  • In 4:11, why doesn't knight 8a takes the silver?

  • But what would happen if white moves Silver6b after Knight7g?

    Thanks!

  • this game is so much more difficult than normal chess..

  • what when opponent second move will be king on 5b and he will exchange bishop after you move with a knight?

  • Your idea can block initial idea of black ,but after that, white can't move his horce, so black can just move porn to F5, and ask for bishop exchange, and after the exchange, I think white have not good move. F5 bishop won't success because you can't ignore knight exchange because it hits lock.

  • why is the position at 6:30 not good for white

  • It's not that it's good for black.

Black will play R-7h, but it's still OK for white. I mean it's still difficult.

Anyway, since there is a much better way to deal with demon killer, white has no reason to choose that position.

  • What if white plays pawn to D6 ? on his second turn

  • Then demon killer trap won't work. It's just a opening trap, not a strategy in the first place.

  • Thanks Hidetchi, I'll try this opening now in 50 games on shogidojo, which is where I found out about your videos by the way (link on the english page).

How did you make the amazing picture at 00:00-00:07? It's great that you like the aesthetic details of shogi, and not just the moves.

  • Hi.

I'm glad that the opening picture drew your attention.

I set up the position with my own board and pieces, and then took a picture of it. After that, I applied some graphical effect with my PC software.

  • OK, clever, looks like a professional drawing ^^

  • Nice video :). How in Japanise name this kind of trap/trick play? Hamete?

  • You're right. Also called "Kishu".

  • "Onigoroshi"(Demon Killer) is used as the title name of Episode 20 of "Shion no Ou".

  • just a follow up, I used this on one of my friends today during chemistry at school. Not only was he not paying much attention, but got murdered very quickly. He was baffled as to how he lost... it was funny. I'll need to use it on other people in more serious games soon ;]

  • Thank you very much.

Now I understand the idea of Demon Killer.

  • Thank you very much HIDETCHI! I've waited a long time to understand how this sequence worked, lol. I really like the Demon Killer trap, mainly because I play against people who wouldn't know how to reply to it and I play ranging rook more often than static rook. Which brings me to my next request for a future video... more ranging rook strategies. You're doing an excellent job with the lessons, keep up the great work!! ;]
