Thank you sooo much words cannot begin to express my gratitude. May God bless you for taking time to consider people like me. I love the way to explain every word in full detail. I will be walking through each chapter with you as my professor teaches it lol soo lets get that A together lol! "Thank you again"
HI there ! What computer program are you using to explain this lesson ! I love it and wish my school explained things this way. It's all lecture with no visuals. This helps tremendously !!!!!!
Good Video. I was just questioning about the layers of the epidermis. I thought it goes from stratum basale, spinosum, granulesum, lucidum, up to stratum cornium. You said lucidum instead of spinosum, so were you talking about what is lucidum or spinosum??
I'm not trying to be bombastic or something, but the science teacher gave us a paper in which it is drawn like that.
STRATUM LUCIDUM occurs in thick skin only. It consists of a few rows of flat, dead keratinocytes. Its cells are identical to those at the bottom of the more superficial layer stratum corneum.
** From deep to superficial it goes Stratum Basale, Spinosum, Granulosum, Lucidum, Corneum.
i wish my teacher was easy to understand like this she just briefly goes over the notes and hurries through the powerpoint and i end up never knowing what she's talking about :(
Just an addition, another barrier of protection, biological barriers such as antigen identification and macrophages, which protect against foreign threats.
I loved how you explained so easily the detail, and importance of the integumentary system! Thank you!
I know you must get a lot of thank you's but I dont think you realize how much things like this means to people. I hate physiology and its just one of the very important courses in my major. If it wasnt for this vid I probably wouldnt understand ANYTHING having to do with skin or hair- my prof is from russia and barely speaks english, and were expected to learn all of anatomy and physiology in a matter of 12 weeks!!! sooooo..., all in all, THANK YOUUUUU!!!
I'm glad this video was helpful to you and sorry to hear that you aren't getting the best classroom experience. My class is 11 weeks so believe me I know what you are going through, it's a mountain of material to cover in a short period of time, hence these videos. Also thanks for the kind words, I'm again glad I have helped.
I have a question. You never covered what keratinize really means. So what does that mean??? I always thought it was another word for protein but i am not sure. If you answer this question it will be really helpful because my anatomy teacher mentions alot about keratinocytes and i am lost when he does cover that type of cell.
hate to say this, but you made a mistake in explaining the epidermis. from bottom to top it goes stratum basale, stratum spinosum, stratum granulosum, (stratum lucidum) and then stratum corneum. when you first explained stratum lucidum it should have been stratum spinosum. and then u explained stratum lucidum as the second to last layer as well.
These Videos are my life line. I am taking Bio 141 (A&P1) in college and the teacher I have for the summer is miserable. Basically I go home and watch your videos to teach me these lessons. so Far I have an "A" in this class and its all because of you. I plan on listening to your muscle lecture tomorrow for my test on Friday. Do you have anything on the respiratory system? I looked and could not find if you had a lesson on it or not. Thanks again for all your help.
I don't have anything respiratory related up there yet but will get around to it in a few weeks. And thanks for the kind words and for watching the videos. Keep doing well in your class

Ignorant epidermis. So superficial.

The 2nd layer of the epidermis is stratum spinosum not lucidum

I see someone already mentioned this, but I believe that there is a confusion of Stratum Spinosum with Stratum Lucidum at about 26:45.
