  • Maybe a dumb question but is that a "noisy" or "quiet" gear drive?

  • @03mrelectric "Noisy" gears sounds like straight cut gears, sorta like on some superchargers or maybe an old truck transmission with straight gears. "Quiet" gears are for guys that want to run a gear driven camshaft, but don't want the noise.

  • damn my dad had a sick 83 with gear drive, cam, exc. and man it sounded sick. i just wish i coulda got a vid of it before he sold it... : (

  • SOUNDS LIKE YOU NEED A NEW POWER STEERING PUMP MAN CANT HEAR CRAP OVER THAT NOISE!!!!

  • @thunderup86 thats a gear driven timing set.

  • @thunderup86 haha wow you are dumb.. that is the gear drive...

  • @hectre13 you do realize that guy wrote me back telling me he had power steering pump problems right? lol major fail!! go cut my grass.

  • @hectre13 I was talking about another guy sorry i get alot of comments lol but yeah man I bad power steering pump sound like a strong gear drive buddy no need to get rude though I was not putting down your junk car

  • @hectre13 epic sarcasm failure

  • i would love to hear a gear driven turbocharged v8, the 3 best sounds all under one hood!

  • WHOOOPSIE!!!!! haha

  • Nice build

  • wow that gear drive is music to my ears

  • @hectre13 any false knock?

  • @Nater36

I don't think so, but to tell you the truth, I don't know what false knock is...

  • daily driver? gear drive get annoying? any problems resulting the gear drive?

  • @Nater36

it deff is not a daily driver, the gear drive really isnt as loud as the video makes it seem, my car is dyno matted on the whole interior, its not bad at all.

  • @hectre13 you put your interior on the dyno ? , fuck man you are hardcore

  • @RReaper100, seriously, you are about useless as a kickstand on a 3 wheel trike, if you are trying to be a troll, seriously you fail at it, NOOB!

  • @SpiritsoftheWolf whatever you say tonto

  • @Nater36

  • @Nater36 gear drive solves problems, doesnt cause them. Prevents high rpm tooth jumping of the chain

  • From my testing I found that noisy ones are to noisy for the street and the quiet one is to quiet :P Cant find a brand that makes them "in between" .. :-/

  • @Mfilipcewicz man up and get the noisy one lol

  • did you use the third gen 350 motor or is it an older 350 motor without teknock sensorto run the gear drive

  • @romannaputi I am running a truck block actually.. but it is a block from an 88.. but i am not using the knock sensor.. because I am running carbbed.

  • @hectre13 what exactly is a gear drive?

  • @MrHondaatc125m Gear drive means the camshaft is driven by gears rather than a chain or belt.

  • what brand gear drive is it?

  • haha.. proform

  • Highly respect that ride. I adore It. I like the Idea of gear drive, but I don't like the noise. What benefits do you find vs timing chain??

  • You can get quiet ones too... I like the noise.. One of the benefits is your timing can be dead on then, not only that but what else screams built engine then a noisy gear drive? But like I said, you can get quiet ones, you'll pay more for 'em though.

  • There is no such thing as a quiet gear drive, a better name would be less noisy. For a street vehicle there is no benefit to a gear drive.

  • There are quiet ones too... I've seen them in books, but if you'll look online you can find them too... You can find three kinds, Quiet, Noise (Standard) or Loud.

  • Technically you're correct, there are "noisy" ones, and "quiet " ones; however they're all still noisy.

  • Thank you, as for the "quiet" ones still having noise I can't comment on that because I've only seen and heard the "noise" (Stanard) or a "loud" one. It seems on this we're both right, I'm right that you can get a "quiet" one and your right that it still makes noise..lol.

  • for quieter gears you need the teeth cut at a higher angle. for a "normal" cut, its around a 10-15' angle depending on the brand

  • sry need to correct myself its the quieter ones that are cut at an angle

  • noise! yes!

  • Awesome! I'm going to install a gear drive on my trucks engine...Built the engine but didn't do it then...nothing major though...lol... love that sound!

  • That's Mike.
