to this conversation. Ohhh, I'll bet you're a real love machine, huh.
Ohh, this song takes me back! Now THIS is music! Used to listen to CKLW out of Detroit! Someone said it before me - A BETTER TIME, A BETTER PLACE for sure!
a lil girl walked over to her mom and said momma you know want i want to be when i grow up? a rocking chair! when you think of it , it's not a bad deal! said by shane.
@JadedArtisan - No doubt, that song was hot!!! Of course he followed that up with "Ya Bad Chubbs" in '89 where Howie Tee used the Popeye sample. But this song also makes me think of Blahzay Blahzay's 1995 joint "Danger", which came out during the tailend of Phase II of the Golden Age ('86-'96)
Nice old time soul. Remember hearing it in Indy when visiting a cousin in the seventies. Something like 6-7th grade year. Song stuck with me ever since. Thanks for posting.
One of my favorite songs and George McCrae Rock your baby this was beautiful music, Music is gonna return to this honest music, MTV should have to go to court for rap music and pay familys money for kids harmed by its horrable messages and nasty disgusting This is soul music RAP was vulgarity to a drum machine It all but helped distroy a beautiful music and culture the black soul music beautiful melodys was distroyed by rap I think its comeing back and rap can Rap it up and MTV needs to pay fine
Jus start swaying side ta side. rock back and forth. How she sing this is all-time memorable. The background singers do their fine thing - "rock, rock. rock, rock. rock, rock. rock, rock". Gwen M. sings this so perfectly. She breaks free and flows it out. Music!!
@Caramel1908 I understand what you mean, each generatinon catches hell, things are purposely made worse for each new generation, its been designed that way.
My momma and I may not have the best relationship, but I will always love her for giving me the gift of music from soul to rock. Happy mothers day. May we have many more Mother's days.
I love this song...I remember this song on one of my parents 8 tracks..singing it at the top of my lungs in the car.."let me be your rocking chair..just rock me away from here.."
awsom tune was just listening to some oldschool stuff and this one came up and im so glad it did its still one of my all time favorites thanks for posting you got good taste in music: )
Dangit...my wife's asleep upstairs, so I can't turn this song up. Man...I've loved this tune since I first heard it!
