@runos4323 some people like how the water is so they can do traps, and they allready added in hunger and all that, they dont need to take away the sandbox part of minecraft even more

It takes a lot of work making that dam open using redstone ... I mean it would be easier using something called TNT although it won't be that good cutting off the water supply - but still :D

Mine isn't nearly complete, or nearly as big, but it was built (not legit, using TMI) but entirely by hand, something tells me that yours had MCedit or a similar program involved.

Mine is the Ataturk dam. It's a real dam, in turkey, this is a scaled down version, that doesn't look anything like it :)

Apparently you have confused "Dam" with "Reservoir"... A dam blocks water-flow creating a reservoir on one side... your pumping water into a reservoir which in real life would really be used to prevent flooding in plains areas and valleys
