La canción sonó por vez primera en 1980 y se volvió éxito a mediados de esa década maravillosa...Pero en la voz de otro Australiano: Rick Springfield. La versión de Rick conserva el bajo típico ochentero y es un poco más rítmica...Pero la original es más delicadita, suave y agradable para escuchar con los ojos cerrados. wow I am a loooooong time Rick Springfield fan, but this original is really good too. They both have their merits, don't bash Springfield's version just because he remade it, they say imitation is the highest form of flattery. It is a beautiful song no matter who does it.

This is a beautiful song, it speeks volumes to me. Sends a shiver down my spine. I think Mondo Rock's guitarist, Eric McCusker penned this classic. I look upon Rick Springfield's version of this song as Rick just tipping his hat to Mondo Rock. A great Australian song.

Ricks version is cheap and hollow. Only someone sufferring from ADD would rate ricks impatient and ultimately frustrated mess over this careful and deep rendition.

@slorta my thoughts exactly... on a musical level, every moment of this version is considered and crafted... when the US release of this single was edited and didn't impress radio DJ's (you know, the same guys that push the 'quality' stuff), thus failing... so, the rest of the world knows Rick's very washed down and in my mind, forgettable version.

I'm not the biggest fan of Mondo Rock, but I know when a band labours over a song...

@slorta If you say so, though THAT comment is of the genre of "people who don't like [fill in your fave artist] are retarded" (as if tastes in music a 100% objective and expect EVERYBODY'S taste to be exactly the same - Some people say things like "if you don't belong to the religion I'm in and believe EXACTLY what I believe, than it is an inceontestible fact that you are going to hell.")  Mondo Rock's version IS obviously well-laboured over. I just prefer it a bit faster.

@nzoz1980 :-) No, not like fast food (which appears NOT to be fast food, unfortunately, these days - just all of the empty calories and none of the haste in serving it; it sppears Jack isn't too hungry for his fried egg on his hamburger, he prefers to get fat at his leisure)... more like "intestinal hurry", but this version IS interesting, and the fact that it wasn't huge in (North) America obviously makes this superior by default... :-)

ross is the boss! I remember the lounge lizards tour with ross, angry anderson and doc neeson with angels as backing band. went off at the metro in sydney when one of the three was singing the others were sitting back on a lounge on stage listening to the tunes-great times

Ah, my favorite college era romance tune ! that and the Tubes " I don't want to wait anymore " ! Another great Aussie band like Men at Work. Great vocal, lyrics, clothes, band, studio production, and all done in the pre computer age too ! Wish more bands today had this much class and musical talent. Proof that most life devolves and not evolves after it reaches its peak !  Sue me for being nostalgic, but where did we go from here ? Save us Aussie Rockers !
