hey that really cool that, u know its really hard to actualy capture spawning eggs on vid cos usualy they hide away, and most of the time u arnt aware of it. My fish spawned inside this pyramid aunament with a hole in, one day saw hundreds of baby fish :)
yeah don't worry, it's normal. it's probably jsut because they're inexperienced, give them a few more trys. generally each time they will go longer than the previous time before they eat them right untill they finally actually look after the newborn fry. some jsut won't get better, they just can't be bred, but more likely than not this will not be the case. better luck next time! :D
My neighbor's just spawned too, and she gave me some. Long story short, I think I hurt their fins when I netted them (if you want to see them, see my latest vid.) Do you have any experience with that? Thanks. And compliments again. I've not been able to keep any of my cichlids with plants, but yours seem to be doing really well with them!
Wow those are cool angels! I love them but I can never keep them. Im not sure they were spawning though I think they were courting (which happens before). If they lay eggs the male builds a bubble nest to protect them. If the top of the water is moving he cant build one. They will care for their own fry (babies) and raise them in a community tank, but once the fry are too big to control the other fish will eat them. Same goes for Siamese fighters.
is it hard to breed ,do u have to have specific requirements?

How big do they have to be to spawn? A have a pair and they are fairly small now.
Guppy116 3 years ago
scotte yes its normal that they eat their eggs. it can be because they have gotten disturbed by something or something else.
At least my angels succesfully takes care of my fry :)

Tandorla... they are spawning.. you have your fish mixed up.. it is the Betta's who have the bubble nest, not angelfish..
CAn you not see the eggs? and the tubes down on both fish?

Do you only have angels in this tank? I am interested in breeding angels.
Heather0516 4 years ago
No, it is a community tank but you do need only angels in the tank to breed and best to have a bare tank. None of the spawn hatched - they ate them.
rhontzu 4 years ago
OK, I see. Thanks.

i have a big angel fish and 2 silver angelfish, but the big one killed 3/5 of the little ones:(
Zanzizan 4 years ago
a rule of thumb is to keep one angelfish, or 4 or more otherwise they will fight for rank. but you want the four you choose to be simular in size
