  • I have to say this, If Hatebreed wrote this song, it would be the #1 FUCKING SONG ON MY LIST! bigtime slayer fan, and even more so for Hatebreed!

  • Ahahahahahahahaha category: Pets & Animals

  • geeeet suuuuuuum

  • Hatebreed's cover of Ghost of War vs As I Lay Dying's cover of War Ensemble vs Havok's cover of Postmortem/Raining Blood vs Vader's cover of Raining Blood. Who wins?

  • @bloodybastard25 havok

  • @bloodybastard25 Vader's live cover of Raining Blood is the greatest Slayer cover I've ever seen.

  • iv read these comments and i must say (GET OFF THE FUCKING COMPUTER AND GO HIS SOMBODY IN THE FUCKING FACE) thats what this song makes me want to do

  • if i had a choice, Hatebreed would cover the South of Heaven album

  • dig it.. sick shit for sure, well mixed with the Slayer..

  • Missing the pick slides, that sucks.

  • I personally think this one is better than the Slayer version, and the Slayer version was really good too.

  • This shit hauls ass!

  • Jamey Jasta Rulez just as strong as Slayer!

  • YAWWWNNNNNNNN

the sound is way to sludgy for a ghost of war cover, and overall does nothing to enhance or go beyond the original song: which is the whole point of covering a song...

if you think hatebrred is the shit - Sepultura has a much more refined, crisp sound...or even better listen to a band called Integrity out of Cleveland from late 80s-90s some of the roots of metalcore.

  • Never heard of Hatebreed. This is a really awesome cover of one of Slaye'rs most kickass songs - props to the drummer for keeping up with Dave - but the original still tops it based on the fact that these vocals sound like those of countless other metal bands. The death metal growl is so stock now that it isn't even funny...even Metalocalypse makes fun of it. Araya's voice, on the other hand, sounds like no other, and that's a huge part of what gives Slayer their own distinct personality.

  • cant believe you have more hits than slayer themselves! go Jamey Jasta! you totally kick ass!!!!

  • I think that the most impressive thing about this cover is the drumming. Matt Byrne is so on point with Dave Lombardo, and that is a VERY high honor.

  • just came from a slayer vid so im not being biast when i say, this is almost as good as the original. i love hatebreeds style mixed in with slayers riffs... its amazing.

  • @uofm97 Yeah definitely. The vocals, for me were a big highlight of this cover- they do the original justice and put a different spin on it. I like!

  • I'm pleasantly surprised by this. Not a hatebreed fan but this is a great cover!

  • @Aeolianshredhead I was surprised as well when I'd heard this as far as just how close Hatebreed came to Slayer's original....I actually like Jamey's growly vocal choice better, which is odd since I usually don't care for his vocals on his own songs. Maybe he should take what he did here and continue to use it because he sounds much better when not relying on his throat so much; gut vocals always sound better.

  • Not a big HATEBREED fan, but I will say, I'm totally impressed withis version.

  • zajebiste

  • best slayer cover i ever heard, slighly new metal chunkier sound that does the original justice where bands like cradle of filth fail miserably in their covers

  • Well done. They put their own style while playing some elements clearly Slayer-style. Good interpretation.

  • I like this.

  • Slayer's version of the song will always top this due to it's the original. But, I give credit where it is due. I'm a huge fan of Hatebreed, and this cover kicks ass. Jamey's vocal style is what made the song sound more like today's metal scene. Again, excellent job by Hatebreed.

  • Nice :)

  • Hey, This shit Sucks, Justin Bie..................im sorry, a faggot took over my profile, Hatebreed FTW!!!!!!!!

  • this is soo going in my ipod!!! lol thanks for posting bro

  • This is a good coverm Slayer is a great band, no one discusses, but c'mon Hatebreed made an excellent cover

  • Seems a little slow to the original...and the sound isn't good enough. sorry but not a good cover

  • If you think hb is beter than slayer your a fag

  • @SlayerAwaits1 NO ONE CAN COMPARE HB AND SLAYER, DON'T BE STUPID, THEY ARE TWO DIFFERENT BANDS AND GENRES

  • worst cover

hatebreed are cool but holy moses cover are way better

  • this video needs no discription.

  • i hate covers... but this is nice

  • This is a pretty legit cover, I like it better than the "Escape" cover that is.

  • Wow, Hatebreed turned a good song into a shit load of noise. Thanks hardcore...thanks.

  • Damn i think the guitar solo made me drop a third testicle

    Fucking EPIC

  • awesome cover

  • the only thing i dont like about this cover is the guitar tone, not enough mids or highs... sounds kinda hollow. but the vocals were excellent and the drums were awesome and the bass was mixed nicely as well

  • although the guitar in this song was also done by kerry king, so you cant really call it "their own"

  • Pure hard core ass kickin shit!!!

  • tbh i prefer the vocals in this more than the original, dont like how araya`s voice sounds on the original, live slayer wins hands down but for the studio version....hatebreed takes it for me.... anyway im off to listen to some postmortem

  • they shoulda covered more old school thrash, porb not talented enough to do a megadeth song, but at least maybe an old exodus or testament tune wouldve been nice as well

  • I dont like hatebreed but ther style of music is pretty good for this song.

  • Better then slayer. They nailed every cover on this album.

  • spirit in black

  • love the opening divebomb sound

  • This is pretty damn good, it retains all of Slayer's feel from the original while also not ignoring Hatebreed's style. If that isn't a good cover, I don't know what is. Haters gonna hate, I suppose.

  • as a slayer fan of some 25 years I have to say this is a damn good cover!! I am also a fan of hatebreed this just makes me more of a fan! Thanks for posting!!

