It is obvious that this is a great orchestra and conductor. I think that they are 'letting their hair down' and having some fun with this piece and the effect is fantastic. Keep it up Maestro.
Tiflis, where Aram Khachaturyan was born, was the center of the armenian intelligence during soviet times, and even there were more armenians than georgians, that is why almost all old Tbilisi was constructed by armenians.
gaverova and zurabm; I don't think you have your facts straight, the Armenians hold khachaturian very dear to their hearts, every armenian with respect to himself knows all his great pieces. Besides, isn't it very typical for the greatest artist to be beloved by the world and but "badly" seen upon by their own? It's what makes them legend in the end.... :)
This is a really good piece from MASQUERADE. Personally, I feel it's a tad too fast. The version I'm familiar with and prefer is Kiril Kondrashin conducting the RCA Victor Symphony Orchestra, recorded 1960 (available on CD on RCA Victor's "Living Stereo" series).

Norpol55 - Aram was born and raised in Georgia until he was 18, at which point he went to Moscow to study and remained there for most of his life. His father was Armenian. He spoke more Georgian than Armenian, although his music was influenced by both Armenian and Georgian folklore. Please do some research and know facts before you post ignorant comments.

I'm sorry to break it to you, but Aram was born and raised in Georgia, until he moved to Moscow in his late teens. The only ties he has to Armenia was that his father is from Armenia. Unfortunately, I will agree, that neither Georgia nor Armenia paid much tribute to this great composer.
sorry to break this to you but in the Soviet days everyone was considered Soviet, and Georgia was not Georgia at the time it was the USSR the current Georgia did not exist until 1992.
clearly you are not educated. go read up on history. i was born in Georgia and lived there for a large part of my life, and I would know whether or not "Georgia didn't exist until 1992." Are you nuts? That's like saying Texas doesn't exist because its part of the United States. Think about what you're saying. I agree that he was buried in Armenia. I never said he wasn't - re-read my post after you take a chill pill. Have a great and informative day reading about Khachaturyan.

hey listen up Moron. Read about the composer before you open your mouth. WORKING abroad in RUSSIA does not mean a person is russian alright. Well, apart from the woodwinds (and sometimes the high brass) playing out of tune, the whole orchestra not being together, especially at the slowdowns (which are btw far overdone by the conductor) - apart from all that, one could say it is a MASTER conductor ;]
I respect criticism and thanks all who expresses the opinions. Execution Masquerade not ideally and certainly has details for completion, but video by me is entered in youtube not for discussion and criticism, and for reception of simple pleasure of a waltz. Let woodwinds instruments hardly lag behind(orchestra not being together) also interpretation of the conductor will be not to liking much. At everyone the thoughts and the ideas. It has been executed as BIS and rehearsal only 10 minutes)))
Well, discussion and criticism are an integral part of YouTube and You can't control it.. It wouldn't be fair to expect only positive criticism.. And if someone praises imperfect conducting as "ingenious", I feel obliged to correct him and maybe sugest better examples of conducting. All for the sake of the art.. ;) It doesn't sound as bad, as you could judge from my previous comment, but also not as great, as you could judge from the one I responded to.
Oh, and just so You know: I didn't feel the need to criticise the video, because it's not really bad. I just had to balance that other one, so that people who don't know much about music wouldn't take this as the best performance possible...
The mister pjkorab. I do not know who you such musician or the critic but who you not were it is visible that always search, who not that note has played or what that the tool not there has come in a word you take pleasure not in music and from your criticism. And there can be you to us will show your record faultless. It would be interesting to look at it. Ideal concert execution happens important that for an orchestra.
Even bad executions that by the way here full have the Berlin or London orchestra. You listen to music is better and enjoy it. And into the account conductor I can tell only one. It actually is magnificent also worthy to be at the head of the most good orchestras. This my own opinion.
First of all, I barely understand, what You're trying to say. Second of all, I don't understand, why do You hate criticism so much.. It IS part of YouTube and You can't fight it. But thirdly (and most importantly), I don't have pleasure in criticising (like I said before - read my posts carefully, or maybe work on Your English). I said it's NOT REALLY BAD -only not as great as You are implying. And for the record: the feeling and 'magic' of music depends on the technical aspect of performance ;]
I don't think that his talent had anything to do with nationality... Geniuses can be born anywhere in the world. Although it's a good excuse for nationalism. I could say that Chopin, Szymanowski, or John Paul II prove Poland to be a great nation, but it wouldn't be true... Alas.. I don't have anything against Armenians though - a very talented one even teaches violin in my music school. Just saying nationality and talent don't seem to be connected..
Wow. This song is beautiful. It has a sad yet festive sound to it. I have to say, this is a very good waltz, Even though I've been looking for a different one for a few days, this is by far, the best one I've seen yet.
