@marcus5808 i think they create a biggerwhip effect at the end of the powerband. Lots of bows come with them, too many to list. some are rubber and slide which really mess things up for shooters if you can get the spacing from cams and weight down with the speed nocks then these can be weighed out and more securely placed in the same pre-marked spot
pt. 3 ...and i think... that if you actually do gain speed from adding string weight, then represents a design flaw in the bow, so surely some bows may not infer a higher speed output from weights, and furthermore, doodoo cacka pee pee shitzstainz
pt. 2- Perhaps.. well... if the dynamic characteristics of the power curve of the bow were such that full speed was achieved early, that is at a point closer to full draw than full rest, and the weighted string had enough time to reach the same speed that it would w/o weights, then i guess its possible that the extra mass of the string would partly counter-act the weight of the arrow, thus giving you a faster shot.... but im no science-prigg
i would imagine your speed will actually decrease doing that. Same goes with heavier/lighter arrows: heavier arrow goes slower, ligher arrow goes faster. Decreasing weight on your strings would increase the speed. Technically you coould even gain speed by a decrease of the mass of the limbs by removing material, but thats not advisable. maybe i'm missing somethin but i just dont see how it would be possible to speed up with a mass increase. The rules of mass inertia just says it aint so.
@batkinson1969 i did but not in the video. it's one of those things where I don't care if people accuse this of not working because I know they're wrong esp. in this case. The ammount of weight and placement varies from bow to bow. Some people like the adjustable ones but i've seem them slip down the string and that really throws off accuracy. I can do a video with my burner right around when 3d gets going for me and I start making some hyperlight strings to go with it

