  • it stinks that a lot of guys left b4 the march out....... we lost 3 musicians!!!! 2 fifers which we always need!!!!

  • By far one the best reenactments that I've participated in. I am in the 64th Regiment of Foot, which regiment are you in? BTW the 64th won Sunday's firing competition by a second...I was thrilled like heck lol...

  • I'm surprised that you don't recognize the Captain of "H" Company, 4th Battalion Royal Artillery? The Artillery Coy. attached to the 64th...btw, Excellent job on the competition. I would expect nothing less from the 64th! =)

    Nice to make your acquaintance.

    Cheers, Rex

  • Best weekend of my life!! I was standing close to you!! lol

  • As a participant, it had to be one of the best years, of eight, that I can remember weather-wise! =)

Hope to see you there again next year... (PS I'm glad you captured the Artillery-Infantry demo)

  • Yes! I hope to go back next year!! I wonder if you've seen me wondering about all day... I had my fan...lol

  • i Think you should play the song called The british grenadiers :P thats a regiment but theirs a song to it aswell that they do and when it plays it strikes fear into the heart of the enemy and makes me proud to be British.

  • Actually, that is exactly the song the fifer is playing. Slightly different to the modern one, but one in the same. The one you hear is the correct 18th century version. Truly as great song indeed!

  • This is 1 of the best reinactments of the british that i have seen of the british from the americans on youtube and i blame it on the drummer its good :) it Lets you know that the British are comeing.

  • Cheers...this event is one of everyone's favourites! In fact, this year's UTR had to be one of the best as far as the weather! Late June can be withering in wool Regimentals & there was a constant fresh breeze & the temperature was most pleasant! My Artillery lads enjoyed working with a full scale field "Cannon Gyn" and I believe Colonial Williamsburg enjoyed having 4 of their 3lb Guns serviced by the Royal Artillery.

  • Yeah do these reinactments happen regulary in america?

And you got those 'cannons' from the Real Royal artillery regiment in england? and sent them to the USA?

and i like how you have the british flags with the troops aswell it makes a difference.. and when some of them can march in a straight formation.. but yeah looking at your other videos the uniforms are quite accurate for american reanacters

  • They do, in fact frequently!

Google The British Brigade, and look under schedule...that will give you an idea. =) However many different regiments have their own schedules, etc. It's a very active avocation here in the states

  • Some of the Guns have come from England, but most are cast here in the States from originals. In iron, or bronze "Verbruggen" Bbls to be exact. These exacting standards are a great source of pride for the Artillerists that serve to honor those who went before us, just like the uniforms we wear. Many of the kits you see on the lads & women of the army, are made by hand. The stitching, wool & linen are as close to perfect as it gets, and painstaking research goes into them. It's a passion for us!

  • hay it wuz great to finally meet you in person, thanks for posting this, ive been looking for some of the new vids. of us all day

  • Sure was...see you on the field again soon!

  • hay i wuz 1 of those drummers, the 1 in the white coat with the bearskin hat.... i had a blast there!

  • Yeah the drumming was good...

do you know any other ways of drumming?

And the only thing i dont like in this video is the whistle because ive never seen that exact sound in the british army before.

  • The sound you hear is a fife. As important as a drum to Martial Music of the 18th century. The British & Continental armies required them. As did every army in the world at the time. There are some great vids on here with Fife & Drum music. Search for "Old Guard" on here and although the fifes aren't historically accurate (made for better tone and slightly larger, etc) and during the RevWar Bass Drums weren't used in the field, they have some wonderful variations in sound. =)

  • well fifes and drums were an essential(excuse my spelling) part of the 18th century army. since you usally couldnt hear a commander yelling out a command because of screaming men, cannons booming, muskets firing, drums and fifes could be easily heard over the roar of a battle feild, so after awhile drums and fifes came into most european armies.
