well the adjustment screw servs both purposes of pressure & gap. Basically all this company did was seperate these two functions in auto gap & "pressure adjustment screw". I really dont see the point in having to create this, other than to simply create another tool.
The point is that you don't have to set the gap. Once you set the pressure as to how you want it, like if you are working with a soft or hard metal, you don't have to set it again. The locking mechanism is actually quite unique compared to other self lockers, and does the job extremely well. You can set the pressure low enough to grab plastic consistently without marring.
Now that Vise-Grip is China-made, this is a great alternative, but it's also made in China. That's the real shame.
In our shop we use Lockjaws daily. They are very practical for many of applications. I have seen the Lockjaws replacing vise grips in most of the toolboxes around the shop. They grip better and tighter then any vise grip I have ever used.
Similar designs have been around for more than 20 years. They are not practical in real world use. You end up playing with the adjustment screw at least as much as traditional vise grips and they still don't work as well.
worst piece of shit I have ever used.
I got 5 of these are they are useless, unless you are working on plastic bolts.
I want to trade them for 5 real WISE GRIP if anybody is interested.