most compound bows are noisy, theyre geared.. my longbow is 100 pound draw, its silent... fur strips (anout 4" long) are woven into the top and bottom of the string silences the "whip".
@jordyd19 its not easy no, but when you've been doing it for years, ya get stronger, 20 some years ago I started with a 25 pound recurve.. dont doubt a heavier draw bow cant be draw dude.. theres videos on here of quite a few ppl using them, especially the english..
And my draw length is 29 an a half.. should see the exocet crossbows at 150 to 200 pound.. but alas they come with a special device to pull em.
@Me102288 this was an over 80lb king cobra and stored tons more energy then your recurve even when your recurve is 100lbs because it's more weight at the beginning of the draw through the middle. Why are you trolling on high performance compound video when your stuck on 30000 yr old technology? Create another account if you want to respond because im blocking you
well done video. As for me I have worked in a bow shop and seen some of the mess that comes in. However you done a nice job on breakin your bow down, but if you could I would invest in a bow press just alot safer all around.
@huntin4live working on that press! and thanks for commenting because there's allot of people who are experts on here with 2 months owning a bow experience. It's rare that anyone knows what they're talking about it seems. I should have another video up of a big velvet buck we got on film last night if you wanna see about the biggest michigan buck you'll see that's not farm raised
i have a single cam bow. . and would i just put the speed knock next to the cam or would i put it at the cam and i guess its called the "wheel"? also would i have to remove my string silencers? but it looks interestin worth tryin cause hey twenty dollars to speed up my old bow. . . or close to a thousand for a new one. . .
@randystroup33 the top wheel is the "idler wheel" the lower is the cam. They always go next to a cam and I've only seen one used on a single cam, sometimes only 2 knocks towards the cam side maybe one by the idler wheel. You pretty much need a chronograph to see if it'll help you gain the 4-8fps I'd expect out of a single cam
Jordy is correct. Usually weight on the string does mean slower arrow speeds. but on the newer bows that come out with string weights it actually makes them faster.
The weight on the string balances the cams. Just like on some bears and mathews that have a perimeter weighted cam. but placement does affect arrow speed on these bows. anything in the middle of the string will slow down your arrow. just my 2 cents worth
Newton's first law states that a body will remain at rest unless acted upon by an external force, also know as INERTIA, maybe you've heard of it. Those stupid little bits of plastic, that you've ruined a perfectly good string with, take energy from your draw to accelerate them forward. This is energy that could be transferred to your arrow. Yes, your D-loop will decrease arrow speed because the stored energy in the string has to move it forward too.
@oneindustries1 since I'm not a manufacturer and hoyt, mathews, PSE bowtech and elite add string weights you better tell them that they're wrong. I'm not making any money, notice the 0 ads on my vids or long shop promoting title clips.
@oneindustries1 it takes about 8fps off the speed of the arrow when you remove these. The thing is the cams on the dartons, elites, hoyts and mathews the whole bow is engineered for the weight on the ends of the strings. Weight in the middle like the dloop decreases speed and the peep is drag and a little weight but out towards the end it's fine. Ted nugent doesn't design anything on a bow besides zebra stripes and he's a cross bow nut now anyways.
@bel2553 thankyou, I can't believe how many people can possibly be ignorant to this. The apa had terrible speed weights that moved on the string from group to group. I have no doubts that the strother is right behind them with slippage.
@bel2553 ya dont put weight on a bowstring to speed it up.A nock is used to index the arrow on a string.. making it heavier will results in more power to move the string, giving less power to the arrow. Thats how basic physics work. Its just like making a bullet heavier, velocity will go down.
As for the bow, ya changing the gears will make it lesser or more draw weight aka more power.
you want to silence the snap of the sring you use something soft, like rabbit fur tied into it.. :-)
@Me102288 actually you're wrong. If you put small amount of weight just above the cam(s) when your release the string the cam(s) pull the weights around quicker than bare string thus creating a whip effect up around your knocking point. G5 markets this with their speed studs and i've chrono'd the with and without the speed stud and it does add speed to your arrow. Is it enough that i would attempt this shannanagan with these ridic. materials, def not! But in contrast to basic physics youre wrong
@blackfeatherarchery good after I did this before the string "weights"(rubber pieces of shit) slid and gave me different groups and they still haven't fixed the issue. The speed nocks add lots of speed and distributing the weight with nocks over a few inches was easier on the cables infront of the weights. Truball speedballs were nicking the cables.
Very recomendable to do this to any bow. I modeled the weight placement exactly after the omen
@blackfeatherarchery I've shot the apex7 for a long long time, I played with a mq1 for a while again but traded it for a gun. I picked up an alpha burner which is real similar to this bow with a 6in brace, better customer support. The cams look very similar though and they're both fast I can't wait to see what the burner will do when it's properly set up. I have some new fast shaft carbon impact arrows for hunting too. 350 grains! it was 87ft lbs at 29in
@pingpong49426 we copied the pse omen i think it was 2, 3, 2 on each side. but same spacing as the omen and with these limbs not being split putting them all together had the string nicking the cable and was terrible. I have a alpha burner now and it's almost identical except there are no problems and I think if it was a 5in brace it would be as fast as this just not advertised to be 362fps
@Rottmad king cobra the 08's were better in my opinion. Loved the sharpener, the handle the hook and when it was timed right it was shooting real good
@mh082670 some people fall for just about any new gimmick. Had these on my bow for like 10 minutes when I bought it and it sure was the first thing to go. shot it through a chrono it was 17ft/s slower with the things on
@Dredster747 "I don't believe professional athletes should be role models. I believe parents should be role models.... It's not like it was when I was growing up. My mom and my grandmother told me how it was going to be. If I didn't like it, they said, "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out." Parents have to take better control." ~ charles barkley
@Dredster747 that was the point. Why are you so sensitive? This is a video showing how you can do it yourself! you don't have to go to the shop and pay for everything. You can make your own stabilizers, rests, hell anything if you put your mind to it. I didn't mean that I hate gay people I was using the new meaning of the word which is basically calling him an idiot. Words change meaning. Sorry I offended your boyfriend.
hey man love the bow and the video but have some ? how fast was the bow shooting before the speed bumbs should have showed that and also what was the purpose of the shrink tubes does it help in any way or was it more for looks?
@dbuckner902010 the shrink tube for looks. It was 15fps slower without any speed weights and faster then the factory "weights" by 6fps. The factory ones went loose on me
@snowmansong apa king cobra. There pretty rare, I miss this bow a bit. The no needing a bow press, the knife sharpener and limb hook integrated in the bow were sweet. They make some single cam bows as well which is what most people go with. thanks for the interest
@axeforce6 thanks bro, my xlr8 needs this done now after shooting IBO arrows all summer, we've got the original weights glued on right now which is pretty ghetto. PSE definetly has that part figured out for real.
I made this video because I was told to buy accelerator balls to replace rubber weights that came with it. The rubber weights slid, the accelerator balls nicked the cable in-front but should work well with a split limb bow. The nocks that are on the strings there are very inexpensive and work as well. There arranged the exact same fashion as the pse omen. Just crimp the nocks, then apply shrink tubing! They affect the arrow speed by 15fps with 590 gr arrows.
I don't know I have been reading up on the hole speed ball type thing and it seems that it is pretty much a waste of time. I didn't read any post where somebody actually got that kind of increase if any at all.sounds like a sales gimic!
that's why I made this video bro! 2 cam bows very much favor weight on the string, take a look at the omen, monster I think even the z7 and the new triumph by mathews incorporate weights near the cams. Many of the older bows like my black max 2 have nocks put on with shrink tubing but the DIY video's just weren't there. I don't believe allot of things either until I test it myself. For this bow it's definitely not theory.
thanks, it seems like it's been 3 months of info gathering to get to the point of using simple nocks, spaced out where as the truball was one big heavy nock in one place which would hit the string ahead of the cable and damage it.
Fat ass JK umm what do they do

