bought this game and really love it - Check out my channel as ive started a narrated walkthrough in 1080p :) we also do all sorts of stuff, but our main other thing is minecraft. We'll be doing battlefield 3 and a co op playthrough of dead island :D weve had good feedback so far and if you do take the time to look i hope you enjoy :) thanks for your time!
@Splugger i changed my mind, it's not going to be like Portal, after watching a few trailers, I really think it's going to be like Splinter Cell Conviction and Mass effect 2 ans Crysis combined = (
I keep thinking Ubi Soft Montreal when I see Eidos Montreal.
If the action gameplay ends up anything like Splinter Cell: Conviction, then I'm in.
And I loved the original Deus Ex. I am willing to say it is my favorite game of all time. I spent a lot of time on that one as a yout'. So engaging, and the plot just destroys most of the crap attached to modern day FPS's (a few exceptions).
@oOMakotoOo But if the stealth is like Splinter Cell Conviction, I'm not buying. I want proper stealth, not puzzle action like the latest Splinter Cell.
played Deus ex, the most amazing game at its time and i still remember the awsome single player. then i played Deus Ex 2, not great. Now this game looks fucking awsome :) all deus ex fans will get it, i cant wait! I am getting this, battlefield 3 and one more game for summer.
@Airwaves317 Yeah, just felt right considering the endings to the original Deus Ex, I always saw the Helios merger as canon. Non-lethals just give you a lot more to work with you know, makes it very taxing.
@cerberuscore7 Ah, but it wont be like the first Deus Ex where you waited a few seconds for the NPC to resume patrol. I think this time round the AI will be a little less "derp I heard noise, I'm going back now".
@TheAlyGator94 herp derp! lol yeah most likely. "patience is key" will still be essential though i figure, if you can manage to conceal yourself long enough and hide corpses etc. etc. but if you mess up once yeah that could be difficult. but again i love a challenge. i absolutely love stealth (and prefer it) but i'm not afraid to go Chuck Norris if i have to. =)
A worthy successor to "Deus Ex"..based on the trailers and teasers plus am glad Square Enix give Eidos Montreal a chance to polish up the game (whether that was due to "Mindjack" or whatever etc)
What I really like though is how much they added to the combat. It'll be a bit more actiony then the original Deus Ex' formula of "Stand perfectly still and aim for the heads", or "run up to enemy, swing sword oblivion style until he's dead", or even "Shoot tranquilizer dart, hide and wait until he passes out", etc.
The gameplay reminds me a lot of Deus Ex, which is good. People are worried about the cover thing, but uh cover was already kind of part of Deus Ex combat anyways, and really makes sense since the whole point of Deus Ex was infiltration. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to spec your character to never need cover just like in DE. The cover would be there for people who'd rather sneak past enemies.
Also not everything Square touches turns to crap. Just Cause 2 is a good example (ps. it owns, hard).
i think this game looks awsome, and i think its about time a developer brought out something new and fresh rather than the same old shit just polished up.when it does grace our shops it will be a great day for gamers all over the land, amen!
this game will be good if there is free roam if not i will not buy it and neither should any of you. also does anyone know if this game has free roam? if its straight forward like halo or more like an elder scrolls game?
@Pretzelwaffles well maybe for you i will personally rent the game from blockbuster play it through and return it and never play it again if there is no replay value

