Don't know much about Jamesway. I live in NNJ. Acme is still around. Mostly SNJ and the Philly area. There are only a handful of Acme's north of Rt 78.
@RsldDecapod - I used to work at Jamesway as a teenager on Rt.30 in Hammonton,NJ. Back in the early 80's One of my first jobs as a stockperson. Hard work, low pay back then. Jamesway is now long gone.
Thanks for posting this. This was the old Shop Rite logo, and I remember this as a kid and the stores. I'm middle age now and I still shop at Shop Rite because of it's sales and now they have other conveniences, such as: Banking, food court, etc. The old stores didn't have these conveniences. I remember for christmas I got a Shop Rite toy truck and my sister had Scrunchy The Bear. Those were the good old days.
@richardfanx3 - Yep. The two biggest things to look forward to for Christmas, ( actually three) A Shop Rite toy truck, Scrunchy the Bear ( for girls ) and a Hess Gasoline toy truck, with the real rubber wheels and lights that work with batteries! - A real collectors Item, all three are worth a lot today in good condition in original boxes.
For girls? Nah. I'm a girl and I loved the truck. I'd appreciate that more than a stuffed animal. I used to put my hamster in it and take it for rides. I don't think my hamster liked that though...
@richardfanx3 -Excuse me, well you have to admit if you still have that truck (minus the hamster lol.) it is worth a lot today, especially if those who still have it in original cardboard box packaging, or the bear in it's packaging fetches a lot of money today on Ebay!
i remember back in the old days (well in the 80's) lol there used to be acme markets and jamesway outlet stores (sort of like target or walmart) where i live in pa... now all u find is wal-mart.anyone ever see acme or jamesway?
I remember Jamesway, there was one in my town. Ironically (considering the video this comment is on), it's now a Shop Rite. My town had an Acme too, but it closed in '02 and became an Advanced Auto Parts store.
Jamesway went bust in the late 80s or early 90s, I believe. Acme Markets are still around but now owned by Albertson's. Rumor has it they've want to convert them to the Albertson's name as with other chains they've acquired but the Acme brand in the Philadelphia/southern NJ area is too valuable and steeped. (as they say around here in three syllables, it's "the Ack-a-mee")
Shop Rite rocks, their Can Can Sale is about the only thing that gets me through January.
This is in Hillsdale? I don't remember it being like this...I remember Valley Fair...My mom used to work in the courtesy counter growing up...later I worked in Shop Rite but in Emerson, NJ.....what good memories...

Nice. I love their old logo. I think the new one is pretty ugly. I wish they kept the circle one.

HAHA I agree! I hate the new logo. It's so horrible.

It's so corny. Plus all the shoprite brand stuff tastes good, but the bags are so dull it's PATHETIC!

That's definitely the Hillsdale NJ Shop-Rite. I always found it odd how they patched the openings to the left of the north entrance.

Doesn't look like Hillsdale to me either. As for Valley Fair, all I can say is, "Joe Gangooza, telephone! Joe Gangooza, telephone!"
