  • FREE CRAIG JONES(political prisoner in Canada)!

  • A great tune, 60's luv child feel. Yet the Monkees saw it as a simple wannabe tune. But bit was their #1 seller of all time.

  • I remember the comparisons to the Beatles way back, and I agreed. However, they had such great songs and did such a nice job, it really just didn't matter to me. I loved them almost as much as the Beatles. If they had been a bad copy, you could throw them out the window. However, some of their songs, like this one, are simply irreplaceable, unique and beautiful.

  • Davy Jones is English, other original band members were from LA, USA.

  • The Monkees were formed in Los Angeles in 1966.The original members were American except for Davy Jones who is English. Worldwide, they've sold over 65 million singles and albums.

  • they sound british when they sing :)

  • @coffeeandjelly The lead singer Is from Manchester :)

  • @coffeeandjelly Davy is british.;-)

  • #72(Tie)

  • i love this song! and im 16. yeh buddy!

  • @nickkstar Winning.

  • @nickkstar So? My little brother have 14 years old, and he love this music :)

  • Looking back, THE MONKEES got a lot of mileage for a group that was thrown together for television... two actors + two musicians = world fame ... and more important, they made the day for millions of girls 7-14 (and a legion of older fans who would not identify themselves -- HA !). This is their signature work, likely to be heard for the next 100 years... it's got heart, message, harmony and a lot more ... this video has a LOT OF DRUMS, but WHO CARES, it's a CLASSIC !!

  • shit rubbish and crap are words that are absolutely wrong to describe this song as. it is great

  • this version sounds epic!!!!!

  • I could thumbs up this all day

  • wish I was young again and carefree...

  • the farcry 3 ad was pretty cool lol

  • The Beatles are still better...

  • @MrHappy2148 But not by much :-)

  • He's strumming his tie.

  • I like the part where they all gather around the piano

  • songs are no longer written like this! the monkees, beetles etc! they were so fun, cheerful & happy. now they are all about partying, sex, drugs, greed etc. kind of sad. love classic songs like this! think i grew up in the wrong musical era! :D

  • @lepop88 I agree 100 percent....I love the classics beatles beach boys hermans hermits monkees all of em (:

  • @lepop88 Are you honestly saying the Beatles songs aren't about Sex and Drugs?

  • @lepop88 The Monekees were a reality TV band! Not so much soul, sorry

  • I love the Monkeeys, I grew up watching the show in the 1980's....

  • Reminds me of amazing times and wild parties when I was younger.

  • this was my first record ever!

  • My mommy sang this to me when i was a baby by the way im 13 and i luvvv this song

  • Great Quality, Amazing Song, Fantastic Band... I grant thee knighthood and the greatest video/song/quality.

  • Mike Nesmith - John Squire Davy Jones/Mickey Dolenz- Ian Brown.

  • Axl Rose obviously learned how to dance from watching Davy Jones. Davy was so cute! And this is a great song.

  • The catchiest song of the 60's IMHO

  • Loved the shuffle Davy Jones did...CLASSIC!!

  • It looks like Davy Jones is the true inventor of the Dougie!! Go Davy!

  • What do you know! He finally figured out how to put strings on his guitar. Good for him.

  • Davy Jones the early Justin Bieber:P

  • Whats with this shambolic use of the 80's-qsq music style overlay!

  • @spikeman14 this was a re-released single during the 80,s during the second wave of monkeemania, to be able to market better to the 80,s crowd they raised the mix of the drums and made it more dynamic, for the worse in my opinion

  • Sing star legends brought me here

  • @Kaynas1988 Don't forget that Davy Jones is actually English! We get everywhere you know... ;-)

  • I love the fake instrument playing..shame they got gippoed on playing instruments for real on the show or songs

  • @extremeconcepts1 tambourine was 100% real

  • As a 60 year-old-kid it is impossible not to daydream when I see and listen to this video. They were part of my youth and stir some of my most cherished memories. Sigh!

  • One of their best !

  • Though this song came out the year I was born, I had such a crush on Davey Jones

  • Now I know where Axl Rose got his funky Welcome to the Jungle dance!

  • Ok lets get crazy at 2:27, Davey has the coolest hair.

  • I don't think anyone is going to compare them to the Beatles but it is a great song and should be recognized as such...regardless of who wrote or performed it.

  • I think I just noticed how short Davy is.

  • @TheRivalBands : The perfect size for all the little teeny boppers who went all gaga over him. Personally, it makes me gag gag. I do like this song. The Beatles were so much better.

  • The Monkees-the American answer to The Beatles

  • @Kaynas1988 : That's really stretching it. After Sgt Pepper I'd say that Moby Grape would earn that distinction when it comes to talent. This is a great song though.

