  • OMG :O that opening music was used by Dimmu Borgir in Sorgens Kammer

  • The music at 5:50 IS NOT from lotus III but from ZOOL

  • @Mazamune

Did you ever play Lotus 3? Is is in fact from that game, but the same tune is also played in Zool.

  • i almost have to cry, what a sentiment!! commodore amiga was a part

    of my life, those days!!

  • SUPER VID.... God this brings back sooo many memories....:) Thanks alot for this vid:) Cheers.

  • at 2:04 superfrog :D you know what i mean ;D

  • Discover Amiga, Discover AmigaOS at amigaos.net

  • man psycnosis games always had the best music

  • Paula,marry me

    hehe

  • Oh man, cool Xenon II after all this years...great music back in the days!

  • man this brings a tear to my eye, i miss the feeling gaming used to give me, seems like everything bar the odd gem now is graphics driven. they forget the atmosphere is in the sound. i miss my amiga ..come to think of it i miss my zx spectrum and thats saying something

  • Lotus \o/

  • Something about Shadow of the Beast is very eerie, something that cant be brought out with todays games, thats what I love about older games

  • So many good memories, i remember getting a amiga 500 for christmas one year which came with what felt like a million games.

  • Amig music = MAGIC!!!

  • I love amiga game my favorite - turican2 and best :D

  • Go Xenon 2!!!

I always loved going to my cousins place, cos he had an Amiga and it was like going to the arcade without the coins!

PCs sucked hard back then (I had an XT(8088)) compared to the Amiga 500.

    Ahh the good ol days.

  • I still can't believe how beast Amiga 500 was so long ago ! Just imagine that PC's weren't that popular those days and the games just ruled on the system, games that we won't find these days around. Pure fun and simple ! Really miss my Amiga 500.. Miss the sound of the loading disk !!!

  • @sebastian2925 Even though it's not the same you should check out WinUAE or buy Amiga Forever, it includes floppy sound (as an option). It is real nostalgia loading those old games, hearing that familiar sound and have fun :) . Also if you got a keyboard with three nice diods on it like I do you can use them as those on a real Amiga to light up for power, diskdrive and harddrive. I suggest that you give it a go :) .

  • also I want to state that the amiga kicks the shit out of PC-Dos any day of the week!

  • Amiga is GOD of computer sound processing. If I had to live life with only three systems it would be NES,SNES and Amiga. that's all!

  • Pinball Fantasies..... what a great game it was..... Love the Amiga....I've still got two operational 2000's....Deluxe Paint has never been surpassed for it's animation tools.. bless you Dan Silva...

  • Those Psygnosis games were pretty messed-up. I miss them.

  • @MrBuch169169 Psygnosis is today called Sony Liverpool, Sony bought them a few years ago... It's nice that they still do make games, if only for Playstations. WipeOut, Lemmings etc. are all on PS3.

  • amigaaaaaaaaaaaa was a big big big part of my life... oh yes shame kids now cant experience it with the stuff they got its a real shame.. there should be a rank think where as a kid you have to start from the beginning of games machines and work your way up eh

  • @pcfaulkner we still have one,it's pretty cool man,i love playing lotus III and goblins, before you ask,no,we don't sell it. sorry man:)

  • 3:25 this that the Death star?

  • I wanted a A500 when I was 15 and I still want one at 39!

  • @zenmonk9003 You mean you missed all the fun back then?

  • @yasswah I had a c128 and that was fun for me. Now Amigas just look like old computers but still I would have liked to experience it for myself.

  • @zenmonk9003 I had a c64 before I got the Amiga. I liked both the machines but Amiga was just amazing!

  • turrican 2 FTW!!!

  • hmmm.... loving it, feeling like I'm 12 again :P

  • Lost patrol and harley davidson also had great music.

  • Such beautiful songs.

  • amiga must come back

  • Always loved the Lotus and Turrican music, great vid!

  • this music was truly revolutionary. the innovation and playfulness in these old tunes is simply amazing!

