mine is a 2008 macbook bought in march before the new model. I have applecare and my battery is really bulging and visibly sticking outside its battery bay. It still works But Apple refuses to replace it after they had me read how many recharge cycles it had etc. They called me back offering a battery replacement at their cost of $100. I have to add I just had it serviced when speakers stopped working. They found damage caused by a spill waiving the $460. charge so I cant really bitch can I?
wow thats barely even bluging compared to mine. it was totally bugled out and the cover was falling off and the battery stopped working. now im just on the power cord with no battery until it gets fixed :(
If you have one of the following problems, your battery will be replaced free of charge:
* Battery is not recognized causing an X to appear in the battery icon in the Finder menu bar.
* Battery will not charge when computer is plugged into AC power.
* Battery exhibits low charge capacity/runtime when using a fully charged battery with a battery cycle count (as shown in System Profiler) of less than 300.
my moms macbook can only stay on while it is plugged into an AC wall outlet, and if the charger is taken out, it turns off! does that count of getting a free battery?
The company who made the battery for the mac book pro messed up some were in production. Depending on when you got the computer the battery was recalled.
You need to contact Apple and tell them about it. If your machine is still under warranty they should just send you a new battery and a box to send your defective battery back to them.
only mac

I ain't worried about it. If the battery melts the Macbook Pro, I got two more years on my warranty. I never hardly even use battery power.

Took mine to an apple store and they replaced it since it was still under warranty. I bought an extra battery anyway while I was in the store.
