Yeah...When Square ported this over it was in 1997, same year as Final Fantasy VII. That's why the CG graphics are similar to Final Fantasy VII, though they don't look as well. We finally got it in 2001.

BTW for anyone who thinks I am an ignorant child, maybe, all I know is that FF7 and FF8 were both made for the PS1 and they looked much better than this. If you are going to remake a game, remake it right.

@shark235235 They had to have had much less money to make this compared to FFVII and FFVIII. This was a remake, not the next number in the series and this isn't the DS remake where they really tried hard to remake it (after all, they turned a 2D game into a 3D game on the DS), this was probably just your typical low budget remake.

@DivineSlayer1 it's called either SD or Chibi style, one of the most used and most liked styles in Japan as scene with many other series, although i think 4 Heros of LIght will be a bit too much, even for me who enjoys the style

@rayjr1123 The PS1 was running in the megaflops and such. the DS is running on faster clocks and more compressed architectures than the PS1. which was state of the art in... 1994-1998? way to go capt'n obvious! =D

This seriously fails compared to the DS remake's intro FMV. It's worse than even VII's FMVs, and VII was the first FF game to use FMVs!

That's exactly what I thought...what's strange is, I'm pretty sure these were re-released (FMVs added of course) after FF8 (possibly even 9...but I'm not sure). FForigins, 5 and 6 on PS1 all had pretty amazing FMV sequences (5's weren't quite as good in my opinion).

Not trying to sound rude, but for it's time, it was actually pretty bad. This port was released after Final fantasy 7, and it's FMV's looked better than this one (which is odd considering FF7's FMV were the beginning generation of FMV's for the PS). FF8 and FF9's FMV's were absolutely suburb, which made many Final Fantasy fans wonder how FF4(PS) and FF5(PS)'s FMV's were so bad.

I don't damn the game because of the bad FMV, but SquareSoft (at the time) could of put a little more effort to it.

Hey 5's wasn't that bad... its just the grafhics from the ps1 port...I mean really the characters looked like shit(in FMV) in that one, personally I liked the Final Fantasy VIII intro, Damn... that was great!

LunarReplicator08 , that's because this is actually shown in the ending. In the beginning it has no music and only sound effects. It shows the airships powering up and Rosa and Dark Knight Cecil. This version is only shown when you beat the game and it reenacts some of the events in the game but in 3D. Would have made more sense if Square put the CG with the partiuclar scene. This is true in the chronicles version anyway.

Your comparing new CG's with old CG's just look at FF7 Crisis Core CG's for the psp compared to FF7 CG's for the ps1...