@RepoOne lol no no no, god no. The soundtrack to DE was and is amazing. It doesn't even coincide with the storyline of the original Deus EX. The gameplay is completely different and the equipment completely fictional. The dissasembling hand would cause for the joints to be weak and not suitable for frequent impacts.
The techology is also much more advanced than the original Deus Ex. Even if there was a revolution or world wide war, technology and information is not completely lost, especially in the digital age.
@foreign96man they are mechanically augmented not nanoaugmented like the first game. Its a completely different technology so of course its isn't going to look like the first game.
@foreign96man How is the technology more advanced than Deus Ex? Nanomachines, even simple ones, are more advanced when compared to current technology than bionic limb replacements. One is available in primitive forms in the domestic market, one is not and won't see use in the private sector for decades.
Also, his hand could be designed in the same manner as diving equipment i.e. the individual components can disassemble quickly but through pressurization are incredibly durable when connected.
@ByronMBoon I know that, my question 'How is the technology more advanced than Deus Ex?' was directed towards a previous commenter. His argument was that the cybernetic and bionic augmentations of this prequel are more advanced than the nanotech that featured in the original game - which simply isn't true.
they should just remake the first deus ex in next gen graphics with an extended story, more weapons and nano upgrades and more convo options and more missions, jc denton was one of the illest characters of gaming history, i loved the story, fuckin awsome man, that game changed my life man i was so hooked i played it start to finish like ten times, this game looks ok but it dont look or feel like a deus ex game, i hope they dont fuck up a great franchise, invisible war was dope too
@TheHardcoreBastard The original Deus Ex doesn't need remaking, the gameplay feels just as fresh today as it did at the beginning of the milennium and simply adding HD graphics and more missions to the equation won't alter that one iota.
@JimmyColls get the fuck outta here, the frame rate is atrocious and the movement is clunky, in next gen graphics and with more options iy would introduce a whole new generation to a game that has to be experinced by every gamer, deus ex has arguably the best story line and dialouge interaction of a game ever but the look of the game hasnt aged well, aint nuffin wrong with a little make over
@TheHardcoreBastard There's no need to swear. I was agreeing that Deus Ex has great story and character interactions, but I think may people would agree that a brand new experience aiming to reach the same level of quality is preferable over 'a little make over' of a game that (despite the dated graphics and animations, though I've never noticed problems with the framerate) is just as enjoyable today as the day it was released for the reasons you yourself mentioned.
@TheHardcoreBastard I agree that modern gamers should get to experience Deus Ex, but I think the PC version should be released on XBL and PSN as it is. There's no point in sinking money to upgrade a game's graphics if 1) there's nothing truly "wrong" with them to begin with and 2) the game was lauded for its gameplay and storytelling innovations and was never regarded as a visual standout even in its day.
Gamers fall in love with Deus Ex because it's a great game, outdated graphics be damned.
@dutyfan11 Nah Metal Gear's a totally different game.. though it does contain some conspiracies.. its not like this kinda free roam go into cities game.
@randommagik6 PM'ed, but yeah, i have - never knew those augs allowed passage through trip beams, though...it's still stupid, imho - put a piece of glass in between a laser sensor and it'll register.
@insertgenericnameher How paradoxical - my point is that the dev team got lucky with DX1, as evident by them failing at the second attempt with DX2 - thus, it should be considered a hindrance that the original dev team is involved. You listing their other failures only supports my case.
1) @ the most liked post - I don't see how a development team that made a miracle of a game, didnt learn from it, made a horrible game (the most recent), and then went into hiding for 5-ish years could really be held in high regard, as the point implies. So...so what if the original developers of the series are working on it - just means it'll likely be more like IW than the original... :/
2) @ this video - how does cloak not set off laser trips?!?
I'd rather watch girly men with long hair riding on chickens, than another "war hero/depressive war hero" with a retarded square face and an IQ of around 60.
@CloudTempest Nah, thats the Square part. Square and Enix are 2 companies that merged together. THIS trailer shows the Enix part. Watch something like Final Fantasy Versus XIII, THAT is Square.
Have to say that despite feeling Deus Ex is clearly the greatest game of all time - my expectations for this game are high at best.. From what I've seen of your GAMEPLAY videos, it's not really true to the prescedent set by Deus Ex all those years ago. The user interface is console-esque, the gameplay appears simplified and counter-intuitive and it's all a bit too glossy for a story made in the shadow of Deus Ex.
I expect you to chase a market share though - yet hope to be plesantly surprised
@StephenTheSte I was similarly anxious at first, but be reassured in that this new Deus Ex has a pretty much identical interface to the original. Even the console versions have similar inventory / augmentation interfaces as the original game, just with a little more visual flourish.
@klacek59 No, it's more akin to Quantum Of Solace from what I can gather, First Person for gun play and Third Person for special/melee attacks and possibly taking cover.
My #1 most anticipated game. Deus Ex was incredible and I even really enjoyed Invisible War. Human Revolution checks all the right boxes and I am 90% sure that it will be one of my favorite games in a long time.
@Daudethater - No, only when he equips the gun. If you look closer, he uses his Strength Aug to lift that container he hops up on - this 'unequips' whatever he was previously using. Once he drops it, the gun is re-equipped, which involves the 'lift-and-cock-gun' animation. You'll be able to jump up on things without that problem, don't worry. ;)
@montablac Golden question. I'm thinking the game is gonna put you in situations where it seems you have to fight, but the keen-eyed will find a way out.
@montablac - I've heard that this is possible, although I'm not sure to what degree. If you recall, you couldn't play through Deus Ex 1 without being forced to kill a few characters for the plot (Spoiler: Gunther, Anna, Simons, etc.)
The interface looks like DX2, the inventory management system looks like DX1...so far I've yet to see anything uniquely impressive aside from the movie sequences...which is not THAT impressive considering the current gen of graphic in video games.
I hope there would be more than this when it's actually released.
Everyone get original DX and get some graphics mod for it, they can make all the difference. There is a ton of bad design in this threequel(mainly the monotonous coloring), but still gonna get it(now that i bought DX11 VGA!) I'll never stop missing a remake project for DX like Black Mesa for original HL.
@635574 - The monotonous coloring isn't -that- monotonous. Plus, it's a stylistic decisios; I, for one, don't have a problem with it. Some of my favorite cyberpunk films were 'overly stylized' in their design (Blade Runner.) What are the other bad design decisions? Art, or game?
What excites me about this game is that it looks like, even if the game is not a good Deus Ex, it will still be a good enough game in its own right to be thoroughly enjoyable (something Deus Ex: Invisible War did not really accomplish).
i have never played a game of this series. is it good? does it have a competitive multiplayer? any other modes? how much time do you spend on the game? will it come out for the 360?
@Black8035 20 or so hours is actually short for an RPG. Fallout New Vegas has more than 100 hours. Mass Effect is probably the shortest RPG I've ever played. It could be anywhere between 20-100 hours. I'd realistically put it at 40-60.
@Black8035 - It's been confirmed that DX:HR will have between 20-30 hours of gameplay, depending on how many side-missions you do, and how you choose to do them. I think it'd be more fair to compare DX to a first-person Splinter Cell game than Mass Effect, if only because you have stealth alternatives to confrontation, and the choice to avoid it altogether. Since this will be your first DX game, I highly recommend to you pick DX1 up - cheaply - from Steam!
@jentario get a pc man, play the first deus ex - still rated the best game ever by many - in CONTEXT tho, graphics are pretty lame cos its ages old now, but damn good fo the day. Someone is working on a mod tho dunno if itll ever be released. DX2 was a piece of shit, hopefully this one will be better...