  • @pmoyer50 Yeah it a great song isn't it, along with Last Train To Clarkesville

  • @Kaynas1988 lead singer is british

  • @Kaynas1988 Apart from one of them being English :)

  • @Kaynas1988 They should be.But Micky Dolenz says in his biography "It´s often been said that the Monkees were America´s answer to the Beatles.Nothing could be further from the truth. That would be like saying Star Trek was Hollywood´s answer to NASA´s space program."Though I know what he means, I think it´s a little harsh to say it like this.I love them both,Beatles and Monkees.

  • fact, axel rose studied his davey's, dance moves from this video for the welcome to the jungle video!

  • For all of you who enjoy classic videos like this check out my channel Rememberthesixties I have hundreds of great videos for you to enjoy

  • Can you back that up that susan boyle is playing tambourine? Or are you being silly?

  • @BoyGeorge84 Susan Boyle also recorded a popular version of this song, and Micky Dolenz, playing the tambourine here decades ago, looks a damn sight like a young version of her. It is a funny coincidence and I think the comment was meant to point this out in a comical way.

  • He does look like tom cruise

  • Good stuff!

  • Who else came here because of the book The Awakening? XD

  • @Jazzmineanime WHAT?!?!

  • BUENISISISIMA CANCION EXCELENTE MUSICA .. RECUERDOS DE MAMA!

  • El papa de Tom Cruise , casi ni se parece

  • get susan boyle of the stage, she is ruining that tamberine......

  • Mickey looks freakin rediculous and Davey looks like Austin Powers.

  • @Shaneworld5978 Davey is reminicent of Austin Powers period. I think Austin Powers is in fact Mike Myers' Davey Jones impression.

  • @kittymouse86 Thats what I was thinking. Davey was the ladies man.

  • 1:10 Axl Rose ripped off Davy's dance moves....

  • susan boyle nails this track, hands down (Y)

  • <3 Mickey :D

  • This is a happy song to start the day!

  • If Subo is playing the tambourine she's lost an awful lot of fu**ing weight lately!

  • Micky Dolenz is playing the tambourine :)

  • Great song!

  • im from london uk and as a kid in the 60's the monkees were bigger than the beatles FACT

  • great song this!

  • I love this song

The first time I heard it in the movie Spongebob Squarepants in the episode "Spongebob Squarepants vs. The Big One"

After hearing the song, I immediately searched google and I finally got it :D

  • What's the deal with this mix?

  • how much babby do we really need

  • this is where axel got his dance moves from haha

  • Just wondering, what is the gender of the lead singer?

  • @thebeatgoeson50 He's a cute little fella named Davy Jones. 60-odd years old and still pretty much looks the same :)

  • lisa pilarski lovves this song

  • What number is this, Jim?

  • why does the first singer remind me of Mark Owen from Take That?

  • Love it !

  • I love at about 1:50 or so, Micky's hand goes through the tambourine. :)

  • @Edwardgirl696 lol I agree.. It was a fantastic book and the song is very catchy( been humming it all day) :) What did you think of the book?

  • @Brittney123ish It has to be one of my favourite books. I do wish they were longer though.

Oh yeah and then there was the awkward moment my friend walked in on me singing along to this vid...

  • oh yeahhhh

  • My theme song! I have a photo of myself and Davy on my bureau. My name is Jean, of course. He's a great guy!

  • Who remembers the sit-com ?

  • The Monkees today, is called big time rush, it's funny how everthing repeats it self

  • This is back when "musicians" actually had to have talent to succeed.

  • Nice music, but his voice is too squeaky for me.

  • 11 people are crazy

    thumbs if you agree

  • Davy Jones looks an awful lot like Tom Cruise.......Could he be his dad?

  • they were made to be a copy of the beatles...

  • @JhOn021 true... but even the beatles themselves said they were more like the Marx Bothers as did a lot of others. It didn't ruin them though. It only proved a pointed but also allowed for individuality which showed. Fair play to em, and so they laughed... all the way to the bank!

  • this is real music, original lyrics, not auto tuned and live. It's just awesome

  • That has got to be the coolest shirt ever!

  • Awesome! Thank you!

  • Peter Tork - the ultimate Monkee!!

  • Mike looks like the group's accountant.

  • Aaaah you kids are all so tough today. Gay gay... no not gay just easygoing, relaxed, smart, talented, confident, unbrainwashed, beautiful... it's how it used to be, fun and simple.

  • Spongebob brought me here ;)

  • @alexisbug9 Wait, how?

  • @FetaCheese222 Theres a part where the flying Duchman gets thrown into "Davy Jones' Locker" And this random man came singing and said "Thats right! Your in my locker! To a dayyy dream believer, and a homecoming queen!" and then this song started to play a bit. I basically looked up what he said, and this is what I got. I really like it. Thanks spongebob!