  • Perfect choice of games and music.

  • BATTLE FREAKEN TOADS

  • Xenon 2, What a game!

  • strange how those sounds got stuck in my head. I just get the feelings sitting in front

of my good old A500 and playing playing those games. thanks for being a great part of my childhood :D

  • Thx for this dude! played every single game in this video xDDD

    Lotus Turbo FTW!!!

  • turikn is the best game i love this :) hehe

  • Lol, didi you every get to 4th in Lotus?

Great music, still have my 1200

  • Hahahah D: Dimmu borgir stole the first song from this game

  • Xenon 2

    O_O

  • great music the best amiga songs ever :-)

  • that PINBALL music was tight

  • Some of those games had more animation frames for the main character then some current games have for the whole product...

  • Great video, but come come now, where is first contact??? and most importantly where is leander??? theres loads of other ones too, you need to do another video with all the brilliant amiga games you have missed out. contact me for further instruction.....

  • @StronglyFancied "First Contact"? Maybe "Full Contact", by Team 17?

  • @mrtomlovin yes thats the one , it had great music on the intro, but , like i say, leander was the best i reckon, eye of the beholder music was good too

  • Lotus 3 - Greatest music

  • Brings back alot of memories, games had a lot more feeling to it back then. Thanks for this video!

  • Dude i cant believe you dont have lemmings 2 the tribes in this. Some of the best music ive ever heard in the lemmings games

  • Amiga music was just pure magic...

... and four channels of 8-bit PCM

    but mostly magic

  • Lotus Turbo Challenge 2 - Music Intro 7:41 the best !!! ;p

  • greatest home computer of all time excelent applications great games better graphics and sounds them the compareable pc's awsome great machine amiga should still be around now log may it live.

  • Bayliss7 spoke the truth, I hated PCs back then and thought they where crap, I had a Amiga and Mortal Kombat on was something else and this was back in 92. IBM PCs just had two tone beeps.

  • The 2nd music of lotus III is ZOOL music....

    But it's still genious music.

  • Just amazing when you think how Amiga had the great sounds, graphics and music at the same time all the PCs could do was beeps.

  • @BenBayliss7

Indeed, it's quite impressive how this machine was released in 1985!

Let's not forget the multitasking either, even though it's not mentioned in this video - the Amiga did great multitasking from the get-go, years and years before this was introduced in Windows (and it quite sucked in older versions of Windows, too).

  • @laffer35

Continued from my original reply to BenBayliss7 -

In fact, I think the Amiga was the second 'home computer' ever to introduce this multitasking... the very first being some Sinclair computer released a year before that was unsuccessful.

I don't know anything more about that, though - no idea how the multitasking worked on that machine, would be interesting to read more about.

  • @laffer35 - OS/9 was a multitasking operating system that predated the Amiga, most notably found on Radio Shack Color Computers and the computers made by Microware.

  • @laffer35 Sinclair's QDOS was task switching (aka cooperative tasking), whereas Amiga used full preemptive tasking where the CPU controlled which programs were executing

    .

Windows did not get preemptive tasking until Windows 95 (and only for 32 bit apps), while Mac did not get it until OS X (2001). That's why they frequently crashed

    .

  • @laffer35 Absolutely. The Amigas were superior in every way, and they could do it all with much less ram.

  • @BenBayliss7

Agreed. Commodore's bankrupcy set back the technological development of both home computers and video games by years! It's quite sad really. I would like to know what the developments would've been if that never happend.

  • @BenBayliss7 Yep, surely the BEST home gaming machine of that era!!!

  • @BenBayliss7

Not really it was very expensive.

  • @BenBayliss7 I bought mine in 1989... amazing machine.... first true multi tasking machine, amazing sound chip in those days.... amiga 500 rules!!!

  • Yes and everything stuffed in one box... too bad it didn't survive. And they exploited the machine's capabilities just later. The best, mindblowing demos appeared only 5-6 years later, on the same hardware. Incredible what the kids did back then! We need this kind of creativity now. Too much uniformity and control these days. So much power, bandwidth and just trash all the time. You have to rummage through tthe Internet to find any resemblance of quality or good information these days.