You listing their other failures only supports my case.
dragontoothdw 1 year ago
1) @ the most liked post - I don't see how a development team that made a miracle of a game, didnt learn from it, made a horrible game (the most recent), and then went into hiding for 5-ish years could really be held in high regard, as the point implies. So...so what if the original developers of the series are working on it - just means it'll likely be more like IW than the original... :/
2) @ this video - how does cloak not set off laser trips?!?
dragontoothdw 1 year ago
@dragontoothdw 2. thermal cloak, play the other deus ex games
randommagik6 1 year ago
@dragontoothdw 1. by that logic, Deus Ex must suck because ion storm also made daikatana, and we all know that game fucking blows.

Look, you'll know if Square-Enix gets involved b/c you'd see girly men with long hair riding on chickens.

I'd rather watch girly men with long hair riding on chickens, than another "war hero/depressive war hero" with a retarded square face and an IQ of around 60.

@CloudTempest Woah say what ou will about the efeminate men but lay off the chocobos.

@CloudTempest Considering the cutscenes are done by Square-Enix, why don't we see girly men with long hair riding on chickens?
warellis 7 months ago

StephenTheSte 1 year ago
@StephenTheSte I was similarly anxious at first, but be reassured in that this new Deus Ex has a pretty much identical interface to the original. Even the console versions have similar inventory / augmentation interfaces as the original game, just with a little more visual flourish.

will it be like fallout .. I mean ... can I switch betwen FPS and 3PS?
klacek59 1 year ago
@klacek59 No, it's more akin to Quantum Of Solace from what I can gather, First Person for gun play and Third Person for special/melee attacks and possibly taking cover.

@necrobestialerotic. sure is. but if it follows the old DE standard, hud color is changeable.
somberlight 1 year ago
@necrobestialerotic Gold, it's golden.
They said in a Dev Dairy that they chose golden overtones because it's the 'Golden Age' of cybernetic augmentation.
cain19822004 1 year ago
@cain19822004 It still looks orange on my screen. :P
But if there really is an artistic concept behind it, we'll wait and see how it works in the finished game.

