@smhoodd The best lens in the world can blur when the camera moves fast. Blurring or gelling is related to the camera, more specifically the camera's sensor(s). Blurring also relates to frame rate, and focal length. The 85mm lens will blur as much as ANY lens if it is put on a camera that has a slow frame rate, or a crappy sensor. CMOS sensors (DSLR Sensors) do not like fast camera movement, not even at 60fps.
@smhoodd Fotodiox (nikon-EOS) adapter. The 13$ one works just fine. No need for the 70$ alternative. The 85mm is the sharpest lens I've ever used, ever. Unfortunately it is not a fast lens. It is a manual focus, manual aperture lens. So no, I would never expect the 85mm to work well shooting sports. But there are fast lenses like the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM that are very fast, among others.
Stunningly beautiful. The panning dolly-type shots were amazing. Especially with the deer. Very nicely done. Can't wait to see more when the leaves come back! Definitely glad I subscribed.
Beautiful... Love the deer. How do you get the video to move from right to left like that so smoothly? Is that what you are talking about in messages below called the Slider? Fantastic work here :-)
Such a fantastic vid. In my favorites for sure. I'm looking for a new fluid head tripod as well as one of those sliders. I can't seem to find the sliders. I just haven't looked hard enough though. I know they're out there.
terrific!...I can't believe I love the deer shots (deer bore the shit out of me --you made them look a thousand times more interesting than they are in real-life)
@FromUnderTheRock I don't have to tell you about the deer in SNP. They pretty much run the show up there. Unless something suddenly moves. Then they run away.
I spent almost a week camped at Big Meadows...the thing I love about SNP is being able to hike from one restaurant breakfast to the next restaurant breakfast :^)
You appear to have done something to get that slider to look better than anything you've ever done with it before -- and that's saying something considering this is an 85mm lens.
Some of these shots were magical. Add a fake sky or adjustment layer or something -- and those deer shots will look better than most stock footage that costs a fortune. Some of these shots also had "EX3" style sharpness, and that's simply amazing for 1/8th the price.
@drewnetwork I did modify my slider, and it seemed to work, but with way, way too much effort, and multiple takes, not to mention post stabilization for nearly every clip. This lens is unbelievable. I'm really enjoying figuring out how to properly work it. It is tac sharp. The focus ring rolls like butter. You were right about taking photos in movie mode. 1/8th the price, just amazing.
I'm about to Google "how to add a fake sky". I'm unfamiliar with the technique, big surprise.

This seems 3 dimensional & I think the deer were prancing & showing off for the camera ! Words can't express the beauty you captured !

@cheesestr4wz Cheese, the deer are show offs. For both the camera, and each other ha. Thank you, glad you enjoyed.
