My father committed suicide after many sessions of ECT. His condition got worst with this treatment. He was only 33 when he put thinner all over his body and burned himself. Think twice before considering this treatment.
, but I wonder how it changed him. I was 12 then and I always remember him being a superior person and wonderful father. I shudder to think what could have happened to him. Although I still suffer severe depression, I now take nothing and never regretted it. ETC and SSRI drugs are way too risky to take, better nothing than that. Of course, I never had psychosis but back in the 50-60s they used lobotomies on people who were merely depressed or had OCD. This is unconscionable to destroy
people's brains and lives like that. The blood of all those who killed themselves due to SSRI antidepressants cries out but the drug companies got away with it. I thank God I was not a victim of suicide or intense loss of memory at the hands of doctors and the greedy medical establishment.. Now I hear etc also could have made me suicidal. OMG this is just a crime against people. May these perpetrators get their just deserts and thank God for people like Breggen. His books are wonderful..
Have you had involuntary ECT? Do you know what it's like to forget your wedding day and where things are in your house? Do you know what it's like to feel like your brain has been violated? I had involuntary ECT after years of depression caused by being sodomised when I was less than 6 years old (thats when it was discovered and verified by the rape treatment center) First my body was violated and then I was strapped down and they violated my mind.
I'm working on a book about my father, to whom some thing very similar happened (there was no depression, however, just a hysterical mother who blamed her child for the molesting). Please contact me if you'd consent to be interviewed.

Too few psychiatrists speak out against biological psychiatry and the harmful effects of ECT
whichphilosophy 3 years ago 10
The DSM4 should be thrown away along with psychiatry. How can anyone believe that electroshocking the brain is not harmful?
hajarc 3 years ago 7
Psychiatrists will often deny the brain damage associated with ECT. The whole DSM 4 book needs a complete overhaul.