  • I still say that the AMIGA is still the future. Workbench was 100% error free where as Microsoft windows updates every few years and it gets worse every time and the Amiga could do more than an Apple iPad and that is 25 years later. In another 25 years do you think people would be talking about and Xbox360 or PS3 or an Ipad, People will be talking about Amiga until the end of time...

If Amiga was managed better we would be watching youtube on it today as our home computer......

  • Amiga FTW ;)

  • oh lord yes..... what great games.. i want a time machine to go back and do it all again... sensible soccer anybody?

  • @pcfaulkner swos ftw

  • Ha the "Shadow of the Beast" music only just reminded me then of that level on Lemmings called "A Beast of a Level". I FINALLY understand the pun 20 years later lol!

  • @VegemiteBalls Took me 20 years and 4 days then =(( Only got it when I read your post.

  • almost brings tears to my eyes.amiga 4ever

  • @666bosseh666

    Each mans eyes that remember.

But try to find AmigaOS`s that do live: AROS, MorphOS, AmigaOS 4

    and continue the journey!

  • Soon come, my brother! SAM 460 and 440 for now!

Really loved the Amiga 4ch music! Paula was best part of OCS, so sad it was not improved

over time (slow Commodore then, CUSA even worse!).

Now, from today perspective, a bit too much electronic but better then beepers and early Sound Blasters.

Blessing is that in my SAM I&I have Sound Blaster Live 5.1 so Sound Blaster goes Amiga!

  • whats the name of the game at 3:00 ? i used to play it alot it was awsome!

  • @BigHater007 Turrican 2

  • @weaselfierce Niice. I remember now. Awsome game!

  • goddamn is that a sample from Harry Enfield's "Loadsamoney" sketch used in the game at 7mins 30?

  • toki had the best music. still plays in my mind.

  • Turrican 1 and 2 have a very good music i remember when i was child T_T

  • Amiga is a real life! :)

  • Zool actually recycled a couple of slightly remixed tracks from Lotus 3. The one that's in this clip, and the hard rock tune. Gremlin = lazy gits :)

  • i tak najlepsze jest intro w monkey island

  • this kind of music sounds so much like italo disco

  • @Serpico261

    Italo disco is great :D

  • @laffer35 it might be electro house

  • @laffer35 then you have a good taste of music

  • I like how Dead Space extracted the computerized, wall-mounted shops that were used in Alien Breed. Thougght I'd add that.

  • 7:29 Amiga game music with human voice for the first time ?

  • Amiga game music is the greatest :D

  • xenon 2 was a genius game + music

    Bomb the bass!

  • Present game makers... listen and take note!

  • Ok this is annoying me, HOW stronger was the amiga sound chip from The Super nintendo sound chip/?

  • @SNESosT A lot. XD

youtube (DOT) com/watch?v=s2kAPcMDExE or seach for "cannon fodder amiga vs snes"

    and go to 2:22

Read my other comment for more (stupid youtube >:( )

  • @SNESosT

The Amiga's 8 Bit "paula" can play samples over 250 KB and can even play CD tracks.

The Snes's sound has 16 bit sound but some genius at Sony decided that 64 KB is far enough

thus therefor the Snes's soundchip can sound a bit dull at times and will struggle to do voice or any other sample.

Thus the title of the most powerful soundchip of the 16 bit era goes to the Amiga

but there is no reason to annoyed, the SNES has still the most powerful soundchip from the Console era ;)

  • You forgot Apidya. That to me had some of the best music.

  • Incredible

  • its seems to be a good console, i only heard of it , it has good games?

Nice video by the way and nice compilation

  • 2:01 that song reminds me of what homosexuals would march to in a gay parade.

  • The second turrican 2 song featured in this video I can't find the whole song anywhere on youtube could someone point me in the right direction?