  • A amazing Slayer cover, mainly because it wasn't a black metal or death metal vocalist completly ruining the vocals with growls or something along those lines. Original vocal styles in covers always make it sound 100 Percent legit. Great Cover, gotta start listening to these guys more.....Hatebreed I mean......:P

  • Excellent cover.

  • the reason this is better is cuz jamies vocals make it better thats the only thing that ever made slayer suck was the vocals this is bad ass

  • @van502 the fact that it's a slayer song and without it, a great cover didn't exist, fag.

  • Three Justin Bieber fans gave a thumbs down.

  • Slayer is the shit and Hatebreed did an awesome job covering this song!

  • not bad...Slayer is FUCKING BETTER

  • Don't like Hatebreed that much, but this is pretty good.

  • great cover

  • Hatebreed vocalist is better than Slayers

  • @cisco9x yikes...can't believe you just said that...Jasta himself would smack you across the head.

  • love the cover but noone does it like SLAYER!!!!

  • i like both versions, Original by Slayer and Cover by Hatebreed :D

  • Lot of great covers in this album

I think they should have covered EHG and Venom too but great nonetheless

  • i love hatebreed, but i dont like for the lions as much

  • dont like it its not bad but dont like it

  • that shit kicks in hard

  • This cover is godly. I dont care for hardcore but hatebreed is good and i love SLAYER!

  • @lukevertiis First off, when you respond to someone's comment, you should select the blue "REPLY" button. This cover isn't that good at all. End of story. Now, before you assume that I'm going to call you a "dumb emo fag" (As you would put it) because that's about as pathetic as telling someone "you're talking out of your arse"..Oh, wait..

  • holy shit i fucking love hatebreed's version nd slayers version. they both kick ass

  • SHIT FUCK QUALITY!

  • On the original version of this song from south of heaven the opening riff comes in low...than the rest of the song is clrear and viscious as this.

  • i know but this quality sucks

  • it's not as clear as Slayers version or as good but if your refering to the opening riff(the first 20 seconds)...the quality was like that on the original slayer version of this song and it stays that way on hatebreeds great cover.

  • Great cover, but isn't raw, aggressive and brutal like the Slayer's original. This one sounds too much perfect...

  • Great how they even covered the original intro to the tune as well! They're clearly paying tribute to some real greats on this album - well done I say to them.

  • As covers go, this is a pretty good one. I would not agree with any claim that it's better than the original though. It isn't a competition and even if it were, any song worth covering the first place is only worth covering because the original was a worthy example of what the covering band is aspiring towards. Quite simply, a band doesn't cover any song that's beneath them.

  • @19thcenturyghost WRONG. Death once covered Slayer.

  • @19thcenturyghost Thank you.

  • this is brilliant, i dissagree with you all, slayer did a kick ass version, and hatebreed have made this song there own, its still everything hatebreed even if its written by slayer, this is there interpretation of the song so its always gonna be different, total respect to all artist in both bands

  • Hatebreed didn't "Make this song their own song" at ALL. Seriously, NO artist can cover a Slayer song and do it better than Slayer themselves. This was a mediocre cover, at best.

  • I will say Vader's version of Raining Blood was pretty good on the live in Japan CD. But I do agree with you.

  • Oh, I don't deny that. Vader did a fantastic cover of Raining Blood; I'm choked that I'm missing their show next week, man.

  • hail that slayer and hatebreed are so awesome good cover made it they own

  • @basley2008 amen brother!

  • respect both bands, but this version gets me a hell of a lot more amped up than the original...

  • I love the slayer version but i agree with you. This version is really good. They even covered the solo perfectly. The breakdown of this song is when hatebreed nails it.

  • Slap yourself for that shitty comment.

  • So I can't have an opinion? Slap yourself for being a cunt.

  • damn awesome

  • This sucks compared to the original!

  • Slayer kicks Hatebreed's ass 20 times a day. And Araya's voice is unique, Jasta's sounds like any pissed-off tuff guy hardcore singer.

  • who cares, hatebreed has done an awesome cover. give them the recognition they deserve instead of negative shit

  • Yeah Jasta has that "studio aggression." Tries to hard to be pissed sounding.

  • Studio Aggression? You obviously haven't seen them live. Thats no studio aggression

  • poor taste

  • imagine if slayer re-recorded it!

wait, imagine if slayer re-recorded any of their classics

    id shit

  • out of all the songs hatebreed covered this one is the best one. you can tell they put the most effort into the slayer song. which is expected. covering slayer and messing it up is like going to church every sunday and suckin gods cock.

  • You win analogy of the week!

  • Good cover

  • Guitar is better tuned lower but vocals dont compare to Tom Araya.

  • i guess thats a pretty good job, the c# tuning kind of bugs me though. but i suppose thats everything they play

  • Hatebreed is one of my favs...But SLAYER is untouchable and Hatebreed decided to cover my favorite Slayer song..... i am glad we have the same taste.

They did well, But fell short...the break is not as powerful as Slayer's. not even close. they should have covered "Jesus Saves" it would have suited them better.

if you dont own SOUTH OF HEAVEN

    BUY IT! NOW!

  • Comment removed

  • haha catagory pets and animals :P

  • lol it's a good thing the guitarists stayed downtuned for this otherwise it would sounded TERRIBLE.

  • Fucking Brutal

  • FUCKIN BAD ASS!!!!!

  • I´ve never heard a awesome song like that!

    SLAYER 4EVER!

  • Gaze in thier Eyez as they Die HeLl YeAh

  • awesome cover, but its one drawback was the vocals

  • but thats just hatebreed

  • nice tribute to this slayer-classic

  • where is sean?

  • he left the band

details were not released to the public

  • FUCKING SLAYER!!!! dude can shred

  • Wayne Lozinak tore that up.....very nice to hear a guitar solo from hatebreed....fucking love it