@pingpong49426 we copied the pse omen i think it was 2, 3, 2 on each side. but same spacing as the omen and with these limbs not being split putting them all together had the string nicking the cable and was terrible. I have a alpha burner now and it's almost identical except there are no problems and I think if it was a 5in brace it would be as fast as this just not advertised to be 362fps

does having sausage legs help the bow speed at all?
And if it does how do I go about developing some sausage legs of my own.
thanks.

Which bow is this?
I have an older (2008) Mamba X2...and I too, hate the way the strings feel. Great bow though, but still way too loud.
Rottmad 1 year ago
@Rottmad king cobra the 08's were better in my opinion. Loved the sharpener, the handle the hook and when it was timed right it was shooting real good
jordyd19 1 year ago
get yourself a chrono and figure out you just slowed your bow way down. more string weight slower speeds, any bow technician will tell you that!!!
mh082670 1 year ago
@mh082670 your incorrect
jordyd19 1 year ago 4
@mh082670 some people fall for just about any new gimmick. Had these on my bow for like 10 minutes when I bought it and it sure was the first thing to go. shot it through a chrono it was 17ft/s slower with the things on

@Dredster747 "I don't believe professional athletes should be role models. I believe parents should be role models.... It's not like it was when I was growing up. My mom and my grandmother told me how it was going to be. If I didn't like it, they said, "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out." Parents have to take better control." ~ charles barkley

@jordyd19 Oh that's deep.
Dredster747 1 year ago
@Dredster747 that was the point. Why are you so sensitive? This is a video showing how you can do it yourself! you don't have to go to the shop and pay for everything. You can make your own stabilizers, rests, hell anything if you put your mind to it. I didn't mean that I hate gay people I was using the new meaning of the word which is basically calling him an idiot. Words change meaning. Sorry I offended your boyfriend.

hey man love the bow and the video but have some ? how fast was the bow shooting before the speed bumbs should have showed that and also what was the purpose of the shrink tubes does it help in any way or was it more for looks?
dbuckner902010 1 year ago
@dbuckner902010 the shrink tube for looks. It was 15fps slower without any speed weights and faster then the factory "weights" by 6fps. The factory ones went loose on me
jordyd19 1 year ago
what brand/model bow?
snowmansong 1 year ago
@snowmansong apa king cobra. There pretty rare, I miss this bow a bit. The no needing a bow press, the knife sharpener and limb hook integrated in the bow were sweet. They make some single cam bows as well which is what most people go with. thanks for the interest

axeforce6 1 year ago
@axeforce6 thanks bro, my xlr8 needs this done now after shooting IBO arrows all summer, we've got the original weights glued on right now which is pretty ghetto. PSE definetly has that part figured out for real.
jordyd19 1 year ago
I think that pin to relax the string is a great idea,to bad all bows didn't have that.
joearcher71 2 years ago
yea, All I need now is an extra string and I won't need a backup bow. Even though I love to have backup bows.
jordyd19 2 years ago
ok i'm new to these bows tell me in kiddie terms what did you just do and why cause i watched your vid and didn't understand thanks.
majors80 2 years ago
I made this video because I was told to buy accelerator balls to replace rubber weights that came with it. The rubber weights slid, the accelerator balls nicked the cable in-front but should work well with a split limb bow. The nocks that are on the strings there are very inexpensive and work as well. There arranged the exact same fashion as the pse omen. Just crimp the nocks, then apply shrink tubing! They affect the arrow speed by 15fps with 590 gr arrows.
jordyd19 2 years ago
I don't know I have been reading up on the hole speed ball type thing and it seems that it is pretty much a waste of time. I didn't read any post where somebody actually got that kind of increase if any at all.sounds like a sales gimic!
majors80 2 years ago
that's why I made this video bro! For this bow it's definitely not theory.
jordyd19 2 years ago
thanks, it seems like it's been 3 months of info gathering to get to the point of using simple nocks, spaced out where as the truball was one big heavy nock in one place which would hit the string ahead of the cable and damage it.
3/16inch is the size though

Good vid man. Very informative!!