  • @mrwh00pee watch?v=4zGtQ0Zld8E is the one :)

  • agony was such a master piece in 2D gaming I still get a "wow" feeling when I law my eyes upon the beauty of the game.

  • I am going to Babbage's right now this minute and buying me an Amiga!

  • And now the religious fruit "journalists" are bragging that the their idol's hardware can do what the amiga could do 15 - 25 years ago

  • And now the religious fruit "journalists" are bragging that the their idol's hardware can do what the amiga could do 15 - 25 years ago

  • Ohh man were the graphics really that bad lol I loved my amiga! brought the CD rom for it too and a gen lock, extention hard drive expansion ram etc etc etc .... loved it :) ohh happy days ..

  • You could do a whole video based purely on the Pinball Dreams, Fantasies and Illusions games. I'm still yet to find a pinball game that comes close to the amount of fun I had with those.

  • soundtrack agony's i just... beautiful

  • do you have a longer version of the agony soundtrack?

  • Epic Olof Gustafsson's music @ 4:34

  • @FoxMulder78 yeah probaly the best song made ever.

  • Najwspanialsze dni z mojego życia. Nawet pierwszy raz nie dał mi tyle radości co pogrywanie na Amidze !! !!

  • all of the best!!!!!! very nice choices!! I got a 500 since 1987 and I play with all my amiga (500,1200 and cd32)every time, nothing is better !!! (over than 2500 games)

  • migliori anni della mia vita

  • Great compilation man. I'm absolutely loving it. As a grown up man, I feel slightly ridiculous getting so emotional and happy when hearing this somewhat old music, but I can still remember every tune of any game I played for longer time.

This rough around the edges sid- and Amiga-sound is so nice to my ears... I get the same feeling when listening to the '92 Rave-stuff from the UK. I feel a bit nostalgic now. But happy!

  • Oh man I insta-nostalgia when I hear that delicious whispery chipsound.

  • 33 people did not have a clue what an amiga was all about :-D

i actually had all the games you showed. now this is wat i call a trip down memory lane ;-D some amiga tunes still sounds great today. and that's amazing, considering the amiga had "only" 4 sample tracks to use.

thanks for sharing, and have a nice day.

  • @bobyyard123

Why would you want to play pc games on an amiga since pc games HAVE ALWAYS BEEN AND WILL ALWAYS BE CRAP.

  • can you play p c games on the Amiga

  • Amiga had the best sound capabilities at the time and without any additional hardware like soundcards. Even today those tunes sound great and very spatial. The interesting thing is that when I listen to these tunes on my Amiga they sound better than on PeeZee! I would say they sound more smooth and "warm" on Amiga. Amiga rules!

  • amiga 600 for my part, it's was magic!!!

  • Oh man this brings back so many memories!!!!! Now I'm wracking my mind trying to remember the name of one of my favorite games... loved the music in it. You could be a male or female barbarian warrior and right near the start of the game you find this big duck like beast that you ride and I think it takes you across water.... the characters were really big, took up about 2/3's of the height of the screen. Anyone know what I'm talkin' about?

  • @TheSmartypants

    sounds like Sword of Sodan

  • @Lunorama That's it!

  • @TheSmartypants At a guess it could be goldenaxe (comes without warranty)

  • @TheBoozeFairy We figured it out, I was looking for Sword of Sodan! (loved goldenaxe as well though)

  • awesome!!!! as a amiga module lover I have lots of memories....

    Like!!!!

  • one of the greatest youtube vids/clips ever made - imo anyway. Thanks for the memories. awesome.

  • 33 people owned an Atari.

  • Many thanks for this video, fantastic trip down memory lant, had completely forgotten about turrican and alien breed despite spending so many hours on those games, especially alien breed

  • yeah been going through these tracks from Shadow of the Beast. But what is the first track in your compliation here? Its really nice.

  • Amiga music makes me feel both happy and sad. Happy for all the awesome memories those games and their music left in my mind, sad because those times are gone forever.

