@MunterE I had to have the seven string routed a bit since the emg's were rectangular and the DiMarzios had the tabs on either side. The same thing goes for the 8 string. I also had the mounting rings made to cover the open routs. It was an easy job though.
@Youreallysuckguy Right now Mike does all the clean sections and solos are almost always turned up by the sound guy. So at the moment I don't have an extreme need for a controller. Plus good midi controllers are pricey as a motherfucker. I plan on getting one ASAP but I need to spend conservatively.
For those of you who have utilized the Four Cable Method, your guitar/wireless can also be run through Input 1 on the rear panel of the AxeFx. I forgot to mention that in the video. This option is very useful in the event that your rack is filled up ad you don't want to run a cable all the way around to the back.
i'm also curious about the cruchlab/liquifire set. How versatile are they? I really do play just about anything, i just cant always get a convincing tone with my loomis model.
@tbeiber09 The CL/LF set is amazing. I obviously do mostly metal work, but they're great for just about any style. Honestly if you listen to the last couple Dream Theater records, thats about as good as an example as you'll find because JP does a lot of different things with a lot of different tones.
@tbeiber09 Thanks dude! All of these upgrades (except for the head and cab) have been made within the last two months so it was a quick and expensive process haha.
Thanks for the info on the 4 cable method! Great video man. What would you say is the main differnece between the D-activators and the crunchlabs? Im looking to ditch my emg81/85 for a nice set of dimarzios. I play mostly rock and a little metal at times.
If you're looking for a more versatile pickup I would recommend the CL/LF. D'Activators are phenomenal pickups, but honestly if DiMarzio made an 8 string CL/LF set I would have used those because I've never been more in love with a set of pickups.
@MrAmbidex1 If by "he" you mean me, I think you heard incorrectly haha. I said Fractal.

When you replaced the EMGs with Dimarzios on the 7 string, did the pickups fit alright in the cavity or did you have to do any special routing?

By the way if anyone here knows of a rackmount wireless that goes for decently cheap, please let me know.

@dwg116 Not a problem, sir! Glad you dig it.
