1:15......see her. shes not Greek or Roman. but an Egyptian influenced by Roman invaders culture, and the previous Greek culture. the image is from a mummy casket. everyone died very young back then.
What a pleasant air :)! The accompaniment reminds me of several later pieces, especially Handel's "Turn, hopeless lover" with its' gentle, caressing line and pure, melting use of the voice. Also, I was actually convinced that a woman was singing the piece before I had a chance to look up the singer in question :D. The voice itself is very pleasant, feminine and well-trained, though it seems to be in need of constant care from the soloist, so light it is. A most interesting new singer :)!
Most lovely aria indeed, I listened to it all evening after I discovered it :)
The singer is one of the handful of natural male sopranos around, often called an endocrinological castrato, this is the only way he can sing, there's no "real man's voice" hiding somewhere in the bottom.
Belo,belo,belo!.

You're Russian, right?
Then you might enjoy this, one of his better performances and sung in Russian.

An absolutely astonishing, captivating voice no matter how many times I hear it. Excellent production, too. Saved to My Favorites.

The music is very beautiful too, after listening to this work I can only wonder why isn't Fux a lot better known as a composer.

A mix of Cavalli and Handel one reviewer called it somewhere.