  • Man oh man i remember the music for Lotus III , such an awesome soundtrack, for an equally awesome game!

  • Does anyone know which track is the turrican 2 one? i have been looking for it but can't find it elsewhere

  • @YuberOkami Same, i found the Turrican 2 soundtrack in .mod format, but this track aint there :(

  • @isair81 : i found it here in youtube. It's called "Turrican 2: traps". If you don't find it just tell me and i will post the direct link

  • @YuberOkami Well there are plenty of Turrican 2 : Traps videos on youtube, but it isn't the song in your video.

A direct link would be awesome, thanks!

  • my mint condition A4000 040 is on eBay now.

    happy bidding

  • Intro of Editors - Papillon reminds me a tune from amiga game :)

  • Been working for (probably) the biggest PC game company in the world (nothing spectacular positionwise) for about 5 years now, but can't ever forget Psygnosis, Ocean, Rainbow Arts and Bitmap Brothers.

Those guys formed the surroundings of the rest of my life subconsciously :)

My Amiga days were the best gaming days of my life. Still got the A500+ setup in the spare room, working as flawlessly as ever

  • Xenon2 MegaBlast!!

  • Best years in my life too. These songs ...they are truly a part of me.

  • The music in all of these games is sublime, Uplifting, nostalgic but most importantly beautiful.

At the start - the music to Agony is awesome. followed up with Alien Breed (is that the intro lol ?) wow....memories of Amiga came flooding back.

Wish they'd actualy improved the music on Lotus TC 2, it wasn't really my cup of tea. Too Corny.

  • turrican 2 has the best game music evah, especially the intro.. its amazing :)

  • Turrican 2 had the best music of any amiga game imho, and that's saying a lot

  • This great ambiance I had with the Amiga 500 will never come back. It will remain a distance but great memory.

  • Check out the new amiga coming out very soon, just search: Amiga X1000 in your favourite search engine!

  • Awwwww so many happy memories here!

SotB, great stuff. me and my brother used to play Lotus 2 for HOURS.

  • Sorgens Kammer \m/

  • The Alien Breed part gave me the first heebie-jeebies.

  • He strikes back!!

    THE AMIGA ONE X1000 !!!

  • Lotus III and Zool had same kind of music?

  • @Lemmy556

Yes, one of the tracks in Lotus 3 is the same as in Zool. Very bad choice on my part, seems to confuse a lot of people.

  • @laffer35 It's because both soundtracks were by Patrick Phelan (which you probably knew). I'm currently trying to build up a collection by him and several other Amiga artists - retrotracksDOTnet/artists/244

  • @Lemmy556 those were great times , gotta love midi based tunes,

I wish pc games were using more midi tunes...

Commodore ruled in the past, and I do have tons ofgoodmemories from that time...,

    thanks for sharing this playback

  • definately turrican 2, all the lvls had great tunes, especially liked the flight lvl

  • nice vid, but XENON2 was way too short / you missed the best parts!

  • shadow of the beast, the shittest platformer ever with the greatest music... all these tunes proper bring back the memories

  • If you want to play these fabulous Amiga games online, have a look at:

    amigaonline (dot) forumactif (dot) net

See you soon on the network!

  • 500 + Was the best except the million trys to get 500 games working ok LOL !!!

Prod X= best music Shadow/beast + Alien Breed Main menu Music All so cool .!.

  • Looking back, I wish the gaming industry didn't have to go down the fucking toilet. Companies manipulating the gaming media, producing the same shit over and over again and really fucking over the developers (like Bobby Kotick firing Infinity Ward so they won't have to pay them their bonus big cheques) Being called a nerd or technologically backwards or a faggot by some fucking dipshit on GAYmeFAQs who play nothing but FPS games and Madden and GTA (although Vice City and San Andreas was great).

  • No more passion these days in the gaming industry. FUCK. I wish things didn't have to go down the toilet. The creativity and originality is dead too.

  • xenon 2 sounds like attack on precinct 13

  • you can never go wrong with turrican 2 :)

    so awesome music