My #1 most anticipated game. Deus Ex was incredible and I even really enjoyed Invisible War. Human Revolution checks all the right boxes and I am 90% sure that it will be one of my favorite games in a long time.

Is he gonna cock his gun every time he climbs onto a surface? Wow that is gonna be irritating
Daudethater 1 year ago
@Daudethater - No, only when he equips the gun. If you look closer, he uses his Strength Aug to lift that container he hops up on - this 'unequips' whatever he was previously using. Once he drops it, the gun is re-equipped, which involves the 'lift-and-cock-gun' animation. You'll be able to jump up on things without that problem, don't worry. ;)

Deus Ex = Masterpiece.
Deus Ex: Invisible War = Good storyline, horrible gameplay with awful presentation.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution = Please dont screw it up, take the first game as an example.
And in case you guys fuck up this game, here are few words from JC:
What a shame.

montablac 1 year ago 4
@montablac Golden question. I'm thinking the game is gonna put you in situations where it seems you have to fight, but the keen-eyed will find a way out.
Chucktanium 1 year ago
@montablac - I've heard that this is possible, although I'm not sure to what degree. If you recall, you couldn't play through Deus Ex 1 without being forced to kill a few characters for the plot (Spoiler: Gunther, Anna, Simons, etc.)
MannPower 1 year ago
@montablac Yes.
Yes you can. 8)

The interface looks like DX2, the inventory management system looks like DX1...so far I've yet to see anything uniquely impressive aside from the movie sequences...which is not THAT impressive considering the current gen of graphic in video games.
I hope there would be more than this when it's actually released.

@CuriousPersianCat
You can put DX11 into Solitaire and I wouldn't really care.
Solitaire is awesome in any possible form.
DesertFoxKG 1 year ago
@DesertFoxKG I meant Deus ex 1 graphics.
And I can't see how DX11 in solitaire makes sense for comparison.
CuriousPersianCat 1 year ago
@CuriousPersianCat
I like playing new games and seeing awesome graphics.
But some games are just created to be playable no matter what...
Putting new graphics in them doesn't really change them allot.
Age of Empires 2, Stronghold, Diablo II, MOH Allied Assault...

635574 1 year ago
@635574 - The monotonous coloring isn't -that- monotonous. Plus, it's a stylistic decisios; I, for one, don't have a problem with it. Some of my favorite cyberpunk films were 'overly stylized' in their design (Blade Runner.) What are the other bad design decisions? Art, or game?
MannPower 1 year ago
What excites me about this game is that it looks like, even if the game is not a good Deus Ex, it will still be a good enough game in its own right to be thoroughly enjoyable (something Deus Ex: Invisible War did not really accomplish).

i have never played a game of this series. is it good? does it have a competitive multiplayer? any other modes? how much time do you spend on the game? will it come out for the 360?
jentario 1 year ago
@jentario This will be my first Deus Ex as well.
You can expect something like Mass Effect, but much bigger and more options in how you do your missions.
Singleplayer only - Action-RPG
Since it's an RPG you can expect many hours, 20 or more? I don't know. Wait for reviews.
It will come out for PC, PS3 and 360, early 2011.
Black8035 1 year ago
@Black8035 thanks for the help. it looks great but i want to sea how much it has to offer before i buy it...
jentario 1 year ago
@Black8035 20 or so hours is actually short for an RPG. Fallout New Vegas has more than 100 hours. Mass Effect is probably the shortest RPG I've ever played. It could be anywhere between 20-100 hours. I'd realistically put it at 40-60.
cogar48 1 year ago
@cogar48 @jentario
I hardly play RPG's so that's why I couldn't really estimate how long it will be.
But thanks for the info.
Black8035 1 year ago
@Black8035 - It's been confirmed that DX:HR will have between 20-30 hours of gameplay, depending on how many side-missions you do, and how you choose to do them. I think it'd be more fair to compare DX to a first-person Splinter Cell game than Mass Effect, if only because you have stealth alternatives to confrontation, and the choice to avoid it altogether. Since this will be your first DX game, I highly recommend to you pick DX1 up - cheaply - from Steam!
MannPower 1 year ago
@jentario get a pc man, play the first deus ex - still rated the best game ever by many - in CONTEXT tho, graphics are pretty lame cos its ages old now, but damn good fo the day. Someone is working on a mod tho dunno if itll ever be released. DX2 was a piece of shit, hopefully this one will be better...
